Yesterday morning after 2 days of labor and 15 minutes of pushing, we welcomed our precious 6lb14oz baby girl, Anaïs Karaya, earthside via planned natural homebirth! We had an amazing team of 2 midwives for our entire prenatal care and can’t imagine how we would’ve survived this pregnancy journey without them. We also couldn’t have made it through the active phase of labor without our doula who stepped in last minute while our other doula attended another birth! Thank you to our family and friends for loving this baby from the moment you found out she was in the womb. Thank you to everyone who checked in on us and gave us so much love and support during this pregnancy! We are so in love! I can do hard things, yet I still crumble from time to time. From the history of my posts this year it’s been a lot of falling and getting back up, optimism and honesty. Another real life moment here. First, my husband is amazing, he has been carrying us a bit these last 5 days (I know it has been that long since I just fell flat). I crumbled the day our world turned orange- I’ve been beating back the hard hard feelings to just keep on going, because truly we’ve got no choice and that’s what I imagine we all have to do right now, fight or flight. The options are extremely minimal by way of self-care. I was mad at myself because “you’re stronger than that.” Which just lead me to more tears. I just shared about Runner’s World and have a whole journal I’ve planned to share pieces of, I just shared about how I love new beginnings, Monday’s and 1sts because I do. That doesn’t mean I’m exempt from starting strong on Monday and falling flat by Wednesday, I just keep trying and keep going. Strength and vulnerability are not mutually exclusive. Also tomorrow is Monday 🥰. • Anyway- if you’re on the west coast, I’m with you. If you’re not send positive vibes for some rain and relief and health and vitality. I’m so sorry to everyone and everything that has lost homes and is without any help. • To my postpartum mommas especially to the ones on the west coast, deep breaths and seek out resources for some mental support, I need it to. There are many days I feel helpless towards you but there are never days that I don’t try. Update: This week we were contacted by the children’s vision team for our borough. It was a referral made by Moorfields to help with her development. They explained the specialised support they would be able provide Teigan all the way up to 18. They even have their own sensory room which we can book in to stimulate her vision. We have arranged our initial meeting and can’t wait to tap into the services, advice and tips they have to help Tiggy as much as possible. They gifted me 2 Matte Constance Long-Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Red and Peach 💄💋and Cabaret Premiere Artistic Volume Mascara in Black. ⠀ 𝑴𝒚 𝑶𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒊𝒆𝒘 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒅𝒖𝒄𝒕𝒔:———————————————- I have to say that the colors are very pigmented and they are definitely long lasting, hell I was wiping my lips off so hard to remove it....FYI, I don’t my oil base cleanser with me. It dies not have a smell to it. I must say with the peach color, I had to play with it to get it to look like I have the same applied everywhere than looking like I have the least about on my upper lip and a lot on my bottom. ⠀ As for the mascara, it was very much basic for me me. I would just used this when I wear faux lashes. É ser a rainha da impotência, por ver o sofrimento do seu bebê e não poder fazer nada. É ter lágrimas escorrendo pelo rosto todo o dia por não poder sentir seu cheirinho. Mais ser mãe de prematuro é superação e ter histórias pra conta, é conta o tempo de um jeito diferente. Idade cronológica é idade corrigida. É sair da uti com festas e palmas, e deixar por lá amigos eternos. Ser mãe de prematuro é ter medo de vento e de inverno. Toda mãe é um ser guerreiro por natureza. Happy Mother’s Day to all the mommies out there. I’ve been blessed to go through this journey 3X and honestly I’d do it again but I’m gonna have a seat. AJ would cry 😭. I remember in each of these pictures looking at my body in disbelief like how am I gonna come back from this?!?!?! 😫 Are you gonna be cool with these kids after they leave you with all this baggage?!?! F$&king saggy tits, extra weight, varicose veins, bald edges, fat feet, etc. I mean really! But you get past all that once you see their face. I’m so thankful that God chose me to be the mother of these 3 kids because I don’t know where I’d be without them. They complete me. They make me feel like I have a purpose and like no matter how hard things get, they cheer me on as if I came in first place. This Mom life is hard y’all. Some people make it look easy but I would never say it is. It’s easy to love them, no doubt. But when you want to be selfish, irresponsible, alone, cute, in shape, drunk, and the list goes on..... they throw a wrench in your shit so quick. They’re demanding! And the way I did it in 3 years......dammit! I haven’t had real sleep since 2015! But guess what, I wouldn’t change it for the world. All I do is for them. All I want is for them. Too often we as leaders deal put our needs to the back burner and help others, but, you reach a point where you HAVE to process what youve been through. I deployed 2017-2018 and some of those things I tried to bury resurfaces. A month after my PTSD diagnosis, on July 26th I was diagnosed with Stage 1 Breast Cancer. Had such a bullshit week. Creating change around racism is so hard on the mind, the body and the spirit - especially when the racism is coming at you from a work place (for me it’s the Australian TV and Film Industry) let alone everyday life. What I’m tired of is employers, colleagues, peers, media still treating this like this is an intellectual topic when it’s something that’s very real, very visceral for the people who are affected - perpetrated by people who claim ignorance and no ill will. I am so angry, hurt, and haven’t felt so low since processing the trauma of homophobia. My nervous system feels shot. Thankfully, I have access to resources. And my gf has been tremendously supportive too. Many people don’t have access to a support network and that makes me mad too. To those who I called out privately this week, you have a lot to answer for. And don’t think for a second that people like me will continue to suffer in silence. Este fin de semana tuve la linda oportunidad de participar en un evento virtual de Danzas Venezolanas. 💃🏽 Fui invitada por la bella @bailartesyt quien tiene un súper proyecto de promoción cultural 🥁 Se llama La Red Nacional de Danzas venezolanas @rndanzatradicionalve y junto a su equipo de producción lograron reunir alrededor de 25 músicos y bailadores de todo el país, dentro y fuera de Venezuela. El evento duró dos días, y pese a las dificultades de conexión de internet para los que estaban en Venezuela, fue un gran éxito!!! ✨🇻🇪✨ . Me siento muy feliz de haber formado parte de este equipo porque fue un lugar (virtual) de reencuentro con amigos y de conocer a otros que ahora forman parte de mi pequeño pero importante mundo de la danza. 💃🏽 ✨ . That smile makes it all worth it. Every day is a day full of wonder and excitement. If you saw my stories earlier, I’m like you just another human being trying to make sense of the world we live in. She doesn’t know it yet, but I wake up everyday knowing that my goal is that she makes it through the day with that smile on her face. Her and sister. I want them both to know that there are few bad seeds in the garden, but it doesn’t take away from the beauty of the garden. No matter what’s out there, at home they are safe. When they take their bath, they can splash the water around and rinse off today’s worries. As I massage their little toes with @johnsonsbabyca bedtime lotion, they know they won’t be judged for their looks, their successes or their failures. They are loved unconditionally. With smiles and giggles we enjoy each other’s company and let the lavender smell soothe our senses. We are safe at home enjoying another successful day.
