Lake Arrowhead. Was. Amazing!! ❄️ 🏂 🌲 We had the most wonderful weekend up in the trees and away from it all. Londyn spent all day in snowboard school on Saturday and according to her instructor “She was such a trooper and never gave up”. Her report card showed that she mastered each skill for her level! Way to go Londyn! 🏂 ⭐️ We stayed at the cutest little cabin, built in 1927 - almost 100 years old! About 2 years ago, I started researching about the topic of organ donation in preparation for the short film we later eventually shot “The Decision”. On the process I started following on Instagram the lives of some amazing kids who have been waiting for a life-saving organ transplant so patiently and bravely. Ive been constantly surprised by the resilience and inner strength of their parents, having to deal with this level of uncertainty when one of the outcomes could be so devastating. Not being able to do anything but hoping and waiting, while your childs time is slowly running out. I followed many stories of these brave kids, which you can find on the description of our film (link in Bio). A couple of weeks ago I read that one of these girls, Thalia, was entering the priority list since her condition was rapidly deteriorating. I have exchanged words of support with her mom and honestly had so much faith that this happy, sweet 6 year-old girl who liked princesses and always had a smile on her photos will make it. But she didnt and passed away a couple of days ago. Her new heart didnt arrive on time and she slowly faded out of this world way to early. I dont cry often, and never did for someone I havent met, but the pain and feeling of unfairness that flooded me when I read her last post is hard to describe. I cant stop thinking she should have had a better chance. Organ donation is a difficult topic, thinking about our own death or our loved ones, is not pleasant. But it is important. If you havent done so yet, please, take some time to think about organ donation and talk to your friends and family about it.
