Like a bird in a cage, trying to fly away. Is this the price that we have to pay? Overflowing with rage, yet we still obey cause were asleep in a hurricane. We sit on a throne, waiting for God to bend the knee but were nothing more than royal beggars Holy Hell by Architects Song - Royal Beggars I truly did not think Id come around with this album when I first heard it. I thought some of the tracks just felt copy and pasted a bit, I thought it got one dimensional at times and Sams vocals just sounded more annoying on this record compared to others in their catalog. Obviously I have now very much come around. Its definitely not my favorite record from them but this track, Hereafter, Doomsday all just beautifully showcase the writing Tom wouldve been proud to hear in their final forms. Heres a low-res copy of a photo of Mike Bloomfield with a Les Paul Sunburst, a picture taken in 1978 by guitarist and engineer Robb Lawrence. At the time, MB was being interviewed by Lawrence for the The Wizard of Waukesha, a documentary film about the legendary Les Paul (the man, not the guitar). The guitar was not Michaels 59 Standard – that storied instrument was lost in Vancouver in 1974 – but one that belonged to guitarist Robbie Dunbar of the band Earth Quake. Filming took place and MBs friend Norman Dayrons apartment, but this photo was probably taken at Michaels Reed St. home. On the wall are pictures of Dottie, Bloomfields mother, Nick Gravenites and Barry Goldberg, as well as a poster for a WNAP-sponsored gig with Mark Naftalin at the Rivoli in Indianapolis on June 2, 1973. MBs enthusiasm for the guitar is clearly evident from his wide-eyed expression, but he never again played one in performance. Any idea what chord hes playing?
