Our camps are about adventure, appreciation of nature, self discovery, and picking up life skills. They are also about giving back to society especially to the neighbouring villages. Over the years our young campers have spent 90 minutes of their afternoon time (post lunch) with children from the neighbouring village. 60 minutes are allocated for teaching a particular subject to the students from the village, followed by 30 minutes of playtime and tea + snacks. This initiative is called 𝗘𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗢𝗻𝗲 and has provided immense value to the young students and their equally young teachers, and has also been very humbling for our young campers. You don’t know one another here; you don’t even know your neighbour. You can do anything, say or wear anything.” #irony . And she was indeed doing, saying and wearing anything. We had only 30 min, she was a little reserved, we didn’t have as instant a camaraderie as I’ve found with other interviewees and interviewers. Still, she was happy to talk freely about her string of relationships. . And laughed about the recent news that she had had a wardrobe malfunction while walking the ramp. “It wasn’t a wardrobe malfunction, the idea was to show my bum cheeks!… Why don’t they want to see that? Why don’t they want to see my bum cheeks!” . Bollywood some generations prior “had a lot more fun than we do, they were a lot more open and chilled out—people were in simultaneous live-in relationships, many were openly homosexual.” Now, the girls were “Miss Goody Two Shoes” and “Everybody’s boring!” . Today, Kangana is brittle and bitter and angry. Hypocrisy and hate harden her heart. A noxious drain for a brain, raging against the liberal-feminist values that gave her voice and agency to begin with. . She presents in six yards of sabhyata in a virginal white saree, seeking the power and protection of the establishment. That image is an emblem of her patriarchal bargain, and also of the patriotic bargain, or what passes as patriotism in the country’s current political climate. . Son un grupo de peruanos que viven en la comunidad “Segunda Casuarinas”, en los cerros de San Juan de Lurigancho, personas muy amables y solidarias, que pese a haber sido duramente golpeados por la pandemia no se dejan vencer y organizan ollas comunes para que a sus niños no les falte que comer. Muchos de ellos incluso se han quedado sin trabajo. This month, I’m helping Community Town Federation (CTF), a women-led community organization of city-wide informal settlement (‘slum’) dwellers in Korail, Dhaka, reach their goal of $5k. Korail is the largest informal settlement in Bangladesh and is home to over 100,000 residents. These urban farmers and daily-wage earners fall among the millions of Bangladeshis who lost jobs and have no source of income due to COVID-19. Many of these women are coping with food insecurity by relying on their existing urban farming practices to feed and sustain themselves. It took us back to that first day in September 2017 when Beach Please was formed. There is a lot of catching up to do at the beach and we have geared up for it. Threat of the pandemic looms over all of us and utmost care must be taken while disposing Facemasks, Gloves, PPEs, etc. to avoid a second wave of Covid -19. We kept the number of participants strictly limited to the core team and we ensured that we followed all the norms advised by the Government and WHO. Hands to Empower An embriodery training workshop for unemployed, marginalised women was meant to be for 3 months but was cut short to 5 weeks due to Covid. With no stipend the women were initially hesitant to join. The only criteria to join was that it was meant for women who wanted to empower their own lives so they could learn/train and not wait for a dole. This journey turned into an amazing story of hope, resilience and faith of the human spirit in beating the odds of Covid. TBT - Simplicidade . Esses eram os meus momentos favoritos do dia, quando estava com as crianças. Esses pequenos não frequentavam a escola onde trabalhei, eles moravam no prédio onde acontecia um dos cursos que fiz enquanto vivi em Varanasi. Elas chegavam da escola e corriam para o telhado para ouvir histórias e cantar músicas, eu simplesmente adorava! Elas riam muito do meu Hindi e quem acabava se divertindo com isso era eu! Olhando essa