Will the people affected by my decisions understand my point of view? My general standpoint is that if I give my word, I am 100% committed to following through. Today, I backed out of a commitment I had made when the world was a bit less uncertain. I’ve spent all week desperately debating with myself, wondering which decision was the right one. In the end, I decided to trust myself and my instincts. I couldn’t participate in good conscience, especially with the situation in Switzerland getting progressively worse. I’ve felt awful about it all day and have been struggling to process my feelings. I cannot bear the thought of disappointing people and for that reason, I struggle with saying “no”. I still don’t feel so good and have shed quite a few tears today, but I know that I’ve made the right decision in the current situation. Einer der wichtigsten Bausteine jeder meiner Yoga-Stunden ist das Singen von OM. Viele mögen sich anfangs beim Singen von diesem langen Laut unwohl fühlen oder empfinden es als zu spirituell. Doch wenn man den Gedanken hinter dem OM kennt, versteht man auch die Bedeutung und die Wichtigkeit dieser zwei Buchstaben!🙏 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ OM kommt ursprünglich aus dem Sanskritwort AUM. Dabei steht der Buchstabe A für den Wahzustand, U für den Traumzustand und M für den Schlafzustand. Die drei Buchstaben symbolisieren alles auf der Erde. Sie sind die Länge, Breite und Tiefe und gemeinsam drücken sie die Göttlichkeit aus. Sie stehen für das Männliche, Weibliche und Sachliche, während das ganze Sanskritwort die gesamte Schöpfung symbolisiert. Sie stehen für die drei Gunas, also die drei Arten von Gedanken und Eigenschaften - Sattva, Rajas und Tamas . AUM steht für die Vergangenheit, Gegenwart und Zukunft, während das gesamte Symbol den Schöpfer symbolisiert. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Während wir also das OM singen, verbinden wir uns mit alles und allem um uns herum. Wir verbinden uns mit allen anderen, die mit uns Yoga praktizieren, wir verbinden uns mit der Natur, mit der Erde, mit uns selbst und erkennen, dass wir alle ein Teil des Universums sind. The sixth chakra named Ajna, in one of my favorite researches it is said the element is thought, and the lesson of this third eye is of Acceptance, and if you reflect about it when you accept something it doesn’t even cross your mind anymore, right? But when we don’t accept a situation we can’t stop thinking about it, some food for thought, forgive the redundancy 😅 what have you not accepted fully? We are in between seasons right now, transitioning from Summer to Autumn - seasonal changes are associated with the Earth Element in Yin Yoga and with the Stomach & Spleen meridians. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When we slide from one phase to another, wether its the 4 seasons or personal changes in life, it can be helpful to strengthen these energetic systems in order to feel grounded, stable and anchored - especially this year 2020 which feels like one big crazy slide and we still dont know when we will arrive at the other end. I hope this sequence helps. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We will focus on stretching the top of the thighs (Stomach Meridian) and inner thighs and groin area (Spleen Meridian) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Do each asymmetrical pose on both sides holding poses for 10-20 breaths. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1. Flapping fish pose - on your belly pull one you knee up. 2. Swinx pose - lift up on onto your elbows, breath into your belly. 3. Rest your head on one arm, bend one knee and hold the ankle to stretch the thigh. 4. Child pose with knees very wide to stretch the groins and inner legs. 5. Straddle - hands behind you for support or on the thighs. Focus on stretching the inner legs. 6. Saddle Pose - with knees bent lie back on the mat or on a few pillows. Alternative for sensitive knees: Repeat pose number 3 but hold both ankles at the same time now. 7. Butterfly pose - knees bent, soles of the feet together. Sit tall or pul the navel forward to increase the stretch in the groin and inner leg area. 8. Seated Twist - spine straight, turn your heart to one side, then switch the shins up and rotate to the other side. 9. Finish in seated meditation or Savasana for a few minutes. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You can follow along my Youtube video (link in bio) or just look at the pics combined with the explanations above. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Let me know how it goes :) PS. #Repost @rise_and_blooom ・・・ For day 4 of #YogisTwist4Autumn challenge it’s time for a laying down twist!