My Deputy Chief of Staff attended an event yesterday, where US Fish and Wildlife Service along with US Customs and Border Protection displayed over 1,400 pieces of sea turtle shells disguised as blue plastic that had been seized in an attempt to illegally ship to Asia through a US Port of entry. Unfortunately, Illegal wildlife trade is still a prevalent and common practice, but it’s also a serious crime. The Track2wing Project was launched this year by Nancy Anisfield and Terry Wilson with the goal of identifying individuals with mobility challenges who wanted to continue or learn how to hunt with their dogs. Can I just say, as SHITTY as these fires have been one of the positive things that has come of this is that it forces strangers to come TOGETHER. There is so much beauty I have seen in humanity in the last 3 days. It has at times brought me to tears to witness it. From the almost $25,000, yes you read that right, TWENTY FIVE THOUSAND dollars in donations to the local restaurants working their asses off to feed 150-200 first responders a meal, I am in disbelief how many people have stepped up. To see these firefighters faces light up when they come down the mountain after a 24hr shift because they have coffee and a warm meal to eat is one of the most rewarding things to see. City of Smyrna Provides W-Fi Hotspots for Students/Families through the Federal CARES Act SMYRNA, GA (Thursday., Sept. 17, 2020) – Through the Federal CARES Act funding allocated to the City of Smyrna through Cobb County, the City of Smyrna has approved and purchased Wi-Fi hotspots to distribute to Smyrna area Cobb County public schools to provide connection for students. Today, Mayor Derek Norton, members of Council Tim Gould (Ward 6 – Mayor Pro-Tem), Travis Lindley (Ward 3) along with Interim City Administrator Joe Bennett and Interim Assistant City Administrator Penny Moceri delivered Wi-Fi hotspots to Campbell High School and Belmont Elementary in Smyrna. The Smyrna City Council authorized the purchase of 900 Wi-Fi Hotspots. Based on input from the leadership of Smyrna area Cobb County schools, the City purchased and is in the process of distributing – through the schools - 300 hot spots. This project is covered by the Federal CARES Act with funds distributed through the Cobb County Government. Each Verizon MiFi Jetpack can accommodate five to 10 devices. There is no data limit. Each device has an unlimited data plan. At present, service will be covered until December 30, 2020. As she was a Marine Systems Engineering Officer, the Marine Systems Engineering Department (MSED) gathered together to celebrate her birthday and showcase the plaques they made in her honour. * Nicknamed “Lil Ma’am”, Slt Abbigail Cowbrough was a beloved member of the MSED. To honour her legacy, two commemorative plaques were created by the department: one to be mounted in the lobby of the After Auxiliary Machinery Room (AAMR) as “Abbi’s AMR” which has the signatures of the ship’s crew on the back; and one commemorative plaque describing her feisty personality, her spirit of comradeship and higher learning, and her joie-de vivre, which has the song “Amazing Grace” written on the back, will be hung in the Machinery Control Room (MCR). Er verletzte sich am scharfkantigen Stützpfosten einer Leitplanke schwer und sitzt seit dem im Rollstuhl. Eine Freundin von Thomas wendet sich an MEHRSi, ob wir uns die Leitplanken mal anschauen. Vorort ein uralt System – mit nur mal Unterfahrschutz ist es hier nicht getan. Die Zusammenarbeit mit dem zuständigen Landratsamt Roth funktioniert bestens und dem „Komplett neu“ wird schnell zugestimmt. So auch der Empfehlung von MEHRSi, hier auch die neuen, weil flexiblen Kurvenleittafeln der Firma BEILHARZ zum Einsatz zu bringen. Die Kosten dieser Maßnahme (ca. 18.000 Euro) teilen sich grob das Landratsamt und MEHRSi. Der Abriss der alten sowie die Montage der neuen Leitplanken samt Unterfahrschutz und Leittafeln erfolgt durch die Firma BAVARIA Verkehrstechnik, deren Arbeit MEHRSi wieder mit Kaffee und belegten Brötchen begleitet. Pünktlich zum offiziellen Fertigstellungstermin sind die letzten Schrauben eingedreht. Thomas, seine Frau und Freunde, die Mitglieder vom DOC-Mittelfranken sowie Landrat Eckstein vom Landkreis Roth treffen ein. Eine berührende Situation, denn wir stehen genau dort, wo Thomas letztes Jahr so schwer verunglückt ist. Der Landrat dankt auch MEHRSi für die Initiative und Co-Finanzierung. Er freut sich über das neue Leitplankensystem, welches nicht nur der Sicherheit der Autofahrer