Pretty little meringues... rose, pistachio and vanilla to be served tomorrow with chocolate ice cream... easy peasy and so pretty... 💕🌸💕🌸💕 4 egg whites 200g caster sugar 2 drops rose water 50g pistachios 1/2 tsp vanilla Beat eggs on low until frothy. Increase to medium and then start adding the sugar a spoonful at a time. Increase speed again until stiff peaks. Divide between 3 bowls. Add vanilla to one, rose the next and half the chopped the pistachios to the third. Add food colouring if you have it. Mix and then spoon onto a baking sheet. Bake for 90 minutes at 120c and then turn the oven off and leave them to cool in the oven. Jérôme J’ai décidé il y a un peu plus d’un an de me tatouer le crâne. Ces tatouages ont pour but de ne jamais oublier les événements important de ma vie et surtout de symboliser une forme de provocation face aux différents cancers que j’ai pu avoir (l’idée que mon crâne ne sera plus jamais nu) Ici on peut lire : « Né pour souffrir ». Même si cette phrase semble fortement fataliste. Elle représente pour moi l’idée que la souffrance est peut être inévitable, mais qu’elle n’est pas une fin en soi. Les moments difficiles de notre vie nous permettent d’en apprendre énormément sur nous même et surtout de réaliser l’importance de profiter de chaque petit instant que le quotidien nous offre. Le bonheur est présent là où on veut bien le voir et les moments les plus douloureux de notre vie ne peuvent qu’être une opportunité de le rendre plus généreux. • SCHANITOWN — EINE MOMENTAUFNAHME Im Sommer 2020 geschah in München, bedingt durch Covid–19, Erstaunliches: In der ganzen Stadt schossen nach Wiener Vorbild über öffentlichen Parkplätzen temporäre Gastgärten – sogenannte Schanis – aus dem Boden. Es eroberten plötzlich improvisierte, ephemere Architekturen den öffentlichen Raum. Die kleinen hedonistischen Shanties habe ich zwischen Juni und September dokumentiert. Daraus ist gemeinsam mit Lukas Kubina und Jonas König “Schanitown” entstanden, ein Buch über München im Sommer 2020, das nun bei @sorry_press erschienen und ab sofort erhältlich ist. During the summer of 2020, due to Covid–19, Munich’s public space was suddenly conquered by small improvised beer gardens and bar terraces – so called Schanis – built upon parking spots. Gana Art Sounds is pleased to announce its first exhibition with the artist Maria Chang, opening on Wednesday, September 9th. The exhibition features a series of new paintings, Spring Series and In Between-Spring Series, characterized by a thick matière. In the series, In Between that began in 2019, the artist created paintings that were close to relief by using materials that could bring out the volume of the painting, such as plaster and sand. Such sculptural features in the paintings are also revealed in her work style of handling plaster as if carving using tools such as wide-sided knives commonly used for cement-applying, iron brushes, and a rubber spatula. In “Spring Series,” which began at the same time, she began to reveal the colors that had been hidden under the plaster. In the new paintings combined with these features, the traces left by the artist get out of the geometric grid, form the plane rhythmically and make a feast of colors on the surface. This exhibition will provide a glimpse into the spectrum of Maria Chang’s works, who is constantly challenging to find her own language. 가나아트 사운즈는 두텁게 쌓아올린 마티에르의 물성이 두드러지는 장마리아의 신작 회화를 선보이는 개인전, 《MARIA CHANG》을 개최한다. 그의 신작, In Between-Spring Series에는 이전작인 Spring Series와 In Between 연작의 특징이 조합되어 있다. 작가는 2019년부터 시작한 In Between 연작에서 회반죽, 모래, 젤스톤 등 화면의 양감을 살릴 수 있는 재료를 써 부조에 가까운 회화를 만들었다. 시멘트를 바르는 넓은 면의 나이프, 철로 된 붓, 고무 주걱 등의 공구를 사용하여 조각하듯 회반죽을 다루는 작업 방식에서도 그의 회화에서의 조각적 특징이 드러난다. 같은 시기에 시작한 Spring Series 연작에서는 회반죽 아래 가리어져 있던 색채들을 표면으로 자신 있게 드러내기 시작했다. 이러한 특징이 결합된 신작에는 작가가 남긴 화면 위의 흔적이 기하학적인 그리드에서 벗어나 사방으로 자유롭게 뻗어나가며, 화면을 리듬감 있게 구성한다. 그리고 회반죽의 표면으로 올라온 색채의 향연이 시선을 끈다. 이와 같은 신작이 공개되는 이번 개인전은 본인만의 조형언어를 찾고자 끊임없이 변주해가는 장마리아의 작업 세계를 엿볼 수 있는 기회가 될 것이라 기대한다. CARY, NC--The summer issue of 27587 Magazine chose a unique find for our This Classic Place, usually reserved for beautiful family homes, we talked to the architect Matthew Hale and the owners about landmark Raleigh burger joint CHAR-GRILL, its inception in 1959, and how they set themselves apart from the competition by maintaining the flair and quality of small-town drive-ins and by providing great food and great service at a great price. In 1973, Atlantic Christian College graduate Mahlon Aycock and student Ryon Wilder re-opened the restaurant at its current site. Happy Sunday! I think we’re long overdue here for a formal introduction and with so many new followers it’s time you know more about the maker behind the cake! Hi, I’m Alex-I am the artist and owner of Alex Robba Cake! While I’m fairly new in our wedding industry my time spent in the kitchen and with cakes goes back as far as when I was able to hold a spatula in my hand. Baking was a favorite activity I shared with many important people in my family, cakes were always a point of fascination for me. From browsing through old Wilton cake decorator’s instructional yearbooks of decades past in awe (you know I’m talking about plastic pillars, foundations and all!) to mesmerizing frosting recipes in vintage baking magazines; I was hooked! At age 10 I was gifted a Wilton’s Cake Decorating kit and Course for Christmas and after completing all 4 hobbyist courses it only took off from there! Over the years cake decorating was a hobby, something first done for family gatherings, friends and fun turned into a budding business. I pursued formal training in Baking and Pastry Arts from L’Academie de Cuisine where I was immersed in all facets of the industry and I loved every aspect of it but I always knew wedding cakes were where I wanted to specialize. Following my training I worked in the Pastry Department at Park Hyatt in Washington DC where I did everything from plated desserts in their Michelin acclaimed restaurant, tea service desserts, chocolate showpieces and of course wedding cakes. After a rewarding experience in DC I decided to move back to PA, ready to pursue becoming a wedding cake artist as a career. My newly formed style and approach to wedding cakes was greatly influenced from the various workshops I took during my time in DC under instruction of Maggie Austin whom transitioned my focus on perfection to the importance of mistakes and the beauty found in them. From every client email to tasting consultations and the full production of a wedding cake, I’m the person behind all of it. My passion goes far beyond just making a cake, forming a connection and providing something entirely personal to each of my clients is the true satisfaction I take from my craft! - @alexrobbacake on Instagram