🥰 Here is one of my ultimate favorite laying down spinal twists! I incorporate it into my practice almost all the time, just because it feels so good for my back, shoulders and neck! 🌱THE GALLBLADDER MERIDIAN: Which choice is the right choice? 🤔⠀ ⠀ ✨In my latest blog, I talked about Spring health according to Chinese medicine. The organs related to springtime in TCM are the Liver and Gallbladder. While the liver is usually the star of the show, I think its important to pay attention to what the Gallbladder meridian needs to maintain balance and health too!⠀ ⠀ ✨The GB meridian consists of 44 points and travels the entire length of the body from head to toe. It begins at the corner of the eye and weaves back and forth on the side of the head and behind the ear. From there, it extends to the top of the shoulder to one of my favorite points, GB21. It then continues all the way down the rib cage to the side of the hip and down the lateral side of the leg until it finally reaches over the foot to end at the 4th toe. ⠀ ⠀ ✨The gallbladder meridian in Chinese medicine is responsible for our capacity to make decisions and having the courage to act on them. It gives us the push to steer away from procrastination and timidness. It also gives the body the capacity of movement by helping the bodys flexibility and tendon strength. 🤸‍♀️ ⠀ ✨Its a part of a system in TCM called the 6 Extraordinary Yang Organs. Unlike the typical yang organs in TCM which deal with food and liquids, the GBs only concern is storing bile. It also has a strong influence on the sides of our head and body. Kurī whakamuri // downward facing dog, with my little “Rooster” having a play. Even from a young age my kids knew “mum does yoga”. They soak it all in, and can practice some asana very proficiently! But they only last about 5 mins then they’ve had enough. They learn mindfulness at school through a programme called “Pause Beathe Smile”, and tell me all about how they can calm themselves down if they go into the “red zone”. We’ve also used the Headspace app, listening to the kids meditations before bed. They know mum teaches yoga online on Thursday mornings from the lounge, and they have to keep the noise down for just 45 mins! Im excited to announce that our 13th Annual Yoga On The Beach is only 3 days away!😁   This year our Annual Yoga On The Beach will be held at Woodbine Beach which is located at 1675 Lake Shore Blvd East. The event is from 2pm-3:30pm and the meeting spot for 2pm will be at the beach by the Olympic Pool. We will meet on the south side of the building facing the water. The cost to attend is $20 which can be paid by email transfer to frantastic_d@hotmail.com or if cash payment is preferred you can pay me the day of the event upon arrival. Also thanks to those that have already sent me the money. For those that might have missed the original invite that was sent out a few weeks back here is a list of whats included for this Sundays event:   60 minute Yoga class taught by Fran-tastic! Professional photographer capturing the entire event Raffle ticket for 3 amazing prizes to be won worth over $200 each! A safe socially distanced class outdoors That feel good feeling that only a Yoga class can give you!   Everyone is welcome to attend this event so feel free to spread the word and invite your friends and family along. The theme for the class is based on the promise i made a few months back in one of my YouTube videos, we will focus on the Booty, Belly & Thighs! This is typically our annual pre caribana yoga class that unfortunately didnt get to happen this year so that means ill be bringing the island beats to this Yoga class. My persistence and positivity has given me the strength to help my body heal. I’ve been experimenting with a vegan diet over the last month. You may know I’ve had lots of my large bowel and small bowel removed through stage 4 cancer. (The part of the large bowel removed meant that I have had to retrain my body to stop myself rushing off to the loo every 5 minutes, so a high fibre high diet would have prevented me from leaving the toilet door let alone my house). I had to have 70% of my liver resected and gall bladder removed. I suffered immensely for years not being able to eat one thing and another. I discovered I had bile salts malabsorption which means I must stick to a strict low fat diet and a vegan diet contains lots of high fat! Good fats or bad fats, there’s no exceptions when it comes to bile salts malabsorption. . I am quietly excited to say my body has been finely tuned to manage a vegan diet that is currently suiting me and I’m loving it. (It’s been a rollercoaster I won’t lie!) I’ve had to deny my body of most fruits and vegetables for years, simply because my body couldn’t take it. When it comes to following diets, I strongly