FUCK!!!! De School is no more... It makes me mad and very very sad... Ive had the most memorable nights here. De School became an actual school for me, where during its first years I played as Makam in the basement. Being a home to a distinctly unique atmosphere, an ambiance we havent seen before in The Netherlands. It was intimate, free, tuff, raw and obviously an abundance of sexiness. I immediately noticed that this space would allow me to experiment and venture into new musical realms, do crazy things, which resulted in even more crazier nights... After some years I did my first TALISMANN dj set, something Ive never done before... De School, and people like Luc, gave me their trust, so I dared to go even deeper within my experimentations. Perfecting my techniques and experience, which became the foundation for a number of absolutely legendary nights. Its hard to explain for me, I felt completely connected with the audience, we were all one. The energy turned into a flow, where I didnt need to think about what track I would play next, it just happened. It was so open and free, that it really shaped the way in how I wanted to express TALISMANN. A blind trust emerged, where I could switch the BPM from 160 to 130 in a single track and back again, infusing moments where there was no beat at all... moments where people could rest a bit and let the magic of the moment deeply sink in. Maybe not everyone understood what I was doing, but many of them did and I want to really thank you all if youre reading this. Ive seen many clubs around the globe, but this one truly was a gem. THANK YOU SCHOOL, THANK YOU EVERYONE WHO EVER WORKED THERE, THANK YOU EVERYONE WHO EVER RAVED WITH ME! To conclude... love is the answer, lets never forget that. Dear Friends, Family, and Black Restaurant Patronizing Guest of The SBPF. Im a black man, not a front man that OWNS TSBPF. Unfortunately, I dont have time to sit in a restaurant waving as guest come in. My goal for the TSBPF from the beginning was to open one and many others as a franchise and thats exactly what Im doing. Im presently in another state right now meeting and looking for new franchise opportunities. My goal was never to sit in a restaurant and micromanage. Ive systematically built a team to handle my day to day operations. I have partners in place strategically, to handle the business accountability. I was taught by my many mentors that own or owned franchises how to put systems and people in place, in order to run a successful business without having to helicopter around team members. My absolute goal when I built TSBPF on paper was to eventually sell it off for $600 million dollars. I signed a franchise deal months ago, and that plan is very much in place today. So, for all the naysayers, black owned business owners that are telling you I dont own TSBPF, let them continue to bump their gums. Theres no need to defend my position. 內容: 想問呢個平台有無審核準則，之前幾個平台都太多基本功唔夠或者價格不合常理地低，基本功唔夠嘅繪師間接令到委託人無興趣睇呢個平台，價格不合常理令到做爛市 希望新嘅平台可以考慮下呢兩個問題！ - Admin: 感謝您的建議～平台也想過應否設立標準以過濾投稿，特別基本功和價格這兩個問題ㄧㄧ前者目的是確保商品（創作）質量，後者牽涉市場價格競爭。 