“Atatürkün hayatındaki en zorlu gün 26 Ağustos 1922dir. Çünkü bu tarih Türklerin Anadoludaki son bağımsız günü olabilirdi. Atatürk de bunun bilincindeydi. Devlet 1911den beri tam 11 yıldır savaştadır. Tükenmek üzeredir. Artık tek atımlık barutu kalmıştır. Atatürk 1921de Sakarya Savaşını kazandı fakat ordunun önemli bir kısmı firar etti. Üstelik mevcut subayların çoğu şehit oldu. Yunan ordusu ise Ankara önlerinden çekilip Afyon-Eskişehir eksenine İngiliz destekli muazzam bir savunma hattı kurmuştu. Atatürkün planı ters cepheydi. Taarruzdan bir gece önce ordunun neredeyse tamamı mevzileri terk ederek yer değiştirecekti. Bu durum fark edilirse koca ordu hareketli halde yakalanır ve bir gecede imha olabilirdi. Ya büyük bir bozgun ya da büyük bir zafer olacaktı. Bu planı sadece üç Mustafa biliyordu: Mustafa Kemal, Mustafa İsmet, Mustafa Fevzi... Taarruzdan bir gece önce, 25 Ağustos günü, hava karardıktan sonra ordu harekete geçti. Cepheyi terk ederek, Şuhut dağları arasından, bir patika vasıtasıyla Yunan hattının güneyine sızdı. Kimse fark etmedi. Tan ağarmaya başladığında İsmet Paşa bombardımanı başlatacaktı. Fakat hiç hesapta olmayan bir şey oldu. Etrafı sis bastı. Toplar kör olmuştu. Bu şekilde bombardıman başlamazdı. Herkes şaşkındı. Mustafa Kemal tepedeki karargahından çıktı. Canı çok sıkılmıştı. Oldukça stresli görünüyordu. Vakit akıp gidiyordu. Yalnız başına kayaların arasına girdi. Kayalıktan çıkıp yürüdüğü esnada ekipten biri makinesini aldı ve o tarihi anı fotoğrafladı. Havanın iyice aydınlanmaya başladığı saniyelerde sis bir anda dağılmaya başladı. Düşman mevzileri görünür hale geliyordu. Vakti gelmişti, İsmet Paşaya talimat verildi. 26 Ağustos 1922 günü, saat 05:30da Türk topları sessizliği bıçak gibi yırttı. Norman Kirby understood the hardships of war as he grew up in British Columbia listening to war stories from his grandfather, a Boer War and FWW veteran. Undeterred by the cruel realities of war, he stepped up and answered the call of duty and enlisted, at the age of 17, when the #SWW broke out. During training, he became adept at using the Bren light machine gun and the Projector, Infantry, Anti Tank (PIAT). In May 1944, he was shipped off to the UK and assigned to the North Shore (New Brunswick) Infantry Regiment – who needed a qualified Bren gunner. On 6 June 1944, his war began as he stormed Juno Beach with his regiment on D-Day. Following the treacherous landing of D-Day, Kirby continued fighting with the regiment throughout Normandy as they worked tirelessly to recapture French ports along the channel and silence the German cross-channel guns. On February 26, during the Battle of the Rhineland, the regiment helped seize the town of Keppeln, where Kirby and another soldier broke into a German garrison and captured the enemy commander. Kirby was discharged in September 1945 and returned home to North Vancouver at the age of 19. He wasn’t old enough to vote or have a beer with his father, but he also wasn’t the same youngster that left for war. For his distinguished military career and service to Canada, Sergeant Norman Kirby received many plaudits and at least five medals. In 2020, he was awarded France’s highest decoration, la Légion dhonneur. Today, he lives a peaceful life in Lions Bay, BC with his wife Victoria. They have been married for 50 years and devote themselves to remembrance. “It is so gratifying to see how appreciative people are at these commemorative ceremonies. It makes it all worthwhile. Today 106 years ago the First World War began when the Austro-Hungarian Empire declared war on Serbia by telegram, exactly 1 month after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. • After the Germans put pressure on the Austro-Hungarians to try to keep peace with the Russians, the Germans were forced to declare war on Serbia, Russia and eventually France because of the existing Franco-Russian pact of 1894 that insured