This Road Logic BreakAway was a bit of a bin build as the Force group was left over from another build, the SuperLogic wheels had been discontinued by the time we shot the bike and the WCS group was a mix of samples and spares. In 1975 my mama idee Simon moved to New York. A lil jersey gerl looking for her way in the world. She tells me that In 1976 she bought this bike so she could ride around with her best friend who she just met at the hungarian pastry shop. Martha. In 1976 she was 25 (until October 20th, a Libra queen) Last fall we learned she had developed lung cancer, and it all happened pretty fast. I was moving through big heartbreak when we found out, read: I was Fragile and also Preoccupied. In January we learned the treatments were working and she was cancer free. She is still cancer free today. And now at 26, I am using the bicycle that she got in 1976 feeling maybe too grateful to her, and to all her friends who helped raise me. My ride. Colnago C40 Mapei 52 cm traditional. Yes Iโve shared this one before when I had it built to original spec with Dura Ace. Found I wasnโt riding it so decided to do a modern rebuild as bikes are meant to be ridden. Went Campagnolo 80th Anniversary since I have a few kits I was hoarding ๐. Carbon 3t bar and had to run a quill adapter so I could run a modern 3T stem. Found a PowerTap laying around so laced it to some Carbon Tubular Vision hoops cuz a guy needs to see his lack of watts. Glued up my favorite Veloflex Criteriumโs. 15.14 lbs as it sits. Not bad for a frame from 1995. The C40 is a true icon in the Road world. From about 1995 to 2000 the C40 won numerous races from Roubaix to Worlds. A frame that in my opinion started the Carbon revolution. Cool enough that itโs Sir Wiggins favorite bike. Have been logging the kmโs on it and forgot how amazing of a ride it was. But hey itโs a Nag so I shouldnโt be surprised. Italian bikes should always be built with Campagnolo but what do I know.
