I spent the last few days packing up copies of my EMOH reissue LP for #1 the first 7 people that signed up for my subscription series back on August 6th (surprisingly about 12 people joined that day, apologies to those who didn’t get th bonus).. #2 the 10 people that bought it last week, also surprisingly, it sold out in about 10 minutes.. thanks for all your support, it means a lot.. I’m smiling, also, because I used all the trash lying around the house to make the packaging..it took a lot of scissor-thru-cardboard work and wrangling streams of sticky tape..I haven’t packed this much stuff in years and it felt pretty satisfying once I came to terms with th task at hand.. just like, y’know..everything..foto by @adellelouise - @loubarlow on Instagram

@oscarmulerooficial’s DJ career has been as prolific and long lasting as the evolution of dance music. As a key figure in its development, Oscar has always absorbed new trends and kept his finger on the pulse of electronic dance music, from the end of the 80’s right up to the present day. It is impossible to understand his genius without taking into account the tireless work he has carried out behind the decks for over two decades. Production-wise hes been releasing records since the late nineties, with countless 12 vinyls and several studio albums, as well as many remixes for the best players in the scene. He runs his very own Warm Up imprint since 2000 and the Pole Group Records label since 2004. From 2013 he started working in live A/V performances under several project names like Light and Dark or Biolive. 2017 celebrates the 50th releases milestone for his Warm Up Recordings, compiling the previously released stuff on the Pattern Series with brand new remixes. 2018 will start with the next album in the pipeline, this time totally experimental, no dance numbers no upbeats, title will be ‘Perfect Peace’, that sums it all. - @structureldn on Instagram

- Picked this up during a trip to Liverpool this week. Couldn’t be more excited with this find!

Cati Tete (vocals) and Gérard Pelletier (synthesizers) formed Deux in Lyon in 1983, releasing just two singles before disappearing. They briefly resurfaced a couple of times in the years since then, but Pelletier sadly died in 2013 at the age of 60. Deux’s ‘Europe’ c/w ‘Paris / Orly’ single, which was first released in 1985, is one of the most collectible records of the early minimal wave scene. Here is their single remastered and reissued via a collaboration with @electronicsoundmag, Issue 51. During #Nirvana’s meteoric rise to fame after the release of #Nevermind, @KurtCobain was most often seen playing his 1965 Fender Jaguar. Kurt bought his guitar from an ad in a 1991 LA Recycler classifieds magazine. But this wasn’t just any Jaguar. It had an unusual amount of mods, including an extra volume pot, three-way pickup switch and dual humbuckers. It came with a professional-quality touring case, but the previous owner’s identity was unknown. The guitar’s origins remained a mystery for decades, until 2014 when an eagle-eyed message board user named Blazer spotted Kurt’s guitar in a video of a Cliff Richards show from 1980. The left-handed guitar was in the hands of Martin Jenner, guitarist for Cliff Richard and The Everly Brothers. Though nothing has been 100% confirmed, Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic tweeted about the guitar, saying it “makes sense that its the same axe. #LegendHasIt - @fenderplay on Instagram

Legitimately one of my favorite records I’ve ever been a part of. I got to come on as the A&R at Interscope earlier this year before Covid hit. From the first time I heard some of the demos I knew this album was special. Working alongside @machinegunkelly @travisbarker the EST crew and all the collaborators on this has been an awesome ride. Largely because as a young impressionable high schooler this is the genre of music I fell in love with. The Used, Blink, Rise Against, AFI, Story, My Chem, thrice, third eye blind (purists May have problems with some of the above... idk I like what I like) were all artists I idolized.. fast forward to today, MGK dropped one of the best pop punk albums I’ve ever heard!!!! Botch’s American Nervoso was where I began to find my footing at steering the making of a record. It was a quick one, three days of recording and two of mixing if I recall, but there was still time to be creative when ideas arose. These guys also became some of my closest friends. As a kid born out of the late 80’s HC scene I loved loud, angry music. As a slightly older human I enjoyed the musical dissonance that came from the next evolution loud music scene. Born Against, Heroin, HHIG, etc. Botch had begun to mine those areas but obviously bring their own influences to the cacophony. The meter flip in Dali’s Praying Mantis still trips me out. Tim had a bit of trouble playing it but said if he wrote it out properly on sheet music he would be able to play it. Sure enough it solved it, much to my confusion. Love the end piano on Oma, love the harmonic bends on John Woo, have a soft spot for Hives too even though I may be more alone in that. Hutton’s was one of the songs that truly lasted, but it was also the first song we tracked for the record. There are some minor criticisms I have of the recording of that song that led to one of my ongoing supersitions: NEVER record the first song on an album first. For the final post celebrating the year anniversary of Changes, I’m turning it over to Terry Cole, owner of Colemine Records (and the graphic designer behind the album art). Here’s what he has to say about the artwork: “Whenever Im designing an album I always want to thread the needle by making it feel classic, but also firmly rooted in the present. And getting the classic part right means details. Whether its coloration, scale, font choice, etc. all those things come together in the right package to evoke some very familiar feelings and hopefully open the listeners ears. Its the hype stickers job to put a fine point on it. For Neals record, we were hoping to evoke subtle hints to NOLA, but we were looking at a lot of ATCO record designs from the early 70s. The font was something we were waiting to use on the right artist. I first saw it on the back cover of Electric Ladyland and immediately made sure it was in my repertoire. And that photo of Neal! It was just so spot on, so I knew all we needed to do was give it the right color treatment and wed be most of the way there. In keeping with classic elements, we kept the back black and white, and Ive always loved having easy access to lyrics, so it felt great to be able to get all of that in a simple one panel for the back cover. The design on the back came from a photo of a furnace cover. Neal had sent us some design references and I realized we had quick access to a design that was in his wheelhouse. Neals album cover and package feels so in the spirit of him and his influences....and that feels good. I hope folks agree.” - @nealfrancismusic on Instagram

My obsession with Anthony Moores shelved 1976 Virgin Records album Out has finally manifested in its first ever vinyl release, coming OUT November 2020 via Drag City! After many discussions with Mr. Moore and taking the album to various labels to find/generate interest, I was finally able (thanks to Emmett Kelly 🙌) to liaise Anthony with Drag City who took the ball and ran with it. The album, recorded in 1975, did actually see a sketchy release in the 90s as a cd and with new album art, but this is the first time it will be on vinyl and with the original album art by Hipgnosis.
