In this piece of work, the models are posed as Kisaeng, women who trained to be courtesans for providing artistic entertainment and conversation to men of the upper class during Joseon Dynasty. With rich knowledge in literature, art and music, Kisaengs were considered as the most progressive women of their time despite their servitude. Through juxtaposing concepts from different contexts and cultures, he poses questions towards the representations of beauty in his work and highlights the timelessness of traditional Korean beauty. Really finding it hard to be creative and inspired at the moment. Concentrating on anything for longer than 15mn has become challenging. I think it’s because my love for photography comes from that human connection, that special relationship and the trust invested by both the photographer and the model, understanding each other while building a little universe of our own.
