Thinking about these three NHS heroes who lived and died protecting us. I spent a lot of time reading about them and their incredible work. What a loss for the medical community, the Muslim community and the world.โฃโฃโ โฃโ Itโs made me think of my own connection with the NHS, my siblings and parents whoโve saved lives and had their lives saved by this incredible system. I didnโt see my mama as much growing up, I knew she loved her job and I loved her coming back to tell us about all the different cases she worked on that day. No matter how tired she was (back to back night shifts and on calls in between) if a patient had complications sheโd go back in again to serve them in a heartbeat. From the quotes of these doctorsโ families and their colleagues, their insistence on working on the frontlines feels so close to home.โฃโฃโ โฃโฃโ I feel so much pride yet anger. Anger that thousands of doctors, nurses and GPs are STILL working with inadequate protection from the virus. Anger that those working closest to vulnerable groups arenโt getting tested themselves. Anger that this country keeps voting in a government that has starved the NHS of essential funds and brought it to its knees. Anger that Britain has had all the resources to fully fund and protect the NHS and its staff, house the homeless and more, but we were told it was impossible just three months ago.
