Theres so much to say & too much to unpack. Simply put, Im not buying into this whole customer is always right & should be treated XYZ mentality. Most of my customers have been patiently waiting, understanding & gentle for 9+ months. On the other hand those who havent have been loud, quippy & judgemental. . I do not own a business for your approval so saying that youre disappointed in me is grotesque. If you are not a business owner or Black/Chinese woman do not pretend that you have a grasp on how I should react or respond during this pandemic while dealing with 40K+ customers in a consumer goods space. . I didnt work this hard for 6 years for you to tell me my company is trash because I brought to light how offended I was as an artist & African-American about specific customer complaints. And I certainly did not work this hard for you to tell me that its unprofessional to speak out about it to my audience. . I will not be silenced, enslaved or oppressed by you. Im not the help. I do not work for you. I find this kind of privilege offensive & ignorant. . To be blunt, most of those who have been vocal also have BLACKLIVESMATTER cards in their IG bios... Naturally systemic racism wont be fixed overnight so please try to listen to the experiences of those who are brave enough to speak out. . On a lighter note we have purchased 300 more hats to ship next month. Meaning our backlog will most likely be cleared out by Thanksgiving. Expedited hats ship this week for Halloween. Prism hats will likely land for Christmas. And we have refunded those who have tried to chastise our reputation. . I cant believe how many times I have to say this but truly THANK YOU to those who have been patient, listening & thoughtful. THANK YOU everyone for all your support lately, weve not been as ridiculously rammed this last week but weve still been filling up the majority of our appointments. So, thank you to our customers, old and new for trusting us during these weird times. Covid has already hit the hair and beauty industry hard. We were forced to close our doors for 4 of our busiest months costing us over a third of our yearly revenue. Yes, we were given a business grant which, in our case at least, thankfully kept our business afloat. These are weird times were living in and it all has a knock on effect, theres no weddings, festivals, holidays, people are still too scared, theyve also been shaving their hair, got the Mrs to have a bash or just got used to not getting it cut so regularly. Lots of Barbershops I know have seen a downturn in trade. Weve all noticed it. Whilst I applaud the assistance currently being given to the hospitality industry by reducing their VAT to 5% and the eat out to help out vouchers. I do feel our industry is being slightly hard done by. The food outlets were still allowed to operate during lockdown on a takeaway basis. We were unable to operate in any capacity yet our VAT is still at the standard rate and there are no haircut vouchers being handed out. I am not out to bash the government at all, I think theyve done a pretty good job generally. Without the grant and the furlough scheme we would have been in big trouble. I certainly wouldnt want to be the decision maker at a time like this because youre always going to upset someone! So, thats where were at 5 weeks post lockdown - Were still rebuilding, were still trying to recover, were still smashing the cleaning, were still here doing everything we can to keep our team and clients safe and our business going. The whole industry needs your support more than ever. Book those appointments, buy those hair products, and give your barber/hairdresser/beautician a tip, they need it! Ich bin so erschöpft vom Reagieren. Ich bin so erschöpft vom Empören. Bäh, der AfD-Typ hat „vergasen“ gesagt. Irre dieser Trump, der hat nur 750 Dollar Steuern gezahlt. Wie schafft ihr es immer und immer wieder, erstaunt zu sein? Ich will nur in einen 100jährigen Schlaf fallen“, schreibt die tolle @hatice.akyun auf Twitter, und ich kann sie sehr gut verstehen. Besonders an Tagen, an denen wieder so etwas Verachtenswertes (Nazi-Scheiß vom AfD-Typ), Widerwärtiges (BILD zeigt Vergewaltigungsopfer), oder Bigottes (Trump macht irgendwas) passiert. Aber dann passieren doch schöne Sachen. Auch heute wieder: Eine Frau hat mir im Interview erzählt, wie sie aus einer tiefen Lebenskrise herausgefunden hat. Wie sie aus beruflichem und privaten Morast wieder an die Oberfläche gekommen ist. Wie sie wieder atmen konnte und sich aus ihrem metaphorischen Zwinger befreit hat. Wie gut es ihr inzwischen geht und wie sehr sie sich und ihr Leben mag. Und das war so schön und anrührend und ermutigend und beispielgebend. Ein tolles Gegengewicht. Und dann fiel mir wieder ein, dass ja ganz offenbar eine große Mehrheit den Mist (von oben) verachtenswert, widerwärtig und bigott findet. Und das ist toll. Und dann bin ich gar nicht mehr so müde.