that the French and Russians would help one another when they would go to war against Germany. • In the following month around 18 million European men would be mobilised and send to the front and at the end of August already more than a million men would be dead or wounded. He invented the first alternating current (AC) motor and developed AC generation and transmission technology. GUCCIO GUCCI: When the name Gucci comes to mind, most fashionphiles conjure the image of Alessandro Michele has dreamed up in the last few years.But long before marquee designers were running the show at Gucci, the fashion house got its start as a leather shop. Born in 1881, Guccio was the son of an Italian leather maker. Guccio was not too keen on taking the same occupational route as his father, so he travelled to London and Paris, where he worked as a waiter, dishwasher and concierge. In London, he worked at the prestigious Savoy Hotel as a lift attendant, and it was during this time that he took note of the beautiful luggage styles that he saw.On his return to Florence , he did follow in his father’s footsteps. The first Gucci shop was founded in Florence in 1921, In the beginning, Gucci’s main business was making saddles and other accessories for horseback riders and the red and green woven stripe , inspired by saddle details. in general many of his designs were inspired by horseracing, and his company quickly became known for its incredible level of craftsmanship.Leather was hard to come by in the mid-1930s, because of sanctions against Italy, so Gucci began experimenting with alternative textiles. This led to the very first signature Gucci print: small interconnected diamonds in dark brown, woven into a tan hemp fabric. In 1932 Guccio created the first loafer shoe with a gilded snaffle, as well as a wonderful selection of luggage ties, shoes and the famous handbags with a bamboo handle was born under similar circumstances in 1947; Gucci artisans were scrambling to find materials towards the end of World War II and discovered that they could use Japanese bamboo to craft unique bag handles . Guccio enlisted his three sons Aldo, Vasco, and Rodolfo to join the business in 1938. The year 1953 is famous for two reasons: the death of Guccio Gucci, and the opening of the first Gucci store overseas. Boutiques started to spring up everywhere, and the glamorous ‘GG’ symbol that is still used today, was created in the 1960s. FISAC EN EMIRATOS ÁRABES UNIDOS Miguel Fisac inicia a partir de 1970 una serie de contactos con los Emiratos Árabes Unidos que están planteando construcciones y ordenaciones urbanas. En La Fundación Fisac un conjunto de documentos muy diversos dan cuenta de estos contactos: tarjetas de personas con las que contacta, correspondencia, resguardos del hotel o de los menús de algunas celebraciones que de manera dispersa van dejando testimonio de su interés por construir en esta zona. En sus relaciones con los Emiratos Árabes trata de realizar proyectos de diferente entidad. La documentación conservada es parcial con croquis, correspondencia y algunos dibujos más elaborados. Su proyecto para un hotel en Abu Dhabi en 1976, su presencia como jurado en el concurso de ordenación de la isla de Similiyat en 1981 con uno de sus cuadernos de viaje son los primeros proyectos conocidos en UAE. En 1982 se presenta al concurso de la gran sala de conferencias y ese mismo año elabora un proyecto para un centro comercial y residencial con la torre torsionada como elemento central. Un proyecto del que se conservan diferentes perspectivas y una maqueta. Y finalmente, un proyecto para un edificio de usos comercial y residencial en 1984. Proyectos con documentación parcial que dan cuenta de la intensa actividad de Miguel y su intención de conjugar las características de una arquitectura del lugar con las técnicas modernas que conoce. Many Americans still do not know about Operation