The moment Minnesotans wait 9 months of winter for 🌞⛵️😍 . I’m working hard to get back the energy and excitement I had for so many things pre-COVID. Motivation is not always easy these days. If you’ve lost your zesty get up & go recently, you are not alone. It’s so important to be compassionate with yourself & do something that makes you feel good to start the day. Being at home it’s easy to not bother with the shenanigans of getting ready, but wearing something that FEELS GOOD, doing something with your hair & popping on a little bit of makeup, if it’s your preference, is SO worth 10 or 15 minutes. Something simple, something quick - don’t make it a chore – try and make it fun! “Life is a party, dress for it” Audrey Hepburn Bright colors like this pic just make me feel sunnier. And it’s summer so hydrate your skin with a yummy face oil (I’m really loving Coachella Naturals Rosehip oil), a little tinted moisturizer (I love @Iliabeauty), smudge a dash of cream blush on your cheeks (any you have is great – I’m wearing ‘I Put a Spell on You’ @Iliabeauty with a touch of liquid highlighter @chantecaille Liquid Lumiere dabbed on my cheek bones), a smidge of lip balm (I like @burtsbees Lavender & Honey lip balm) & a lick of mascara (I’m using @urbandecaycosmetics Perversion black). If you want to go crazy, smudge a little black or brown soft pencil liner lightly on the outer corners of your upper & bottom lid. Smudging the line with a soft brown and or copper eyeshadow, gives it a more natural lived in feel. Some dry shampoo & a few loose beach waves with the curling iron are a quick way to freshen up your hair for a summer look, but if you’re looking for a super quick fix, a fun hat always works – again something that FEELS GOOD. I am so inspired by this woman!! Caroline is a former professional golfer from Sweden. She played on the Swedish Tour and Ladies European Tour in 2010. In 2011, she survived an earthquake in New Zealand where she watched every single restaurant except the one she was in crumble. Her choice of restaurant literally saved her life. During this time she was also dealing with chronic knee pain & swelling. After 3 years of getting cortisone injections in a knee that doctors just assumed was “swollen from training”, they opened up her knee to find a 6lb cancerous tumor. The only choice was amputation. They scheduled the surgery 3 weeks out. When I asked her how she dealt with that she said that when she first found out she had cancer she thought her life was over(who wouldn’t). But what inspired me was what she said next. After they scheduled the surgery she knew she had 3 weeks left to get the most out of her leg and so even though she wasn’t feeling well and she knew nobody would blame her for laying in bed, she did every activity that she knew would be harder once the leg was gone. She actually called the PGA to make sure that she would still be able to play in the next tournament... knowing her leg would be gone. She played in the Swedish Championship just 8 weeks after the amputation. Which is just unreal to me!!😅😱 Caroline found me online a few months ago and told me that her and her husband would be in the Pacific Northwest for their honeymoon in April & I am so glad she reached out to me. We met at my moms restaurant in my home town. I know so many bad ass people with crazy stories like that. Its interesting to me how we don’t become desensitized to hearing them. There is just something so empowering and uplifting about hearing stories of people overcoming adversity. Its always impactful and uniquely inspiring. Her’s really touched me so I just had to share! Moral of the story- don’t be afraid to reach out to someone. Being an amputee can be hard as hell sometimes but the more people you connect with who go through what you go through, the less alone you’ll feel. & that goes for everything!! ❤️ - @meganabsten on Instagram

Sorry I haven’t been posting as much lately. I’ve been going through a lot of digestive issues for a while now, which has been frustrating and exhausting to say the least. After much trial and error and denial/refusal to give up certain foods, I’m going to be committing to the Low FODMAP diet, and the reintroduction phases over the coming months. So it should be fun to feel good again, and make some different foods to share💜 I know it works, but being a stubborn Leo, I just never stuck with it ☺️ Has anyone else tried it ??💕 Many thanks to Sharon @thefodmapfriendlyvegan and her advice over the years, plus her amazing recipe book, which has been a lifesaver. #runningtipthursday I thought I’d take this Thursday to talk about why I do cardio in the first place! 