I have noticed some new faces around here, so I wanted to re-introduce myself! Hey, my name is Ali, and I am in the business of preserving love into physical memories. A few of my favorite things include ivy plants because they remind me of my nana, being super organized and having things in order, and hiking in the woods, especially when the light turns extra pretty. I have been a photographer for as long as I can remember. I studied Art at Providence College and started shooting weddings shortly after, and have since had the pleasure to be a part of hundreds of weddings. Being married with 3 little boys has made me love and cherish my job even more because every day you see how important life and love really are. I feel so lucky to photograph so much love. It is like food to my soul. My absolute favorite is when wedding clients come back to me over the years with a growing family for me to photograph. Photographing weddings and families gives me the opportunity to capture love surrounding people during their life’s biggest events. Через некоторое время он сам перезагрузит мозг и соскучится. 3) Улучшения себя. Когда человек учится, развивается, строит карьеру, бизнес или хобби (короче, живет полной жизнью) – он постоянно интересен и востребован, а когда нет – он наскучивает и обесценивается. Today marks three months since my donor surgery. And I need to take a moment to thank this man right here. He may have played a superhero on tv, but to me, there is no playing and nothing fictitious about it; this man is my real life superhero. Throughout this process, when I stumble over receiving praise for my actions, people have said “saying you would save someone’s life and actually doing it are two different things.” The point is, many talk; few do. Eme does. He did, he does, over and over again; he literally held my hands through sickness and to health. I don’t remember much from those early days, but I felt one thing as a constant- his presence by my side. I remember that on night one, he slept on a windowsill in the waiting room because I wouldn’t leave mom and he wouldn’t leave me. This would be a challenge for anyone....let alone a 6’3 one! Months later, when I switched roles from caretaker to patient, he supported me. He blessed my decision and encouraged it. He has allowed me to be soft and vulnerable time and time again, in all the ways...some ridiculous. Like when in the days following my surgery, after sleeping on the bedside recliner every night, he showered in my room because I didn’t want to be without him for even a second. He did that, knowing I would be just fine even if he did leave for a short while. But he sensed into me, as he has a way of doing. Just as his words carry a weight with me, he began every morning with the same simple sweet “good morning beautiful,” at a time when I felt most insecure laying in this hospital bed. @ikwuakor You have loved me so steadily and so deeply that at times it has taken my breath away. You have loved my mother and my family in a way that makes my heart ache. I’m grateful for you. And I’m glad I finally let you sleep when we got home. Как мы находим идеи для съемок?📷 ⠀ Из множества способов найти крутую идею, у меня лично прижился один – простой и действенный: ⠀ ▫️ Всегда сразу записывать все, что приходит в голову. Даже мимолетное и вроде нелепое. Кому-то проще делать заметки в телефоне, а я обожаю использовать блокноты. *Наверное, отдельная мотивашка не забить, а записать – это кайф от самого процесса (красивая обложка, хорошая бумага - ммм) ⠀ ▫️ А когда уже хотите раскрутить идею – садитесь и полчаса пишите любые приходящие мысли. Если не получается, то отдыхаем (желательно не в телефоне) и – снова пишем. ⠀ Вроде бы суперочевидно. Но я понимаю, что осознанно стала так делать, только потому что ее порекомендовал один авторитетный продюсер на одном из обучений. ⠀ И, конечно, еще помогает Pinterest. Особенно если задавать идею, не добавляя в запрос «фотосессия». Так проще искать именно свой путь воплощения. ⠀ Полистали карусель?⬆️ ⠀ Здесь в качестве модели выступила @kateryna_stupakova, а снимать коллегу-фотографа - это всегда немножечко вызов. Хочется найти действительно крутую концепцию. Сейчас пишу, и понимаю, что поиски «того самого образа» заняли у меня почти две недели: варианты рождались и отбрасывались один за другим… ⠀ Но вдруг наткнулась на старое фото женщины, которая развешивает белье и зажглась – то самое! ⠀ Дальше – дело техники: грамотная подготовка для реализации идеи. Отдельная радость, что сейчас крупные проекты мы организуем в команде с @empower_union – оказалось, что когда ты не одиночка, намного проще проводить необычные творческие съемки. ⠀ Наверное, как и любому фотографу, мне важно чувствовать определенную свободу в творчестве. Precious and priceless moments in life!! Shellys third birthday was the first birthday that I felt she truly understood. My entire childhood was based around taking ballet classes in red bank to the point where I got permission to leave school early (🤫) on certain days to enhance my desire and techniques as a student learning to dance ballet. This year we took shelly to see the Nutcracker live - since then she’s been obsessing over ballet. Which made it an easy decision for me to make her a ballet party. I sat on the floor making toe shoes out of felt fabric, tying