Its a middle grade book about an eighth grade girl who starts a podcast to protest the unfair dress code enforcement at her middle school. The result? She ends up sparking a full-on dress code rebellion. As one does. (Seriously, the girl is on 🔥🔥🔥 When I was thirteen, I could barely catch the bus to school on time.) The audiobook was only about six hours long, but in that relatively short time the story manages to pack one powerful punch. It tackles a lot of relevant + timely topics such as vaping, video game addiction, and activism, in a way that is both entertaining and accessible. Not only that, but the author manages to authentically capture the painful awkwardness of puberty. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. Movie in Frame: Letters to Juliet [2010] Knowing that I’m probably siding with unpopular opinion, I’m one of those people who thoroughly enjoyed this movie! The sheer pulchritude of the cast and Europe (of, course) kept me hooked throughout. For me, the whole movie led up to a letter that is read out in the final scene of the movie. The beauty of that letter lies in the fact that it is so simply written, yet is extremely impactful. Hello! I thought I’d pop on and say hello to new followers and old! Thank you for following along my Zbyzahrah journey. Recently I have had a lot of change in my life and I have embraced it wholeheartedly without question just done what needed to be done. “I’ve been building the van since August of 2019! I bought it in July and funny enough broke my clavicle the week of purchase, haha (pictured). I actually found my van on Facebook Marketplace after unrealistically looking at dealerships. I’d then looked on Craigslist and FB Marketplace...(almost got scammed a couple of times, so beware)....but I found my beautiful gal, Kalii. • My vision is to create a space where I display my love for travel, health and sustainability through the work I’ve done on the van and the work I will do on the road. I want to be able to reach people all around and teach them the tools of yoga, health, wellness and just living life while I enjoy mine! • Okay, I can be honest: as much as I attempt to prepare, I go with the flow because I always expect change. I created probably 5 blueprints and followed none of them. Oh, and LOTS of binge watching YouTube Conversions. I’ve have a lot of tools that my dad has given me and I’ve accumulated over the years from building various things. I also borrowed a lot of tools from my really good friend and mechanic buddy, Trent. • So, so many obstacles starting from beginning the build with one arm, covid, losing my job & housing, mechanical problems, a leaky roof; but all in good fun. The build began in Tampa and is currently being built in St. Pete, FL. Originally, I had planned on creating a full van home on wheels in like 2 months from the purchase date and that DEFINITELY didn’t happen. I’ll be spending the next couple of months actually finishing the van and preparing my work for the road. • Building the van has been so hard....literal blood, sweat and tears some days. It’s definitely brought a new outlook and immense gratitude into my life. Now that I’ve lived in and out of the van for a year or so, I would say I’ve learned so much about myself, my wants and my needs. The build inside is constantly adapting to where I am. The school year is BACK ON and things are looking a little different for all of the students out there. While I run my illustration and graphic design business full time, constantly learning through in person and online courses is a priority and something I believe that all business owners owe to themselves and their clients. A goal has always been to learn or improve on at least one thing every day and using the right device makes it easy to keep that commitment going strong. Kiedy pracowałam jako UX w korpo, najbardziej lubiłam prowadzić warsztaty dotyczące ścieżki klienta. I nie chodziło tylko o to, że warsztaty jako takie są bardzo energetyczne (bo nie tylko zabierają, ale też dają energię). Ani o to, że ludzie chwalili moją pracę jako prowadzącej warsztaty (choć nie ukrywam, że było to miłe). NIe. Ludzie po warsztatach zawsze byli zaskoczeni efektem końcowym i tym, że w tak krótkim czasie byliśmy w stanie wygenerować tak ogromną ilość fantastycznych pomysłów i usprawnień. Co ciekawe - często bardzo nisko kosztowych! Nic tylko przepisywać taski do Asany. I działać 😅 Chciałabym, żeby takie warsztaty mogły stać się też Waszym udziałem. Bittersweet announcement✨ Just like that, another beautiful full circle🦋 After a year in the most magical space, the time has come for an amazing new journey. As I’ve always been transparent here, I will say that I’m not entirely sure what the future of Sisters looks like, but I am accepting it with open arms, and can’t wait to take you all on that ride with me. The online shop will STILL BE OPERATING!💖 As well as getting back to story sales again, which I know we’ve all missed😏 Paige (owner of @wildflowerfloralco) is my best friend and has always had a vision of her space being a quiet and simple design studio (especially with a new baby😍), and as much as we both LOVE Sisters being in the space, it has been expanding outside of our energy field and is time for a new chapter. I fully embrace this new path, and as much as I will miss this space, I’ve felt the universe pulling me a new direction recently, and I wholeheartedly trust in the divine and her timing. I’m thrilled to start living more remotely again and see where this beautiful journey takes me, and I am beyond grateful for Paige and everyone else in my life encouraging this path for me. Living for MORE with LESS Vanlife day 4 and couldn’t be more at HOME than I am when I’m in @that.yellow.van I always get so nervous before we move into the van for a little while because we are just so conditioned to all the accommodations of our house (which is also on wheels🤷🏽♀️🤪) and the obvious downsize- but I rarely feel cramped and somehow we have all that we need! Plus our yard is literally wherever we choose to park. Oh and it’s officially beanie weather from here on out for the duration of the trip!