就目前觀察，香港繪圈的交易沒有明文規定，大家都是心照不宣，可以說是包容度和自覺性頗高（笑） 如果平台設立了標準，創作就如考試，過審就是合格，不合審就是不合格，審核準則是基本功。而基本功ㄧㄧ甚麼是基本功？是骨架？透視？還是素描速寫？我們又該如何判别繪師擁有合適又足夠的繪畫基本功力呢？加上若對繪師作品進行審核過濾，難免會夾帶一些個人審美。平台宗旨是推廣，鼓勵創作，並給予繪師和委託人一個方便交易的平台，然而“過濾”此一動作，可能對繪師本人帶來消極態度，這與本平台的初心不一。 那麼平台是否對繪師的作品質量不作任何篩選？是的，但平台需提醒的是請繪師們珍惜投稿機會，平台不過濾作品，但會視投稿頻繁度作過濾，因此請避免短期內多次投稿喔。 在價錢合理性方面，平台同樣不會有明顯審核。平台明白創作者標明的價錢過低會令市場陷入惡性價格競爭，消費者會較傾向價格低的繪師，而價格高的繪師會因消費者的選擇降低價格，或者退出市場，導致劣幣驅逐良幣，即“做爛市”。可是，藝術創作不同於普通的勞力工作，並非可以以簡單的時薪去衡量創意，所以成本難以計算，平台不能也無法審核其繪師應有的最低創作薪金。 反而自主的標格反映繪者對其作品和自身能力的肯定，平台相信每一幅作品都是繪師的心血，擁有的價值絕不止繪師所定的價錢，而且相信每一位繪師決定接稿也是基於自身有一定能力，因此平台更希望各位繪者對自己有多一點信心，你們值得的。 創作是自由、無限、也是有價值的，在作品標上價格的一刻，就必須對作品和自己負責任。平台只提供多一條推廣路線，讓繪師接觸更多不同的人，無論接稿成功與否，亦希望大家繼續努力，增進自己。 - @hk_draw.commi on Instagram

你，鍾意廣東話嘛？ 我會毫不猶豫地答：「我愛廣東話！」，但事實上，香港係少咗人講廣東話，尤其是出街時，聽到唔少身穿校服嘅中、小學生都係講普通話，真係好有可能喺一、兩代之後，博大精深嘅廣東話就會失傳。人，總係要到失去先會珍惜，但有啲嘢，失去咗就唔會返轉頭。廣東話，都係。 The Common Ground 開業至今，其中一款最好賣嘅產品係香港特色燙章系列，當中有一個系列就以廣東話做題材，由平面設計師Frank Lo 創作。今日就由Frank 從廣東話講起，帶出佢心目中最需要保育嘅香港特色。 Frank 呢個系列設計嘅誕生，正值反國教、傘教發生嘅2014年。「當年我從中睇到有關香港嘅語言問題，當時愈來愈多學校用普通話教學，好多人都話要用普通話取代廣東話，所以我希望用final year project 去幫助保育廣東話。設計有雙重意思，首先係希望可以用文字配合圖像設計，去教人用廣東話，二係用lettering 嘅方式去展現廣東話詞語嘅獨特性。」如果有嚟過我哋門市，都會見到Frank 設計嘅九款廣東話燙章，只要睇到文字設計，就會聯想到相關意思，例如黐線會係一堆線纏住、惡死嘅字體係又粗又崛。 廣東話要保育，香港能夠接納同包容多元文化嘅能力亦需要保育。「近年五至十年，我發覺香港對於唔同文化嘅接納同包容能力愈來愈低。以前香港係轉口港，有好多世界各地嘅文化嚟到，香港人隨住時間同環境去學習唔同地方嘅文化，吸收再轉化成香港獨有文化。我認為可以讓唔同特色、文化共存嘅呢一點，係令到香港變得特別嘅地方。」無錯，香港之所以係香港，因為社會可以容納100個人有100種聲音，而唔係100個人只講一個意見。 土地問題亦係「香港特色」，同時影響本地創意工業嘅發展，「喺香港要發展創意事業，所有成本都太貴，尤其係土地成本，所以令到好多想投身設計嘅年輕人卻步。」對比其他亞洲國家，香港對創意工業投放資源及協助一直都唔缺，可惜並不是人人都可以受惠。「每年Create Hong Kong、藝術發展局都會批出好多資源，但獲得資助嘅通常都係傳統機構或某一班好清楚申請程序嘅人，令到唔識遊戲規則嘅年輕創作人難以獲得資源。如果資源可以有效或平均分配畀有需要、有能力、有熱心嘅創作人，我覺得香港其實係絕對唔缺乏資源㗎！」 近年，似乎台灣嘅創意工業已追過香港，其實個問題出喺個制度。「早幾年，我主動去搵資源幫自己嘅社企，申請政府資助過程都幾痛苦，制度、限制好繁複，係令人氣餒到唔想申請。」情況就好似抗疫基金，受惠最多嘅係美心、I.T 呢類大集團，只因熟悉遊戲規則。錢銀以外，香港政府項目招標仍以價低者得為準則，亦係香港輸蝕嘅地方。「早幾年，台灣政府取消價低者得嘅規定，衡量價錢同時，亦要求質素。令台灣近年發展出好多出色嘅公營設計項目，好多年輕有能力嘅公司可以參與政府工程，官方接受程度及能力亦比香港高好多。」 要政府改變，不如我哋香港人自己出手支持創意工業，The Common Ground 有個長期與不同本地插畫師、設計師、藝術家合作嘅「藝術家聯乘計劃」，將佢哋嘅作品製作成燙章，每售出一個燙章，創作者都可得到12% 收入，讓大家以實際行動支持本地創意工業！ 燙章於門市及網上商店同步發售：https://the-commonground.com/collections/frank-lo 想了解更多Frank Lo 嘅設計，可以去： https://www.instagram.com/lyfaat https://www.facebook.com/lyfaat https://www.franklo.hk/project/cantonese-collquial #TheCommonGround #TheCommonGroundHK #TheMills #南豐紗廠 #可持續時裝 #SustainableFashion #可持續發展 #環保 #GoGreen #SustainableLiving #可持續生活 #藝術家聯乘計劃 #ArtistCommissioinScheme #HongKong #HongKongArtists #HongKongDesign #香港設計 #香港特色 #香港藝術家 - @thecommongroundhk on Instagram

My brother took his life 10 years ago. A few years later a faculty colleague in NC did the same. Then a student. Then another student. Then a brother of a student. Then a cousin of a student. Then a student‘s sister tried. My daughter‘s 4th grade class had to discuss as a child at another school who played sports with her school took his life. Suicide is a public health crisis no one is talking about. We don‘t know how. But the biggest help for many is simply having someone to talk to, someone to listen. So I am urging us to be open to conversations about suicide. It may help save a single life.