believe you have to do what’s right for you at the present time in your life. Today I was inspired by @doctoronivftrain to join the #myrtle challenge started by @myjourneywithivf . Here are 4 pics of me that are meaningful for me- outside of our #infertility. “Yoga is the journey of the self, by the self, to the self” I started by yoga practice in 2014. It provided me so much strength in stillness. I had always been accustomed to high energy, dynamics exercise- but yoga challenged me in a way I had not experienced. The mental disciple that it took for me to stay with a pose was something I could carry off the mat. In 2015, I was blessed stumble into a yoga retreat with @jocelynsolomonyoga and @lauraconleycoaching . They are now two of my most favorite people. “Doctoring” To be honest, I didn’t always know that I wanted to be doctor: I was told at a very young age that that was what I was going to do (typical #indianmom expectations), but I am so grateful I found my love in emergency medicine. What I love about my job is the simple human interaction- In a busy ER, it is hard to slow down between critically ill patients but sometimes, even just an uninterrupted 5minutes can feel like so much more to a family in need. It sounds, cliche, but it’s the truth. “Dance like no one is watching.” I know it may not seem like a typical “impactful/influential” moment but for my friends and family who know me, they know this was a huge accomplishment! I had never danced solo before (and when I had danced at my sister’s wedding in a group- my mom said, “you look like you’re exercising.” HOW RUDE!) As I walked up to dance- I remember feeling my heart racing and I kept reminding myself not to trip. But as you can see in this pic (with my sister) I was so happy dancing- I got lost in the music and just the whole experience. Im pretty sure my sister and I are laughing about how we missed a step :) LOVING My most honest critic and loudest cheerleader. I am constantly learning from him everyday- his ability to always, ALWAYS find the silver lining helps me put life in perspective. - @preysmd on Instagram

Read my tips to make these moves effective🤍 Repeat this circuit 3-5X . - 1️⃣ Donkey Pulses: Keep your core engaged so that you only use your glute muscles, and not your low back muscles, to lift your leg. Do a pulsing motion where you are focusing on squeezing your glute muscles to lift your leg and release it - it’s not a lifting and lowering movement. Think about lifting your leg higher and higher with each rep as you contract your glute muscles. 25 REPS EACH SIDE. 2️⃣ Prone Froggy Lifts: Rest your forehead on your hands so that your neck is straight and supported. Bring your knees wide and touch your heels together to make a triangle with your legs. Lift your legs by squeezing your glutes and SLOWLY lower them. You build strength as you lower. 50 REPS. 3️⃣ Glute V Raises: Keep your forehead rested on your hands, bring your legs wide with your legs straight, and point your toes. Lift your legs by squeezing your glutes and SLOWLY lower them back down. 50 REPS. 4️⃣ 1/4 rep to 1 full rep Single Leg Bridges: Push through your heel, focus on the glute contraction to lift your hips, get your body in a straight line from your shoulders to your hips to your knee at the top. These photos are all credited to incredible @olivianachle she is the photographer of my book pictures. In 2018 I did my teacher training with @blissology and @olivianachle was the retreat photographer. Many of us did a separate shot with her. I remember for my shot we drove on a scooter through the rice fields to this beach to take these shots. No plans just flow with the waves surrounding us. I remember a Balinese man walking and sitting down on the beach. He took his hat off watching as Olivia and I took photos. At one point my swimsuit got whipped away in the waves Olivia was running after it, we were both laughing and the Balinese man too. It was a beautiful reminder of all in acceptance and love and being human in a moment. When I wrote my book @olivianachle photos were a gift to have, as they captured me... a girl barefoot, footloose and fancy free. It was a small representation of my journey back to self love at a very difficult time in my life due to personal circumstances and traumas... For one reason it was the first time I went back to Bali after being raped there in 2009. Here is an extract from my book I want to share. When I first started YTT in 2011 one of the first things I remember my teacher saying was if you can’t change your situation, change your perspective and that is advice I return to over and over again. If you aren’t willing to chose to change your situation or you are unable to because it’s beyond your reach, you owe it to