So here it is, the M4A3E8 Sherman. Or, if you want to be really technical, we can call it an M4A3(76)W HVSS GMC. Its been nearly five years since I last built an E8, and the design has changed a bunch. This version is smaller, more detailed and I believe ultimately considerably more accurate. Im particularly proud of the turret shape and engineering, I think it captures the look of a late-war T23 turret nicely. But let me know what you think! I always appreciate the feedback. Here’s just a fun scene I put together, depicting that mission on Zeffo. Funny story, I completed that at-st in only two days. Once I started everything just kept coming together until I finished. I’m more surprised than anything, but to be honest it isn’t perfect. Regardless what you call it, its an exceptionally difficult vehicle to capture in LEGO. Ive done my best here, building upon some of the techniques I employed to build my first cast hull E8, back in 2016. Like any model, it could be improved or changed in any number of ways, but Im proud of the techniques employed to create the signature gentle curve of the cast hull, as well as the details involved in both the front and rear of the hull. -| Forgotten Battlefield | Manchuria 1945 |- - This scene depicts a destroyed Soviet T-34/85, with a dead Japanese soldier close by, deep in the Manchurian jungle. - The Manchuria Campaign, or the Soviet Invasion of Manchuria, was the last major operation carried out by Soviet forces during WW2. This operation was carried out on August 9th 1945 by more than 1.2 million Soviet troops, supported by over 5,500 tanks, nearly 30,000 artillery pieces, 3,700 aircraft, and a further 16,000 Mongolian troops. This operation was to be executed in the usual pincer movement, with large amounts of forces on opposite sides of Northern Japanese-held Mongolia, with another strong spearhead driving through the centre. All pincers were focused on the three cities of Tė Tė Cåp Nhī, Cãp Nhī Taī, and Tru’ò’ng Xuan, and from there, the Soviet forces would spread throughout the southern portion of country and jungle. facing them was a far weaker Japanese army, composing of a mere 700,000 troops, nearly all of which were both poorly equipped and trained. They were also supported by 1,200 tanks, although all of them were the feeble Ha-Go and Chi-Ha light tanks, which could do nothing against the hordes of Soviet T-34/85s. These forces, known as the Kwangtung Army, had been weakened throughout the war. The best divisions had been taken away to be sent to the frontlines against the American island-hopping campaign in the Pacific, while the Kwangtung army was slowly replaced with lesser trained troops. The Soviet Generals were expecting heavy resistance from the opposing Japanese forces, but were met with mettle opposition from most Japanese divisions. The Japanese forces soon fell into despair, with many being killed and captured. This operation along with the two atomic bombs on August 6th and 9th, spelled the disastrous end for Japan in the Second World War. With substantial civilian loses, many of their home islands captured, and they’re territory in China and Manchuria rapidly falling, the Japanese agreed to a surrender in mid-August, signing the treaty on September 2nd, 1945, ending WW2. - @ship_raider on Instagram
