When I visited Easter Island last year, I was blown away by how few tourists were there, often having entire monuments to myself. It makes sense, it’s one of the most remote, inhabited places on earth with only a few hotels and one flight per day, but if you could visit now, you’d be the only tourist there. Information on this subject is a bit tricky to find, but I believe they haven’t had any tourists on the island since mid March and as a result, the island is now COVID free. At some level, that’s something to celebrate, but for a tiny island who’s economy is entirely propped up by tourism dollars and who’s goods are imported and trash is exported via cargo ship, I imagine things have never been stranger on Rapa Nui. In any case, I had a great time on my trip. The solitude in a place like Rapa Nui is hard to put into words, but as someone who is careful not to let anyone see their horrible dance moves, perhaps the fact that I felt comfortable dancing in the middle of the road while watching sunrise will tell you everything you need to know about how many people I expected to see that morning 🌅 - @agrimisadventures on Instagram

Please follow to me to see more - The Traveling Moai is a single statue with its back turned to the main ceremonial platform at Ahu Tongariki on Easter Island. All the statues on Easter Island were toppled when a civil war broke out between the tribes on the island. In 1960 a tsunami washed the toppled statues inland. In the 1990s a team of archaeologists restored the statues at Ahu Tongariki to their former standing glory. Many of the other statues on the island remain toppled. Isla de Pascua. Febrero 2020. Los paisajes y la cultura Rapanui tan desconocida para nosotros nos dejaron 😮😃. aquí va una muestra. 1. Tongariki Ahu de moais más grande. Cruzamos la isla de noche para ver el amanecer desde allí y fue todo un espectáculo.🗿🗿🗿 El nombre completo de las estatuas Moai es Moai Aringa Ora, que significa Rostro vivo de nuestros ancestros. Su propósito es almacenar el maná de los ancestros, necesario para proteger a la tribu Rapa Nui. 2. Tapati Rapa Nui Fiesta anual Rapa nui. 2 semanas de competición entre dos familias. Danzas, cantos, deportes acuáticos, artesanías, gastronomía... para escoger la reina del año. 3. Tahai Moai reconstruïdo que se encontraba al lado de nuestro camping @anaotai. Las mejores puestas de sol. 4. Caballos salvajes Una de las cosas que nos llamó más la atención fue la cantidad de caballos que estaban libres por la isla. 🐴🐴 5. Terevaka El cerro más alto desde donde se ve casi toda la isla. Aquí entendimos que la tierra era redonda @avallesalas 😉 6. Rano Kau Volcán que nos dejó con la boca abierta. Uno de nuestros lugares favoritos de la isla. 7. Rapa Nui ....the island full of wonder and history . Rapa Nui ( Easter Island ) is most famous for its nearly 1,000 extant monumental statues, called moai, created by the early Rapa Nui people...... Moai are monolithic human figures carved by the Rapa Nui people between the years 1250 and 1500. Nearly half are still at Rano Raraku, the main moai quarry, but hundreds were transported from there and set on stone platforms called ahu around the islands perimeter. Almost all moai have overly large heads three-eighths the size of the whole statue. The moai are chiefly the living faces of deified ancestors .The average height of the moʻai is about 4 m (13 ft), with the average width at the base around 1.6 m (5.2 ft). These massive creations usually weigh around 12.5 tonnes (13.8 tons) each. . Cile 🇨🇱,Rapa Nui ovvero l’Isola di Pasqua - dicembre 2008 I grandi busti, con dimensioni variabili tra 5 e 10 metri di altezza, che si trovano sullisola sono chiamati moai. Sullisola esistono 638 moai. Le statue sono tutte rivolte verso l’interno dell’isola e potrebbero rappresentare capi tribù indigeni morti; secondo la credenza popolare avrebbero permesso ai vivi di prendere contatto con il mondo dei morti. Queste enormi statue venivano trasportate a volte per svariati chilometri, spesso non arrivando nel luogo prefissato (così si giustifica la presenza di statue abbandonate e spezzate sparse per l’isola), attraverso giochi di baricentro, permettendo agli abitanti dell’isola di trasportare queste gigantesche statue quasi facendole “camminare da sole” (come descritto dagli stessi isolani). . . . - @onofriolaricchiuta on Instagram
¿Donde se construyeron los moais? ¿De que están hecho? ¿Hacia donde miran? Rano Raraku es la respuesta. Los moais fueron construidos en la cantera del volcán Rano Raraku, están hecho de roca de origen volcánica y le dan la espalda al mar mirando hacia el centro para proteger a las familias (a excepción de Ahu Akivi los 7 exploradores).