yourself to change the way you are looking at it and accept it. The mind is so powerful and so creative that you really can change your life by changing the thoughts you bring in. The hardest part is getting quiet enough to listen to your Self. Then replace the thoughts that aren’t healthy with positive and healthy ones that will get you where you want to be. We let so much noise in, it only becomes more and more challenging to tune in but the tools are there. Remember the things you watch, listen to and read are YOUR choice. Uttanasana , standing forward fold, is under-rated. It is fantastic if practiced regularly, and held for a few breaths to allow the hamstrings to release. . . It is an intense stretch so the first one should have a bend in the knee and then go from there. . . Uttanasana helps open hips, lengthen hamstrings and calves, and helps keep spine strong and flexible. . . Uttanasana also eases anxiety, tension stress and fatigue. When we pause and observe the CRAP that ignites our anxiety or frustration or self doubt, etc. we can agree that much of these interactions or inputs are self imposed. Do you seek out and find the people that frustrate you on social media? Do you watch the clips of irritating news content? Do you enable people’s extreme fears and projections? There is a fine line. The fanning of these flames will create a slow burn from the inside out. You are selecting the inputs. If you are NOT selecting the inputs, somebody else is. Read that again. We all do yoga for a reason... ⠀ In my opinion, what’s great about yoga is that it’s about what YOU want to get out of it and nothing else! 𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗣 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝗴𝗮 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗢𝗡! ⠀ 🚨 𝗡𝗲𝘄𝘀𝗳𝗹𝗮𝘀𝗵: you don’t have to look like that perfect model sitting next to you. You don’t have to wear the tight pants. You don’t have to know how to do each pose. Heck, you don’t even need to know how to do anything. It’s YOUR hour, YOUR escape, so DO YOU as I always say. ⠀ One of the reasons I love my local yoga studio @realhotyoganj is that there is no judgement during classes. If I want to do sit-ups while people are stretching or if I want to rock out to an awesome song that’s playing in the studio, I can do it. The culture here is incredibly welcoming and non-judgmental. Staying in the vein of “no judgement,” eat whatever the hell you want to before or after class: I’m only here to give suggestions that my clients and I have benefitted from. I happen to LOVE the heat, and the reason why my body handles it so well is because of these tips that help me through each amazing class taught by @austinkapyoga @b_wellness @bree_burns @namelste @tonewithash and @al_ex_andraa: ⠀ 💧𝗗𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 first thing in the morning. ⠀ 🥒Eat greens like 𝗰𝘂𝗰𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗰𝗵, 𝗸𝗮𝗹𝗲, 𝗦𝘄𝗶𝘀𝘀 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱, 𝗯𝗼𝗸 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝘆, & 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘆 to give your body extra hydration. ⠀ 🥥Drink some all-natural, no-sugar-added @harmlessharvest coconut water right before class. ⠀ 🍽Eat a meal consisting of 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗶𝗻, 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘅 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗯𝘀, & 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗳𝗮𝘁 a couple hours before class to fuel you. Some of my faves are: 🔸@anitasyogurt with berries, ground flaxseed, walnuts, & cinnamon 🔸natural nut butter on @mikeysenglishmuffins topped with berries and ground chia 🔸canned wild salmon mixed with mustard spread over veggies or a salad and sweet potato or quinoa ⠀ 🍉After class 𝗗𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗞, 𝗗𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗞, 𝗗𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗞. Le bien- être : État agréable résultant de la satisfaction des besoins du corps et du calme de lesprit. (Larousse) Depuis quatre ans j’apprends, je me dépasse. Je fais ce qu’il me plait, je tente, j’expérimente, je m’écoute. Je me trompe parfois, mais j’avance. Je ne suis pas toujours en accord avec mon corps et mon esprit. Ce sont des périodes pour moi très difficiles. Mais ce sont des phases que j’apprends petit à petit à accepter. Je suis beaucoup (et de plus en plus) mon instinct qui ne me trompe finalement, que très rarement. C’est dur de s’écouter, de se faire confiance, mais on y prend goût finalement. J’ai la foi de devenir un jour, une personne meilleure, plus calme, plus sage et plus équilibrée dans mon âme et mon esprit.
