Are you ready for the lions gate portal 8/8?! ...ppl are going on so many emotional roller coasters 🎢 I dipped into despair and disgust by the evening of the Beirut bombing...coupled with reading post about someone’s father recount the horrors the Native Children faced in Catholic indoctrination schools wiping away their culture and traumatizing the youth including rape by both the nuns and the priests and the children born of those rapes being thrown into furnaces to cover the abuses...my God Goddess I asked my self what is wrong with people ...with religion...with govt...it was the first time in a long time the darkness pooled around my heart and over took me for a few hours...I had a hard time seeing the bright side of anything...I woke up the next morning and went down to the ocean to do wimhof meditation and Kirtan Kriya and dipped in the cleansing sacred cool waters of the ocean and found my center again easily. To me the battle is energy ...high vibe happiness hope and gratitude vs depression, despair, anger, hopelessness. ✨Congruency✨ * * I sometime wonder how I am perceived from outside, to compared to how I see myself. Not that I care that much, but i think we all have desire to peek into the perception of others about ourselves from time to time. I know I do. * * It is a continuous work to be authentic in the world where we are constantly bombarded with subtle & not so subtle inputs of how we are ‘supposed’ to show up based on various boxes the society checks off for us. It’s so easy to tell folks to be ‘authentic’ and ‘stand in their power’; but in reality, to do so means we are constantly pushing against the centuries old accumulation of weight of conditioning and oppressions, especially if you are a being of color, differently-abled, queer, and/or experience other forms of marginalization. It’s not so simple to feel simply authentic in our own skin; it comes with a price of continuous churning of something - and I was born without a choice but to be constantly churning (thanks Universe🤯) * * Today, I got tested for Covid at a local urgent care (no, I am not sick - don’t worry). As I nervously wait to have a long swab up my nose, a medical tech person comes in to do a basic check in. * “Hello, I hear you are here for Covid test?” “Yes.” “Any symptoms?” “No, I am feeling fine.” “What’s the reason for getting Covid testing?” “Uh, I have to go and teach a group of people in-person, so they want me to get tested.” “Going to teach?” “Yes, for a few days.” “Meditation or something?” “... yeah that’s a part of it, yep.” * * Not sure what prompted him to say what he did (I mean, I was in my 8:30am before coffee attire, not a proper priestess gear, lol)- but I felt somehow getting a bit more congruent; how I spend my time cultivating my inner world can somehow come through in these moments- and this actually doesn’t mean much in a grand scheme of things, yet this also made me feel seen by a stranger in a way I haven’t experienced before. * * It felt really good. Five months of trying to balance family and teaching in a radically different, new world—I’d neglected to feed my own soul and care for my own sidelined, sensitive heart. I know what I am about to say, and still, I forget. As my teacher @johnvosler often reminds his students, “We forget because we have to—to remember.” And it couldn’t be truer. We can only welcome and offer to others all of our own beautiful being to the extent we welcome ourselves. We must tend to our inner world to extend a welcome to our outer world. This time in which we find ourselves has become a marathon; it is not a sprint. And we can’t afford to have any of us drop out of this race. Think about what it looks like to nourish and reconnect to your soul and to make room in your heart for the parts of you that are tired, weary and worn. Think about what you might need to love your own heart so that it might be open to an other – a stranger, a friend, a neighbor – your partner and family. That reference Ruth made, when I was a girl, to feeding angels comes from Genesis, Chapter 18 in which Abraham and Sarah meet three strangers outside their tent. Abraham says to them: “Let a little water be brought, and then you may all wash your feet and rest under this tree. Let me get you something to eat, so you can be refreshed and then go on your way…” And he brings them food and drink and they rest a while. Only later does he learn that they are divine messengers. How are we called, friends, to welcome the “stranger” — as we at times become estranged from our own soul? I used to wish for the world to stop — you know for a day or two — just so I could catch up. Then COVID hit and the world shut down for about 6 months. I still don’t feel “caught up.” Probably because this pandemic showed me that having the time is not the same as having the emotional capacity. But as I watch this one grow, I’m so proud of how she honors herself. She doesn’t hesitate to say NO and is not one to linger on the phone when it doesn’t suit her. She’s honest when she doesn’t like something and (often to my annoyance) is always pushing for a better deal lol. Update 27 May (Day 1,516) Nazanin’s lawyer went today to the Prosecutors Office as requested for a decision on Nazanin’s clemency. He was required to wait for a few hours. Eventually he was told that there was no news for him, but someone would call the family to update on the decision. No one from the Prosecutors Office has called Nazanin or her family today. Nazanin is required to call the Prosecutors Office every Saturday, so we hope to get an update then if no call comes in the meantime. We don’t need to tell you just how hard working honeybees are either. But we would feel a sting of regret if we didn’t give you some of the numbers from the bees perspective. 150,000 bees live and die between the middle of May to mid August to continue the life of the colony as a whole. A honeybee guard bee can sting other insects multiple times, but the stinger, because it is barbed gets stuck in humans’ skin and will result in the death of the bee. A hive at peak capacity can be anywhere from 80-90,000 bees and the queen lays up to 2,500 eggs a day or the equivalent of her body weight! A single cell in the hive is visited at least 1,000 a day by a worker or nurse bee. Most hives die through disease and deformities caused by varroa mites. Which if it’s size were comparative to humans it would be a rock about the size of a dinner plate on your gut. A single bee will only produce 1/12th a teaspoon on honey in her entire lifespan. 4 million flowers are made to make 22 lbs of honey or 125,000 flowers for one jar of our medium honey. (Which is $12 in our store!) A bee flaps its wings 11,400 beats per minute and the collective distance would be the same as circumnavigating the globe for a single pound of honey. Each hive will produce anywhere from 40-150lbs of surplus honey (which is for us!) so that’s a lot of world traveling! Put another way that’s equal to flying the distance of the earth to the moon every day to find food! Foragers will fly up to 6 miles from the hive to forage on a flower. But usually more like 2 miles. Honeybees more often than not die while out flying and foraging and are either too exhausted or damaged from flight to make it back home. Honeybees must consume 17-20lbs of honey to produce a single pound of comb. Bees maintain temperature of their nest from 92-93 degrees despite outside temperatures that can range from 100 to -40. Honeybees pull nectar out of the combs and fan the nectar in order to get the water consistency to a perfect 18% All of this is not possible without respect, honorable husbandry and honest to goodness hard work. Abi’20 🌸 Vor einfach 13 Jahren bin ich in die erste Klasse gekommen. Also war ich über mein halbes Leben in der Schule, die Struktur in den Alltag gebracht hat. Auf einmal ist man aber auf sich alleine gestellt, wird voll ins kalte Wasser geschmissen und muss ohne Vorwissen in der großen weiten Welt zurechtkommen. Klingt voll dramatisch irgendwie haha. Nach einer schlaflosen Nacht mit knapp 4 Stunden schlaf geht’s heute zur Kinderferienfreizeit. Mal sehen ob ich halb einschlafe oder durch die aufgeweckten Kids fit bleibe🤓 Habt ihr Tipps für einen guten Schlaf? Bzw wie man gut einschlafen kann?