Ajax: a covert regime-change operation that changed the course of history in Iran and the world. On August 19th, 1953 the American and British Intelligence led a coup d’etat that overthrew Iran’s democratically elected prime minister Dr. Mohammad Mossadegh. Dr. Mossadegh nationalized Irans oil industry, which had for years been fully controlled by the Anglo-Persian Oil Company - currently known as the British Petroleum - and was only a source of little revenue for the country. In response, agents, mobs, and mercenaries were paid and trained by the CIA to overthrow Mossadeghs government. Amidst nationwide protests, Mohammad Reza Shah, was re-installed by the USA as the Shah and ruler of Iran. The growing despair and discontent around the country culminated in a massive uprising that toppled the Shahs regime in 1979. These events stifled hopes for democracy in Iran and embittered Iran-US relations into the current day in the 21st century. The 1953 coup in Iran was the first time the CIA orchestrated the overthrow of a democratically elected government. The success of this operation encouraged the USA to carry out similar operations all across Latin America. The USA finally acknowledged its role in the coup in August 2013, with further documents released as late as March 2018. The current administration in the USA did not appear out of nowhere. It was the direct result of decades of injustice and the American abuse of power at all levels. What we witness now in the USA is but a glimpse at the horror and suffering that this countrys imperialist ethos has caused for the rest of the world. At this moment in history, it is crucial for Americans of all political ideologies to break free from the systems that propagate the narratives of superiority. Now more than ever our struggles are intertwined. گوچو گوچی : Guccio Gucci وقتی اسم گوچی به زبان می آید برای همه تصویر السندرو میکله (Alessandro Michele) که در سال های اخیر طراح گوچی است تداعی می شود ولی باید اشاره کرد که قبل از همه ی طراحانی که برای این مارک طراحی کردند گوچی از یک مغازه ی چرم فروشی آغاز شد. گوچی در سال۱۸۸۱ در فلورانس متولد شد ٫ پدرش دباغ بود اما او راه پدرش را ادامه نداد .پس به لندن و پاریس مهاجرت کرد و به گارسونی ٫ ظرف شویی و دربانی مشغول شد. در لندن در هتل لوکس ساووی دربان آسانسور بود و به شدت جذب چمدان های زیبای مشتریان شد. پس به فلورانس برگشت و تصمیم به ادامه ی راه پدرش را گرفت .در سال ۱۹۲۱ اولین مغازه ی خود را‌ در فلورانس باز کرد ٫ در ابتدا تجارت او ساخت زین اسب و دیگر وسایل اسب سواری بود اما با افزایش استفاده از اتومبیل تقاضا کمتر شد . در سال ۱۹۳۰ در ایتالیا به علت تحریم های پس از جنگ ٫ چرم به سختی یافت می شد بنابراین مجبور به استفاده از کتان و کنف شد.در سال ۱۹۳۲ اولین کفش با سگک نعل اسب طلایی و ست های چمدان و کیف با دستگیره ی گیاه بامبو که از ژاپنی ها یاد گرفته بود ٫ با الهام از فرم زین اسب را عرضه کرد.پس از مرگ گوچی در سال۱۹۵۳ سه پسرش کار را در دست گرفتند تا جایی که در همان سال‌اولین مغازه ی Gucci در نیویورک افتتاح شد و در سال های بعد در دیگر اقصی نقاط جهان . در دهه ی پنجاه نوار قرمز ‌و سبز الهام گرفته از زین اسب و در سال ۱۹۶۰علامت «GG» الهام گرفته از نام گوچو گوچی است به عنوان مشخصه های اصلی برند انتخاب شدند .در سال های بعد به علت اختلافات بین برادران و مشکلات مالی بوتیک های گوچی بسته شد اما در سال ۱۹۸۰ دوباره شروع به فعالیت کردند و در سال ۱۹۸۷ شرکت Investcorp تمام سهم گوچی را خریداری کرد .در سال‌های بعد داین ملو (Dawn Mello )سعی در باز سازی و رونق دوباره ی گوچی کرد. - @__parmiss.pourmand__ on Instagram