dient, sondern durch den Unterfahrschutz und die flexiblen Kurvenleittafeln auch alle Zweiradfahrer sprich: Motorrad- UND Radfahrer konzeptionell in das System integriert. Pacing out the perimeter of an acre to stretch our legs at our first camp stop became the beginning of conversations about different farm sizes and the economics of it all. Fantastic to be back in South Australia! My daughter Lily and I got to meet some of the amazing people and animals at the Adelaide Zoo today, including Lara the Quokka. Adelaide Zoo has received over $337,000 from our zoos’ support package to ensure their animals are well cared for during this #COVID19 pandemic. It was encouraging to hear the zoo has seen a good increase in visitors as restrictions have been easing, hopefully this continues with the recent border changes allowing more visitors from NSW and ACT. Matthew Nguyen was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in 2007, prior to his diagnosis he attended UCLA and was very involved in student activities. While at UCLA, I was the Community Health Director for Vietnamese Reaching out to Aid the Community and part of Asian Pacific Health Corps. One of my biggest projects then and something I was very passionate about was helping out with bone marrow drives with A3M (Asians for Miracle Marrow Matches). Ironically, after years of campaigning for other blood cancer patients, I am now campaigning for myself.” ~Matthew Nguyen Matthews fiance at the time held a drive at her place of work in 2009, a law firm in Irvine, CA among many other locations across SoCal. Sadly, Nguyen passed away in 2012 with complications from his transplant. Fast forward to 2018, a little boy in the Midwest of Puerto Rican descent is diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. At just 4 years old he matched perfectly with a donor who registered about 10 years prior at that Team Matthew law firm drive. Years later, the fruits of Team Matts labor keep coming, creating miracles for many far and wide. Today, the Town of Weymouth officially cut the ribbon on our new state-of-the-art Tufts Library! This project has been years in the making and represents a true partnership between so many in our community. I’m proud to say that in the summer of 2017, Rep. Murphy, Rep. Mariano and I strongly advocated for and secured $12,085,184 through the Massachusetts Public Library Construction Program for this project. The state funding represents roughly 41% of the facility’s construction costs. Securing grants like this are never easy – at the time 34 libraries across the state applied for these grants and only 9 were accepted – but we’ve always been committed to working together to move Weymouth forward. The new Tufts Library will be open to the public for viewing from 9:15 am to 4:15 pm on Tuesday, Sept. 29 and Wednesday, Sept. 30. Due to COVID-19 regulations, building capacity will be limited and visitors will have up to 30 minutes to look around the new library. This new library has something for everyone and truly brings us into the 21st century – it has a digital media lab with high-tech editing software, a half-dozen meeting rooms, a local history collection, a quiet reading room, beautiful outdoor gathering spots, and spaces specifically designed for children, tweens and teenagers. The library will open for library services from 9 am to 9 pm Thursday, Oct. 1. Again, capacity will be limited, so patrons should expect lines. ⚠️Jones Hill Woods protection camp is under evicition⚠️ This morning at 5:30 am around 40 National Eviction Team officers, working on behalf of HS2 and supported by around 20 police officers entered Jones’ Hill Wood, Wendover Valley, Buckinghamshire (HP22 6PT). The clear intention was to clear the protest camp. Whilst two protestors were removed quickly by the use of excessive force, there are currently around fifteen protestors occupying multiple treehouses across the site. This ancient woodland has been the site of a protest camp for around seven months, and is included in the list of 20 ancient woodlands that HS2 have highlighted for demolition throughout October. This woodland represents just one of 108 woodlands that are due to be destroyed during phase one construction of the HIg Speed Rail Project. Jones’ Hill Wood also represents the cultural loss that will be caused by this large scale industrial development. This beautiful and unique habitat was the inspiration for Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr Fox, and is a thriving ecosystem. The protectors who