The Merlion in Singapore #Singapore is quite simply amazing. I had high expectations going in and the place completely blew my mind. Im one of those people that loves everywhere they go, but even I have to admit some are a little better than the others. I wouldnt want to live here (I prefer countries with no rules) but boy do I love visiting. The #Merlion is Singapore’s most famous statue and it is found in the #MarinaBay area where all of the #architecture is over the top. You can take funny photos with it like we did. The Province of #NovaScotia recently announced that masks will become mandatory in most indoor public places starting today, July 31st. This means masks will be required when dining in our restaurant (except of course, when people are eating or drinking) and while shopping in our Company Store. I told my mom in college I went to see a counselor. She said what, why? I explained to her that I needed to talk to someone about my emotions. At the time I was dating someone which was “unacceptable” and it was hard. She didn’t understand. Why would I go talk to a complete stranger about my feelings? They’ll just tell me it’s all my parents fault and try to convince me something’s wrong with me. I’m glad I went to that counselor and I’m fortunate to have had the education and the support of friends around me to help me through lifes challenges. Some people are not so lucky. It’s NOT normal to feel depressed for weeks on end. It’s OK to seek help for those feelings of depression or extreme anxiety that you feel. It doesn’t make you weak. It doesn’t mean something is terribly wrong with you. Catch and Kill, 2020 The title is borrowed from Ronan Farrows book from 2019 where he recounts the challenges he faced chasing the stories of Harvey Weinsteins decades of alleged rape, sexual assault, and sexual abuse of women and the case against him. I was listening to the podcast based on the book while starting this piece back in February and when I learned about that the title referred to the practice of catch and kill, in which disreputable media companies purchase stories so that they can bury them I knew I wanted to base the work around it. This was before the pandemic became a daily lived reality and as the world adjusted, the sculptures themselves began to embody those changes too, taking on objects, feelings, and postures of a society in flux. Rolling headlines become apparel, gloves and shields entered. Tears came because all is freakin crazy right now!! VOTE 😤 - @futuristiclesbian on Instagram

Happy #gaypride to all. Questa notte sono stato vittima di una aggressione a sfondo omofobico. Circa una decina di ragazzi mi ha fermato con la scusa di chiedermi una sigaretta e poi mi hanno aggredito con tanto di appellativo ricorrente frocio. Purtroppo nemmeno il giorno del gaypride siamo liberi di essere ciò che siamo. Ma sappiano tutti coloro che pensano di metterci a tacere che si sbagliano se credono che questo basti per farmi cambiare idea sul mio modo di vivere, di essere e di comportarmi. Sono sempre stato rispettoso ed equo, ma non mi sono mai tirato indietro davanti a delle ingiustizie (che riguardassero me, qualcuno vicino a me o qualcuno di lontano), non inizierò a farlo certo ora. Ho tutta lintenzione di andare in fondo a questa situazione. Perché combattere per i propri diritti signifca anche tirare fuori gli attributi ed esporsi. Non ho intenzione di cambiare nulla, ma se tutti noi facessimo la nostra parte per rendere questo mondo un posto migliore, non ci sarebbe bisogno di filantropi, attivisti ed eroi.