Dick Winters , a native of Ephrata in Lancaster County, was the commander of Easy Company, 2 nd Battalion, 506 th Parachute Infantry Regiment, part of the 101 st Airborne Division, in World War II. . His story became famous when it was told in the book and miniseries called Band of Brothers. . Winters parachuted into Normandy on D-Day, June 6, 1944. . According to history.com, In the early hours of June 6, 1944, he and other members of his company parachuted into Normandy, where later that day hundreds of thousands of Allied troops would land during the D-Day invasion. With their commander missing in action-he had been shot down by German anti-aircraft fire--Winters assumed control of Easy Company. Under his guidance, the troops destroyed a German artillery battery near Utah Beach in a battle known as the Brecourt Manor Assault. His actions earned him a Distinguished Service Cross and promotion to captain. . Led by Winters, Easy Company went on to take part in the Battle of the Bulge, the liberation of the Dachau death camp and the occupation of Hitlers Alpine retreat, the Eagles Nest. . The book Band of Brothers by Stephen Ambrose followed Easy Companys journey from basic training. A miniseries based on the book was aired by HBO in 2001. . In 2006 Winters wrote his own book called Beyond Band of Brothers: The War Memories of Major Dick Winters. . Winters died Jan. 2, 2011. His personal belongings are part of the collection at the Hershey-Derry Twp. Historical Society where they are displayed in a re-creation of his home office. . Today in history: September 22, 1861 - Flag Officer William Wister McKean, USN assumed command of the Gulf Blockading Squadron in the Gulf of Mexico. In January 1862, the Squadron was split with McKean taking command of the East Gulf Blockading Squadron. He was released from active duty in June 1862. Born in Pennsylvania in 1800, McKean was appointed Midshipman in the United State Navy in 1814. His first cousin was Confederate Admiral Franklin Buchanan. Extraordinary warriors X: the Eagle of the Eastern front ➡️ Picture of Oberst (Colonel) Hans-Ulrich Rudel, the most decorated German serviceman of WW2 as sole recipient of the Knight’s Cross with Golden Oak Leaves, Swords and Diamonds. Aboard the Ju 87 “Stuka”, Rudel destroyed 519 enemy tanks, 150 artillery guns and even a battleship and a cruiser sunk, along with 70 landing craft and 800 other vehicles. In addition, he achieved 51 aerial victories in other aircraft. He flew 2,530 ground-attack missions, was wounded five times and got his leg amputated in February 1945. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Third child of a Lutheran minister, Rudel joined the Hitlerjugen in 1933 and the Luftwaffe in 1936, where he began his military career as an air reconnaissance pilot, although his legend as Stuka pilot began after the German attack on the Soviet Union in June 1941. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ On 8 May 1945 (VE Day), Rudel fled west from an airfield near Prague, landing in US controlled territory, where he surrendered. Later, he emigrated to Argentina, from where he helped Nazi fugitives to escape from Europe, and sheltered Josef Mengele, the former SS doctor at Auschwitz. In this regard, Rudel never tried to clean his image, declaring himself a devout National Socialist to the end of his days. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ According to testimonies from his Tyrol neighbors, Rudel, fearing to fall into Soviet hands after surrender, said that he told the Americans he would offer Stalin his help in developing the best aviation ground attack force of the world if they turn him over. Today 106 years ago Archduke Franz Ferdinand, cousin of Kaiser Franz Joseph of Austria-Hungary, was assassinated by the Serbian Nationalist Gavrilo Princip in Sarajevo on the 28th of June 1914 during a visit to the city. • Born in Serbia, Gavrilo Princip was part of the Black hand organisation who wanted independence from the Austro-Hungarian Empire and decided with a few other members of the organisation to assassinate the Monarch. • The first attempts to kill the Archduke failed when they threw bombs at his car but missed and injured some officers which he later visited in the hospital. When he got out of the hospital his driver took a wrong turn and drove past Gavrilo Princip who just ordered a sandwich.