fotografia eu volto para este o telhado no final da tarde, um pouco antes de ficar frio demais para estar ali. Sinto o cheiro do chai sendo preparado (essas rodinhas aconteciam nos nossos intervalos das aulas), as gargalhadas das crianças e a melodia dos bhajans (canções devocionais a Yeshu). Sinto saudades. Queria ter cantado mais, abraçado mais, gargalhado mais. Como falei antes, eu sou fascinada pelas quatro biografias oficiais de Yeshu, Jesus. Uma delas foi escrita por um judeu chamado Matityahu (Mateus). Este homem era aliado do Império Romano, colonizador da região da palestina há 2000 anos atrás. Matityahu cobrava os impostos romanos dos seus compatriotas, ele não era bem visto por sua comunidade, na verdade ele era abertamente desprezado. Um dia Yeshu o chamou para O seguir, e ele foi, tendo sua vida completamente transformada. Cerca de 70 anos após este encontro, Matityahu escreveu uma das quatro biografias do Guru, e nela relata uma fala de Yeshu que tem um impacto muito grande no meu coração: “(...) se vocês não mudarem totalmente a direção das suas vidas e não se tornarem como crianças, jamais entrarão no reino dos céus. Como os princípios ensinados por Yeshu estão na contra-mão do que acreditamos e defendemos! A criança acredita, sente e percebe em um nível tão diferente do adulto, é realmente admirável. Quando foi que paramos de encarar a vida com a leveza de que o nosso Pai cuida de nós? Quando foi que começamos a permitir que o julgamento do outro reja as nossas escolhas? Quando foi que decidimos que o tempo mais merecedor da nossa atenção é o amanhã e não o que estamos vivendo? Se (...) não se tornarem como crianças jamais entrarão no reino dos céus. Today we are partnering with the Sisters in the Benue State Daudu IDP camp in Nigeria to provide food, sanitization and hygiene products, and trainings on COVID prevention practices. This IDP camp that the Sisters chose to support was 2-4 hours away from them, but they recognized the importance of serving this community given their remote location. Aside from providing food relief (rice, beans, tomatoes, seasonings) and hygiene products (liquid and laundry soap, face masks and hand sanitizers), the team of Sisters also conducted COVID prevention/awareness sessions in the camp leaning on printed In Our Hands posters in English and Hausa, to guide the session and conversations. “The Sisters were happy to receive financial support to serve the remote IDP communities. “Our lives are our own to live. The contentment we get from living life on our own terms is more important than how others view our choices. For several years, I worked in my home town of Kumbakonam. Though most people could identify my trans identity, I tried to hide it and fit in like everyone around me. But things got complicated when my family decided that it was time for me to marry. I couldn’t ruin another woman’s life so I told them that I couldn’t marry and left for Chennai. I’ve now been in Chennai for twelve years, as an openly trans person. I spent the first few years within the guru-chela system that took care of me. After a while, I underwent my gender affirmation surgery. Many people told me not to undergo the SRS surgery but I did, because I believed it was a step towards the life I had been dreaming of. I did it for myself. After this, I had been out of work for a while and had even forgotten the professional skills I used to have. Some companies that interviewed me insisted that my duties would only be behind the scenes. Even though they offered a high salary, I did not want to work somewhere where I was stigmatised and hidden from clients. I now work as a data entry specialist at RmKV. I choose to work here because they respect my choices. I am seen as I want to be seen; a respected lady in a respected job.” Rohita is a beneficiary of PeriFerry’s job placement program. LADAKH 🌎TIMES CEC Kargil lays foundation stone of Kargil Girls’ Hostel at Sidhra,Jammu KARGIL OCTOBER 01, 2020 editorladakhtimes@gmail.com Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan today laid the foundation stone of Kargil Girls’ Hostel at Sidhra Jammu. The project approved under the District Plan at a cost of Rs 10 crores is targeted to be completed by ending June 2021 and will provide accommodation facilities to more than 170 girls’ students. The hostel spread over an area of 5 