The new glam life looks a bit different so Ive slowly eased my way back. Im so grateful to be able to do what I love and to have the best clients in world!! The type of clients who cares about you as a person. The kind of clients who sent me cards while in quarantine, the clients who still paid for services even though their event was cancelled. The clients who sent me a text saying check your venmo, I just sent you something. Words cannot explain how I felt, because for me it wasnt so much about the money as it was the fact that they cared so much about me. It was especially heartwarming because it was completely unsolicited, just a surprise blessing overflow. To these clients I was more than just another makeup artist, I was their makeup artist. That level of loyalty is unmatched and will never be taken for granted. Thank you, thank you so much 🙏🏾. Things have been very different for most of us; however not all change is bad. Through this time, Ive learned how to properly balance my work life schedule. As many of you may know, Im a wife and a mom of 2 . Pre pandemic I was working crazy long hours on set, traveling alot monthly, racing home to still be super mom and wife. I was doing way too much without ever taking the time for self care. As simple as dedicating time to eat throughout my day was being neglected. Now Im learning how to include myself in my list of priorities. Although the pandemic has altered alot of our plans professionally, it has allowed us to press reset, to restore and renew our mind, body and soul. It has even allowed many of us to pivot and explore other things that we may not have had the time to do otherwise. It has given us the opportunity to boldly let our voices be heard as we shone a spot light on the need for change, justice and equality. If the world didnt pause, our message wouldnt have been as effective. As we move forward on our path to success, Ill continue to pray for our beauty community as we navigate our way to a brighter tomorrow. Also kept most of my brushes covered and my sanitizers out ready. Every set of brushes I used for each model were kept separated and I made sure to give myself time to sanitize my area between each of them. As I’m searching through my phone for pictures to post, I came across this photo that @loa2049makeuphairbeauty took of me last year being 8 months pregnant and still servicing weddings. 👰 I remember in this time of my life feeling really insecure about myself. I was freshly new to the Bay area while being in my 3rd trimester of pregnancy. I kept my pregnancy a “secret” from social media because of the fear of rejection from potential clients. Why? I don’t know. I felt that if they knew I was pregnant that I wouldn’t be a good fit for their wedding for some reason. Maybe they would think I would get tired? Or maybe that I would go into labor on their wedding day? Lol idk. Such a silly thought I had. I guess the real reason why I’m posting this is because I want other artists to know that, IT IS OKAY to do WHATEVER feels good to you during these times. Whether it is sharing your personal life or keeping it to your close friends and family. Just keep in mind, NO ONE CARES if you’re pregnant and working🤷🏻‍♀️. I know that now lol. My work was never less while pregnant than it had ever been and in reality I felt super blessed to have the ability to work while carrying a child. I was told many times to “sit down” and while I needed to sit down, I simply couldn’t. I didn’t want to stop working until I needed to because that’s how much I loved (& still do🥰) what I do! And boy, did I miss my brides while on my 2 month maternity leave😩. Any how, this is just social media. Do your thing and share as much or as little as you’d like. Thankful for my brides that still chose to work with me after meeting me for their preview and noticing a bump but never pushed me to talk about my pregnancy and still hired me.