have been living here have been carrying out ecological surveys and recording the diversity that is now under immediate threat. This includes 43 species of moth, seven species of bat including rare and protected roosts, at least three families of badgers, one active fox den and countless species of insects and pollinators essential to the survival of an already dwindling countryside. There are currently multiple chainsaws cutting their way into the woodland, destroying the delicate habitat, in order for eviction officers to make their way to the tree houses. Despite this protestors have vowed to stay in their trees indefinitely, in order to highlight the many issues with HS2. Ross Monaghan, currently sixty feet in the trees says, “The destruction I am witnessing right below me flies in the face of Boris Johnson’s pledge to save our countryside. Wow! Doesn’t this picture speak a thousand words? 😌 The man on the left is Michael, who has been experiencing homelessness and sleeping in his car for quite some time! The man on the right is Sergeant Nathan from Sunshine Police Station in Victoria. Sergeant Nathan has been trying to help Michael to get housing through various organisations, however it has proven to be a long & hard process due to Michael having 3 dogs. While Sergeant Nathan is still trying to assist Michael, he thought it would be a great idea to give him a Good Box! He chose a Winter Box due to the cold winter in Victoria ❄️ We will be supplying more boxes to Sunshine Police Station to give to those experiencing homelessness in the area. It is certainly tough to experience homelessness but even tougher during a pandemic. Michael isn’t the first person who has experienced homelessness to struggle to get housing with pets. There are more organisations now who are working hard to assist those with pets and we will be introducing a Pets Box soon, so watch this space! On Wednesday July 15th at 11:34 AM the Morris Township Fire Dept. responded to reported Structure Fire on Sand Spring Rd. Engine 1 was the first arriving engine and found a light smoke condition. Former Hillside volunteers and current Township career Firefighters Matt Kaufhold and Dan Goss entered the structure to conduct a search for the family dog and source of the smoke. Upon entering the basement Firefighters Kaufhold and Goss discovered the fire to be in a utility room. They quickly removed the dog from the basement and delivered it to the family outside. Firefighters Jay Alderton and Tahj Valintine stretched a hose line to the basement and made quick work of the fire. Firefighters checked for extension on the 1st and 2nd floors. The fire was contained to the basement area. Mutual Aid from @fmbalocal43, @morrisplainsfire23 and Madison assisted on scene, @ironiafirecompany, @brookside_engine_co._1, @mounttaborfd and @new_vernon_fire_department filled the cover assignment while Morris Township operated at the Fire. - @hillsidehosecompany on Instagram

Ежегодный масштабный фестиваль, проходящий в столице Черноземья в самом начале лета, был перенесен в этом году на сентябрь связи с неблагополучной эпидемиологической обстановкой из-за вспышки коронавирусной инфекции .По традиции, в этом году у фестиваля четыре основных направления — «Театр», «Музыка», «Выставки» и «Литература». В связи с отмечаемым в этом году десятилетием фестиваля организаторы сделали особый акцент на специальной программе «Воронежского кейса». В программу Воронежского кейса вошли самые яркие спектакли воронежских театров последних двух сезонов: «Двенадцатая ночь» (Никитинский театр, режиссер – Юрий Муравицкий), «Бальзаминов» (Камерный театр, режиссер – Михаил Бычков), «Вечер с Чарльзом Буковски» (Камерный театр, режиссер Надя Кубайлат), «Aheym / Арлекинада.New/ Anima» (Театр оперы и балета, хореографы: Софья Гайдукова, Константин Матулевский), «Маскарад» (Театр драмы им. А. Кольцова, режиссер – Владимир Петров) и другие. Mentor City Officials, along with representatives from the Lake County Board of Developmental Disabilities/Deepwood, and guests were on hand to officially open the new all-inclusive playground at Mentor Civic Center Park. The $140,000 project was approved by City Council in April, and was partially paid for through a $90,000 NatureWorks grant through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. On a mission to promote wellness, increase access to fresh produce and further agricultural education @flintriverfresh, @phoebehealth and @4c_academy teamed up to develop a new community garden at 211 W 5th Avenue in Albany.