canals will have besides accommodation facilities like reading room, dining hall, canteen, badminton court and other required facilities. Speaking on the occasion the CEC said that with the establishment of the hostel in Jammu, the accommodation facilities to girl students of the district studying in Jammu will be addressed to some extent. CEC Khan said that the LAHDC Kargil is committed to provide satisfactory residential facilities to Kargili students and travellers in the cities of Srinagar, Jammu and Delhi and concrete measures are being taken to achieve this goal. He said that the repairing and renovation works of Boys Hostel Kargil is presently underway in full swing while ambulance has also been sanctioned for the hostel which is being procured soon. While stressing students to be serious and conscious towards their studies, CEC Khan exhorted upon them to strive for enhancing their capabilities in line with the needs of the present competitive world. Khan also made particular mention of the 3 KAS qualifiers from the district who have cracked the prestigious exams recently and advised students to follow their footsteps to achieve success in life. Meanwhile, representative of Students’ Union Jammu Shahida Akhtar on behalf of the girl students studying in Jammu expressed gratitude to the CEC kargil for having sanctioned the construction of the hostel in Jammu as committed by him during the Annual Function of the students union during the winter season. પીડિતના પરિવારને DMએ કહ્યું - સરકારની વાત માની લો, મીડિયા આજે અહીં છે, કાલે નહીં હોય, બધા ચાલ્યા જશે; પોલીસનો દાવો- યુવતી પર બળાત્કાર નથી થયો હાથરસ જિલ્લામાં દલિત યુવતી પર ગેંગરેપ મામલે DM પ્રવીણ લક્ષકારનો એક વીડિયો વાયરલ થઈ રહ્યો છે. આમાં તેઓ પીડિત પરિવારને ધમકાવતા જોવા મળે છે. DM કહે છે કે તમારી વિશ્વસનીયતા જાળવો. મીડિયા આજે અહીં છે, કાલે નહીં હોય. બધા ચાલ્યા જશે. તમે સરકારની વાત માની લો. તમે વારંવાર નિવેદનમાં ફેરફાર કરીને સારું કરી રહ્યા નથી. શું ખબર, કાલે અમે જ બદલાઈ જઈશું. ઉત્તરપ્રદેશ પોલીસનું કહેવું છે કે અલીગઢ હોસ્પિટલના મેડિકલ રિપોર્ટમાં પીડિતાના શરીર પર ઇજા હતી, પણ દુષ્કર્મની પુષ્ટિ કરવામાં આવી નથી. ડોકટરનું કહેવું છે કે ફોરેન્સિક રિપોર્ટ આવ્યા પછી આ મામલે વધુ કહી શકાય છે. શું છે ગેંગરેપનો સમગ્ર મામલો હાથરસ જિલ્લાના ચાંદપા વિસ્તારના ગામમાં 14 સપ્ટેમ્બરના રોજ 4 લોકોએ 19 વર્ષની યુવતી પર ગેંગરેપ કર્યો હતો. આરોપીએ મહિલાની કમર તોડી નાખી હતી અને તેની જીભ પણ કાપી નાખી હતી. પીડિતાનું દિલ્હીમાં સારવાર દરમિયાન મોત નીપજ્યું હતું. ચારેય આરોપીની ધરપકડ કરવામાં આવી છે. ભારે પોલીસ બંદોબસ્ત વચ્ચે મંગળવારે મોડી રાત્રે મહિલાના મૃતદેહની અંતિમ વિધી કરવામાં આવી હતી. જો કે, પરિવાર વતી આરોપ લગાવવામાં આવ્યા છે કે પોલીસે તેમની પુત્રીનો બળજબરીપૂર્વક અંતિમ સંસ્કાર કર્યો હતો. તેનો ચહેરો પણ બતાવવામાં આવ્યો ન હતો. પોલીસે કહ્યું- બે વિડીયો સામે આવ્યા, તેમાં દુષ્કર્મની વાત નથી કહેવામા આવી એડીજી લો એન્ડ ઓર્ડર પ્રશાંત કુમારે હાથરસ ગેંગરેપ કેસ અંગે જણાવ્યું હતું કે સરકાર અને પોલીસની બદનામી કરવામાં આવી રહી છે. અમે આવા કરનારાઓના નિવેદનો ચકાસી રહ્યા છીએ. ઘટનાના દિવસના બે વીડિયો આજે સામે આવ્યા છે. તે પીડિત સાથેની મારપીટની વાત તેમાં કહેવામા આવી છે. તેણે કહ્યું કે પીડિતા અથવા તેની માતાએ બળાત્કારની વાત કરી નથી. પીડિતાએ એક વીડિયોમાં પોતાની જીભ પણ દેખાડી છે જે કપાયેલી નથી. 22 સપ્ટેમ્બરે પહેલી વખત દુષ્કર્મનો આરોપ લગાવ્યો હતો. પીડિતાના પોસ્ટમોર્ટમ રિપોર્ટમાં ગાળાના ભાગે ઇજા અને શોકથી મૃત્યુ નીપજયું હોવાની વાત કહેવામા આવી છે. @sayaji_nagari_vadodara_ Turn on Post Notification. . . .#sayajinagarivadodara #sayaji #sayajibagh #officialvadodara #barodacity #ourvadodara #gujarat #barodarocks #aapduvadodara #barodagoogle #vadodara_igers #vadodaradiaries #vadodara_lover #vadodara_live_ #VadodaraTraffic #VadodaraTrafficPolice #barodian #instagram #baroda #TPOV_ - @sayaji_nagari_vadodara_ on Instagram

Back in April, we launched the Angaza Project, Kakenyas Dreams emergency response to the COVID-19 crisis. Through the Angaza Project, we deliver care packages containing vital supplies including food, feminine hygiene products, study materials, and solar lights and radios for distance learning to each of our students households. In May, we distributed the first round of care packages to our girls and their families. Another round of care packages was distributed in July, and our third round of distributions is happening now! Our Aahar - Child Health and Nutrition Program - COVID Yoddhas (Volunteers) conducted a series of activities in Dharavi this Ganeshotsav. Keeping in mind the current scenario, our