Inteset is a personal exploration of my cultural background and the inner conflict I experience between identifying as both Australian and Chinese. Where I once was reluctant to embrace my Chinese background, through this collection I sought to reconciliate these opposing elements of my identity. Each garment references traditional Chinese silhouettes which are modified to look more western. To represent the juxtaposition between the conservatism of Chinese Culture and the liberalism of Western culture, the looks are adjustable to either cover or expose various sections of the body. È passato tanto tempo da queste foto ma non le avevo mai pubblicate. Il libro che vedete nell’ultima foto rientra sicuramente nella top 10 dei miei libri preferiti in assoluto. Ho avuto modo di rileggerlo in questa quarantena, e anche stavolta ho avuto modo di imparare qualcosa di nuovo. Forse certi dettagli vengono colti solo nel momento in cui abbiamo bisogno di essi. Per questo lo stesso libro riesce ad insegnarci sempre qualcosa di nuovo. Questa volta la parte sul “sapere aspettare” penso sia stata quella più illuminante, quella che ha saputo aiutarmi di più in un momento simile. “Fotografare le Emozioni” penso sia uno di quei libri che ogni artista debba tenere sul comodino, ti dà ispirazione, ti fa emozionare e ti insegna a come scattare: con il cuore. Vi invito tutti a comprarlo e leggerlo, anche perché all’interno trovate le fotografie stupende di Simone! What do both these images have in common? The first is model Shyamolie Varma looking like a goddess in a burnished gold coloured Suneet Varma breastplate from 1991/1992. The second is Zendaya earlier this year (styled by @luxurylaw), wearing an amazing moulded breastplate from Tom Ford’s SS20 collection. For a piece looking at the evolution of the bustier in the June/July 2020 issue of @bazaarindia, I explored the links between fashion, art, and their shared obsession with the female form. French sculptor Claude Lalanne made YSL’s iconic metal breastplates while British artist Allen Jones‘ fetish-heavy works were the inspiration for Issey Miyake to make his own out of moulded polyester resin. Even Suneet Varma shared that he was inspired by Sandro Boticelli’s painting the Birth of Venus for his version. But the most fun part of a conversation with Varma for the piece was his stories of who bought these gold-leaf covered bralets/potential sari blouses (he made just six and kept one for himself). As a formal designer during a global pandemic I have been feeling a serious loss. Prom and weddings were canceled, formal events, pageants postponed... I am a designer not on a huge commerce scale but more so on the artistic and creative level based on my personal inspiration and who I am dressing. I am struggling to find inspiration to design again and I am hoping I find that very soon. Having relocated to Atlanta where fashion and the “Instagram designer” seems to be everyone shopping in the same fabric stores I am looking for a fresh new outlook on my designs and aesthetic. En esta ocación hice un tapabocas con costuras a mano 😷 Ya que tenemos una situación insalubre activa por tiempo indefinido y tenemos que pasar mucho tiempo con esta protección en nuestros hermosos rostros 😂 tengo dos moldes de barbijos o tapabocas que puedo compartir con ustedes para que hagan en sus casas 😀❤ En el carrusel de fotos muestro el proceso de mi confección, los utencilios que necesitas son: • Tijeras • Molde • Tela exterior • Tela de forro • Elástico pequeño • Agujas e hilo 👵💡 Como primer paso cortar la pieza con dos capas de tela exterior y otras dos con tela de forro en partes iguales El inicio de la costura será en el centro de las piezas exterior y luego las de forro Seguidamente abrimos y unimos las piezas con costura en todo el borde de la pieza menos los espacios por donde pasará el elástico, a su vez estos huecos nos sirven para devolver la prenda a su lado derecho ☆Esta técnica de costura implementada de llama embolsado o forrado que consta de ocultar todas las costuras dentro de la prenda y el detalle importante que no debes olvidar es quitarle a todo el contorno del forro al menos 0.5mm para que no se embolse el forro hacia fuera Puedes hacerle piquetes y recortar los excedentes de la costura ☆ te ayudará mucho planchar en cada dobléz para un terminado más prolijo Cuesta un poco pero si se puede jaja hay que voltear toda la prenda con mucho cuidado, con la ayuda de un palito sin maltratar el textil Finalmente tomo medida de los elásticos y les hago un nudo dentro de la pieza ☆ como ves se me facilita meterlos dentro con un ganchito de pelo, tip sabio para las tiras ⭐ Cualquier duda o consulta me escribes al DM 😍 #7díasdeBlogger x @angelablones - @mitchellromay on Instagram