🤘🏽🤙🏽 Boondocked in a National Forest last night with the most epic views! So we decided to stay another night! Colorado you have been too good to us! Sad we have to head out early in the morning but @wanderworkshop is calling our names! Can’t freaking wait to meet my oily sister and literal photog idol @dawn_photo @juniperhaus_ IN REAL LIFE! Oh and PEEP THAT ARIA PSK IS BACK IN STOCK! Get with it🤙🏽👏🏽 we couldn’t leave our girl in Texas! So she’s been living that #vanlife with us! Makes our nights cozier, high mountain roads less stressful, sleep deeper and VIBES just overall better. Parker and I have this thing where we energy check one another and we will both be like “I need some EO” 😂😂 My point is the aria is an entire vibe on her own- just pretty rad you get all the other goodies along with her, oh and my welcome gift! ↪REUSE↩ One of the biggest enemies of #MotherEarth is the usage of plastic, especially one time use. However, due to its easy manufacturing and cost effectiveness, it’s currently not possible to eliminate it completely. What is possible, is to reuse it for a different purpose and reduce the overall resource consumption. I had few old plastic bottles that were collected during my shoot travels and I didn’t want to dispose them off directly as it would have added upto the non-destroyable waste load on the nature. Hence, I thought of converting this enemy of environment into the friend of environment by cutting it out on the vertical lining in rectangular shape. Painted the bottles and poured some soil to fill it up. Picked up few saplings and rooted into these pots. I have my own mini-garden now😁🌱🌸 The beauty of this is it looks very appealing even from the aesthetic point of view and it has reduced the load on mother earth which was otherwise going to take years to decompose into the core of the land. Remember, every time you decide to dispose some resource, ask yourself once. Can I use this once again for the same or a different purpose? For some time now I have been part of a Dutch campaign together with researchers and other upstanders. A campaign that strives against discrimination online. And it officially launched today! I think we can all agree that discrimination is not an option, also not online. However, it exists, can be very hidden and there is relatively low attention to online discrimination even though it can harm a lot too. All the reactions on my own content is is only positive and heartwarming but occasionally under a repost of my content I see negative comments too. From my studies as an anthropologist, it interests me a lot how people behave, also online. And being placed in a different sphere online (through reposting), exposes me to a new field of people, with sometimes a different behavior. Now, let there be no mistake, I don’t take any of the BS that can be written about my exterior personally. I appreciate myself well-enough and know that whatever others say about me says more about them than me. But that does not mean that it is ok, and we should just let them talk. I spent the afternoon yesterday cleaning the studio. It was so stuffed with things that didn’t have a place that I had been working from the sofa for the past week. Why would I do that if I have a beautiful studio to work in? I didn’t have the mental space to even set foot in here being the disaster it was, but I kept putting it off, making myself more and more anxious about it. 🧹 So I put on a @baileysarian true crime YouTube video and got to work. I actually organized my storage as I went, making sure everything had a proper place and I knew I’d be able to find it when I needed to. This made a huge difference. 🧹 Once it was all clean I found myself excited to wake up today to get to work in here again. Along with my space, I feel like I’m less frazzled. I got so much work done today because I wasn’t wasting mental space on fretting over the mess. 👟 Weirdly, I’m the most productive when it comes to cleaning and tidying when I have my shoes on... I think it’s because I can’t lay around, shoes don’t go on the bed or couch. It was in everything I grew up eating 😍 Its so useful for thickening up my savory, spiced, Indian masalas or freshly whipped with sugar and vanilla as a refreshing summer treat like this strawberry shortcake! That’s why I’m so happy to have found @Silk s Dairy Free Heavy Whipping Cream Alternative. It is so versatile for all of my heavy cream needs. It comes unsweetened and without any added flavors so Its been my go to for so many things! #LovemySilk Save this recipe for next time you need some light, fluffy, sweetness in your life (recipe is also on my highlights): Quick Biscuits: 2 cups of all purpose flour 1 tablespoon of baking powder (not baking soda) 1/2 teaspoon of salt 1 tablespoon of sugar Mix together your dry ingredients then add 1/4 cup of olive oil and 1/2 cup of plant based milk. Knead into a ball of dough. Roll out your dough into 1/2 inch thickness Cut dough into 3 inch disks. Bake them at 425° for 8 to 15 minutes! They should be slightly golden brown and cooked all the way through when ready. Let these cool while you whip up your filling! 1/2 I remember last year going to a music video showcase at @theriotheater and hearing and dancing to and singing along with @missyd_femcees Yes Mama for the first time (sharing the stage @jbthefirstlady and @kimmortaltheartist), and in the middle of taking a shower that night, I couldnt get the song out of my head and I could almost see the music video.That was also the first night I discovered @biawanna! It was a good night. Thank you @jeniferaleja_s for bringing me out! - The original concept was vastly different. @heyitsalexfarah and I applied for the @creativebcs grant last year, and after receiving it, we completely revised and changed our original concept at least 2-3 times. The pandemic was picking as we were coming closer to when production needed to happen in order to release by Mothers Day. We revised it again thinking productions could possibly come back by the end of the April. When it became evident that the lock-downs were here to stay for a while and 3 weeks before Mothers Day, I pitched Alex a quarantine version of the music video, but we grew to not like it. - On Wednesday April 29th, a week in a half before Mothers Day, Alex Farah pitched me a new concept inspired by Damien Frosts beautiful photo series of social-isolating folks from the drag community (find on sleek-mag.com). Shortly, we contacted friends to record their long-distance video calls. The shoot day went from 4 days before Mothers Day on Wednesday to Thursday to Friday, 2 days before Mothers Day. The concept almost changed twice as Alex and I were flying by the seats of our pants into this shoot. Joined by Cinematographer @leoharim and Production Designer @lizfatpantscairns, we were a four person crew all uncomfortably wearing gloves and masks on a beautiful Friday. We edited all day Saturday, coloured with @tomaszwagnerco virtually from 1030pm-2am, stayed up all night adding a final polish, finished at 8:30am, exported, and released at 9am.
