Read more ( 1 min read) Learn to Rest. It is so important to give your body the rest it deserves. I like to relate to our smartphones, which needs charging every day. Our productivity and performance is directly related to the rest that we get whether in case of physical, emotional and mental work We end up getting exhausted with all the hustle-bustle that we go through Now rest can be of different types: 1. Rest in between work 2. Daily power nap 3. A good night sleep 4. An extended weekend sleep Many people nowadays use the Pomodoro technique where they focus for sometime and then break off for a few minutes. It doesnt need to be a 25:5 session I prefer 90 mins work followed by 15 mins rest cause it allows me to go into the zone and just when I have had enough, it allows me to take 15 mins necessary break. The break needs to be stress-free. Free of phone usage. I prefer just walking inside the house as I have to be in a sitting position for quite sometime. And best is to do nothing. Yes, sometimes doing nothing is the best way to rest yourself. Have a cup of tea or coffee maybe. For the ones who still question the effectiveness, know that our mind works just like our muscles. While working out our muscles, we need to give them rest in intervals. Similarly, an afternoon power nap is the best way to deal with that huge urge of an afternoon slump. A 20 mins power nap is more than enough. With the new work from home schedule now its even possible for many of us. Thirdly, we all should try to get 7-8 hours of sleep daily. Its been two weeks since I attended the meditation class of @clairerobbie via @urbanashramyoga. Im really glad I made time for this, and that I am slowly learning how to devote 20 minutes of my time in the morning and another 20 in afternoon/evening to #meditation. Through her sessions, I have realized the value of letting thoughts come and go, which was an issue since my mind is completely wandering about. The brain is designed to do that. But there is a difference between trying to shut it down with frustration, and just observing them, acknowledging them without harsh judgment. There is #selfkindness in accepting these thoughts to flow, but there is also #selfcontrol in allowing to let them go. #acceptance and #surrender. Meditating teaches me not to act on impulse.