COVID Yoddhas approached local Ganeshotsav mandals, to help spread awareness on taking precautions during COVID-19. Our Yoddhas and staff coordinated with the MCGM and put up COVID-19 awareness posters with the help of these Ganpati mandals in Dharavi. COVID Yoddhas also organized a 2-day drawing competition for children as a part of our awareness spreading initiatives on COVID-19. The children enjoyed the drawing activities, as they got a recreational and educational platform. They shared COVID-19 prevention messages with their families and peers. It takes $60 to feed 30 children a well nourished big plate of food for one day in Roatan. Roatan may very well be one of the friendliest places in the world. The common phrases “Buenas” or “Mornin” can be heard in the streets at every corner of the island from those living in Roatan and even from travelers. It’s common to be greeted by strangers in Roatan and to become accustomed to this. The culture of “ Buenas” makes Roatan one of the best places to travel and to live. The islanders have lived together biculturally in harmony. “Mornin’ “ is a greeting half of them say and “Buenos” from the other half depending on heritage. I think this is a wonderful practice and it’s not surprising if you consider the fact that Roatan is an interesting collection of different cultures. Though Roatan is not small the communities there are. This creates a level of comfort despite different cultures, colors and contradictions. Next time your traveling in your own area consider taking a lesson from the culture of Buenas and sharing a smile with a stranger or even a “Hello”. Though in western culture it is not common place to greet strangers; maybe embracing that friendlier side of ourselves will provide some comfort and help strengthen local communities during these difficult times. A young Indian man has devoted his days to teach to students in New Delhi slums, where they do not have access to Internet as well as electronic tools such as computers that are needed for online education. In an outdoor classroom, Satyendra Pal Shakya, conducts classes to 9th and 10th graders, who are normally supposed to attend to their schools online classes. As the public curfew was imposed on March 22, 2020, and as soon as the order for online classes started in July, we started this where children lived with neither electricity nor drinking water, and a house to live properly, says Shakya. In such a situation, many people have neither laptops, nor phones, and some have problems like charging and Internet problems. Shakya himself lives in poverty with his farmer parents and helps them in fields whenever he has free time, in a an effort to ease their burden. He teaches to students voluntarily so that they do not fall behind their peers when life returns to normal and schools reopen. Educational institutions have been closed in the country since March as a measure against the spread of COVID-19. #internationaldayforolderpersons भगवान राम जी के सिर पर , राजा दशरथ का हाथ था । माता कौशल्या , सुमित्रा के मन में , ढेर सारा प्यार था । माता कैकेयी का भी नाता , राम जी से आत्मीयता का था । बातों को इनके राम जी ने , कभी टाला ही नहीं था । बुजुर्ग नहीं , राम जी ने इन्हें गुरुजन मान लिया था ।। लंकापती रावण जी के साथ भी , माता कैकसी का सहवास था । नाना जी माल्यवान का दरबार में , मुख्य सचिव का दर्जा था । फिर भी युद्ध के समय , रावण जी ने सब अनसुना किया था । अपने निर्णय को ही हमेशा , शायद अंतिम मान लिया था । बुजुर्गों के आशीर्वाद को अनजाने में , वाजिब समझा ही नहीं था ।। परिणाम से अर्थात सब परिचित हैं । बड़े-बुजुर्गों का मत कितना उचित हैं । इनके बातों से जुडी सच्ची गहराई हैं । दास्तान ऐसी इर इतिहास ने दोहराई हैं । न जाने ऐसे कितने अफ़साने हैं । बड़ो की अहमियत से रह गए बेगाने हैं । विचारों में इनके सही रिवाज हैं । वरना सभी के अपने भी कुछ मिजाज हैं । फिर भी नतीजों का इन्हें ख्य़ाल हैं । क्योंकी अंदाज इनके भी बेमिसाल हैं । कभी मौका मिले तो जरूर देखना , इनके पैरों के साथ मन को भी छू लेना , आगे हुए रुई समान करीबी हाथों में , माँ के आँचल का एहसास मिलता है । गिरते हुए पैसों के बजाय , कभी गिरते हुए बुजुर्ग को उठाना , असली सुख , समाधान , शांति और जन्नत का रास्ता यहीं से जाता है । परिवार के बुजुर्गों से ही शुरुवात करना , इनके सम्मान को अपने से दूर होने न देना , मंजिल का रास्ता भी देखो कभी पूछकर परामर्श और दुआ का खजाना मिलता है ।। #aashmanfoundation #newdelhi #nishulakpathshala #freeeducation - @aashmanfoundation on Instagram