ribbons around each tutu, baking at all hours of the night and of course searching for more and more inspiration. As a mom, I can say there is no better gift than seeing your daughter enjoy every detail that went into this. From when she walked in to the party listening to her favorite nutcracker music, to when she danced with her friends with my very own ballet teacher, to eating cupcakes before lunch, and to sharing cake with her sister. On a side note- I was contemplating on wearing this outfit just bc most people would think “tieel” it’s the theme of the party. But at the end of the day I realized who cares. The smile on her face when she saw that i was wearing a “tutu” like her, made it so worth it!! Its quite amusing how at a moment we think the people around us that provide us with temporary happiness would be there, in all of our joyous and saddened moments. It is human nature to be attracted to someone who provides us with splendid moments of joys no matter how trivial or how important they may be. We feel a bond tightening whenever we laugh with them, listen to their stories. It wouldnt be unusual to say we live with them. We make moments with them which then, when theyre eventually not with us, turn to memories. Looking at the past we get this nostalgic feeling how much you adored a person, how much effort you put into an abstract bond that could only be felt. And at times you even feel silly for trying so hard to remain with the person that was the evident cause of happiness in your life. The strange realization that settles within you when that person leaves you is that no matter how hard you wouldve tried, you wouldnt have been as important to them as they were to you. Because for them the evident cause of happiness in their life wouldve been through someone else. And that fact breaks you down and churns up your insides making you face the heaviness of the reality. The third installment of my Conversations project Pandemic Update miniseries is online today. I spoke to New Yorker restaurant critic Hannah Goldfield (@hannahgoldfield) about the challenge of writing her Tables for Two column as the restaurant industry convulses and threatens to collapse. What are restaurant reviews for during a global crisis? What place is there for pleasure amid so much suffering? • Hannah’s son Otto has been the (mostly silent, occasionally babbling) third party present at all our interview sessions, pre-pandemic and during the crisis. When Hannah was without childcare in the early summer, Otto provided background noise on the voice notes she recorded in response to my emailed questions. In August he accompanied us on a walk through Prospect Park, where we threaded through streams of socially distanced joggers and shouted out a conversation over street noise. Figuring out how to do her job with a tiny person in her care 24/7 added another degree of logistical difficulty to Hannah’s situation. • I have long appreciated the way Hannah doesn’t shy away from interrogating the most basic facts of her job. She’s always asking what — and who — restaurant criticism is for. As the protests of this summer forced white people to confront their complicity in white supremacy and anti-Blackness, her line of thinking expanded to include a further existential dimension. Who should be doing her job? What if the answer is: not Hannah? • I am thankful to Hannah for the candor and rigor she brought to our conversation. Notre union, nous l’avions très bien imaginée : au chaud avec de grands feux de cheminée ici et là, tous ensemble entourés par de beaux et grands sapins... Nous voulions qu’aucune personne ne manque à l’appel, surtout pas les mamies et les papis. . Parfois il y a des choix à faire, des décisions pas forcément simples mais qui se veulent finalement logiques. Nous n’en avons pas terminé avec ce fichu virus, il faut se protéger encore et encore et surtout penser à la santé de tous. . As May approaches, I can’t help but think about all of the adventures that could have unfolded during my backpacking trip in Europe. However, in the dark of the situation, there is light in the process of waiting. In the meantime, I have been able to research places and craft out a rough itinerary that has me going to places I have never dreamed of going (although spontaneity is alive and will be very much present on this journey) But until then, I am trying to make the best out of my time so that I can come out of this stronger (and potentially a few pounds heavier) than before. . . . Have you reflected yet on what your life was going to look like before your plans were put on hold? There are still so many positives, so instead of thinking of how you can “pass” the time, maybe we could start thinking about what we will do with this time. 68- This is Mel and John 💟 For them, lockdown was emotional. This photo was taken on Swedish Midsommar, a national holiday to celebrate the beginning on summer 🌺 The recently engaged couple tell me that in the previous few years they have spent this holiday with John’s family on Sweden. Naturally, it feels strange being apart from them this year. To pass the time over lockdown , Mel kept busy working out and binging Netflix, of course. John spent a lot of time playing video games with his friends (Even treating himself to a new desk and gaming chair.)