💫 A few months ago, I could barely finish running a mile. Not because I couldn’t, but because I didn’t believe I could. When you’re extremely in-touch with the fact that your mental and physical are intertwined, and are very receptive of energy ~ you have to learn to control the mind and body otherwise it will control you! ‼️ My psyche (and everyone’s) is so powerful, that my self-doubts manifested into physical pain when I ran. When quarantine hit, I had a newfound determination to conquer my cardio fears. I wanted to feel the runners high. Long story short I ran all summer and do not plan on stopping - with my longest run at 6 MILES 😊 What changed? YOGA 💫🧡 When I applied the practices I learned in yoga to my cardio workouts, everything changed. I run for me and no one else and I love every second. Here’s a few yoga principles I applied to my cardio workouts! Give it a try next time you go to lace up ya sneaks 👟 ⭐️ breath work. Own the power of your breath. You have the ability to keep your heart rate down even as you increase the speed of your legs. It takes practice! But all good things do. ⭐️ mindset shift. Yoga showed me how to let go of what something needs to look like and instead focus on how it feels. This alone can make or break a cardio workout. Who are you setting expectations for and why? ⭐️ flexibility. I no longer feel horribly sore after I run!! I developed my flexibility and take care of my body through yoga and stretching so cardio doesn’t have to be so dreadful! ⭐️moving in nature. Yoga showed me how to be mindful and grateful. Practice gratitude as you run - be happy for your body and how it allows you to move, take in nature and point out five things you notice! Moving in nature mindfully is SO SO good for your overall well-being Cardio does not have to = BAD Cardio can do so much good, and my yoga practice has allowed me to see that 🧡 #duespaid - @shayne_themindfulyogi on Instagram

How I’ve learned to deal with bad body image days since I’ve stopped dieting/tracking macros. 1. Giving gratitude for what my body is capable of doing, because so many people don’t have the privilege to run, walk, jump, etc. 2. Remembering how deprived, sad, lonely, and depressed I felt when I was “lean.” I think it’s important to realize that if you don’t enjoy the foods you eat, don’t feel satisfied after eating, or don’t enjoy your workouts, then that’s not what you should be doing; regardless of what is being hyped . 3. Knowing that even if I don’t feel like my body “looks good now” it IS GOOD. 4. Wearing clothes that fit my body now and getting rid of clothes that are too small/tight. 5. Switch my focus to something I do like about myself. For example, I like to dance. My daughter and I will learn new dances together and that instantly cheers me up. Ultimately, No matter how much we practice self love, we’re human, and It’s normal to have days where you aren’t loving how you look. Nature is good for the soul! I’ve always been someone who loves hiking and getting outdoors (and Zoe too). This weekend was very much needed, and I listened to my body and was able to rest... kinda. Doing this hike was just what I wanted, and felt good getting in those steps on a pretty steep trail! hi! I have been so overwhelmed lately but in a good way! I am taking 16 credit hours (on zoom- which discovering how to manage online college is a full time job on its own), I start a new job Monday, I have my job teaching spin and I am also working as a campus rep - so in my first couple weeks of sophomore year I also decided to take on 3 jobs. Additionally, I am part of our sorority’s rush team & I have my position as diversity co chair. Im trying to do some volunteer work in my sorority and I am going to apply to be part of one of our campus magazines. I also am making sure I spend as much time with friends as possible. I am so happy and so fulfilled and proud of myself for all I am able to balance. However, I’ve realized I can’t slow down. I am taking care of myself in the way that I still workout 6 days a week and eat pretty healthy and get a decent amount of sleep but I refuse to let myself slow down. Because as soon as I slow down it’s just me and my thoughts and we don’t have much time with just the two of us lately so I get anxious... I get anxious because I’m not overwhelmed and anxious- so that makes sense. I’m not sure if you all can relate, but I feel like a few of my fellow college gals/ guys should be able to. but anyway, that’s where I’m at. Happy Sunday beautiful ppl!!🤩💖 Woke up on the right side of the bed feeling refreshed and excited for the week ahead. Tbh, it’s been a pretty tough and stressful few weeks, so my goals for this week are all about prioritizing mental health. I want to make sure I’m not too hard on myself and allowing myself to feel good!! 🌈Prioritize sleep. I’ve been going to bed late and not getting nearly enough sleep since I’ve been at school. My goal is to get at least 8 hours each night. 🌈Implement a morning routine. Wake up at least 30 min before class to stretch, drink my morning coffee, and practice affirmations. 🌈Read at least 3x. Reading is a hugeee stress reliever and refresher for me, and I want to prioritize it as a source of self care. 🌈Do things that make me happy! I want to make sure I’m putting my energy into things that bring me joy - whether it’s getting dinner with a friend, making myself a nice meal, or watching Tik Toks🤪 🌈Just generally chill out. I’ve been putting in a huge effort to take the right steps and make every action intentional, but the constant analysis is draining. This is the first day of fall here in Kelowna! We’ll take it. Hey I did a bonus workout today for you. It’s a super fast and sweaty no repeat hiit workout. This would be a great mid day session if you’re still working from home and having that afternoon slump. You could add this on to any of my Strength workouts as well.
