We usually post Mondays to give us a shot of hope during these trying times but weve been at a loss for words. Nothing has prepared us for whats unfolding before our eyes. We stand in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement and we are trying to understand how to be allies rather than silently supporting a system which disproportionately oppresses people of color. These are challenging times in which two opposing views can be right in that violence is not the answer while peaceful protesting has not moved the needle enough for true social change. We dont have the answers but our hearts are broken by how division is being sown around the world. We encourage empathy, love, and care and look forward to a day where celebration seems appropriate. - @globaleclipsegathering on Instagram

This is one of a series of night time images photographed by one of the Expedition 29 crew members from the International Space Station. It features Aurora Australis, seen from a point over the southeast Tasman Sea near southern New Zealand. The station was located at 46.65 degrees south latitude and 169.10 degrees east longitude. Inspired by the latest video via @curiuss_yt (if you are italian speaking followers, you should check his page) here a thread about the Van Allen Belt What is the Van Allen Belt? Van Allen radiation belt, doughnut-shaped zones of highly energetic charged particles trapped at high altitudes in the magnetic field of Earth. The zones were named for James A. Van Allen, the American physicist who discovered them in 1958, using data transmitted by the U.S. Explorer satellite. [https://www.britannica.com/science/Van-Allen-radiation-belt] Reason for its shape: Van Allen radiation belts (second image The Van Allen radiation belts contained within Earths magnetosphere. Pressure from the solar wind is responsible for the asymmetrical shape of the magnetosphere and the belts. (Encyclopædia Britannica, Inc.) Van Allen Belt are Dangerous for Astonauts? - via @disinformatico (Moon Hoax Debunked): Because these belts are not as deadly as they’re often made out to be and also because they’re belts, so you can fly around them. Russian spaceflights flew animals through them without problems. NASA also conducted sensor-laden uncrewed test flights to measure the effectiveness of the shielding of the Apollo command module. The trajectories of all the moonshots were calculated to fly around the core of these donut-shaped belts and pass rapidly through their less intense outer portions. The astronauts on the International Space Station periodically pass through parts of these belts and they don’t die. Fly-through of the International Space Station courtesy of @nasa. Although I did not film this 😶, I am sharing as I find it beautiful, terrifying and ultimately a strong perspective in this turbulent time we label 2020. The ISS is a powerful symbol. It is a place where different nations of the planet earth come together to explore the space beyond. As with everything, I’m sure there is controversy and deep politics here but in theory, this is such an incredible practice and a symbol of peace. . A Long Storm System on Saturn 🔭 • 🔶 It was one of the largest and longest lived storms ever recorded in our Solar System. First seen in late 2010, the above cloud formation in the northern hemisphere of Saturn started larger than the Earth and soon spread completely around the planet. . 🔶 The storm was tracked not only from Earth but from up close by the robotic Cassini spacecraft then orbiting Saturn. Pictured here in false colored infrared in February, orange colors indicate clouds deep in the atmosphere, while light colors highlight clouds higher up. . 🔶 After raging for over six months, the iconic storm circled the entire planet and then tried to absorb its own tail -- which surprisingly caused it to fade away. ...
