The American Downhiller’s lost one of our own yesterday with the passing of Eric Keck, he was 52 years old. Within the ski community Keck was known for his jovial attitude and his football player physique. At Kitzbuhel In 1991 he famously launched off the Mausefalle jump with the wrong direction , he flew over the safety fence and into the woods. Fans and fellow racers were mystified when he got up laughing and celebrating that he was unhurt. Our deepest condolences to Eric’s family and loved ones. He will forever be an American Downhiller. What an amazing weekend with the benjafield double12 crew. 16 hours of racing over two days @goodwoodmotorcircuit in these incredible 1920’s cars, @william_medcalf and I successfully managed to claim the longest race distance with 446 laps completed, that’s 1070 miles in total with just the two of us. Fastest lap was close too before before being beaten by a chunk!!Then in true Bentley Boys style finished off with a “Black Tie” dinner in Goodwood house. Jongess, meisjess, als je al goed kunt autorijden… Als je dénkt dat je goed kunt autorijden… Als je vindt dat je niet kunt autorijden (o wacht, nee, dan spreek ik hier niemand aan...). Doe in elk geval een keer een rijtraining bij Dolf Dekking van Dolf Dekking Driving Events. Ik reed met hem in zijn Porsche 911 Carrera S naar de Eifel, vooral dóór de Eifel, en nú snap ik bochten en snelheden van 250+… o ja én remmen want dat leer je eigenlijk vanzelf wel op die drukke Autobahn😀 en op die briljant bochtende weggetjes rond de Nürburgring Nordschleife. Maar remmen in ehhh voor bochten, voor drempels, voor alles, daar zitten ook wel vijftien, zestien fijne kneepjes in. Als het er niet meer zijn. Dolf brengt je ze bij. In één dag. Als je acht uur in deze Indisch rode Carrera S hebt gereden, gestuurd, geschakeld en geremd met boeddha Dolf naast je als de man die alles ziet wat je doet (echt alles) (ja maar echt, hij ziet wat jij ziet en dat jij ziet - of niet) en die te allen tijde de rust bewaart - ook als jij die niet bewaart, dan heb je die auto 123 keer meer onder controle dan s ochtends. Niet alleen die auto, met zijn 3.0 liter twee turbos en 420 pk en acceleratie naar 100 in 4,3 secs en top van 319 km/h, maar ook het asfalt. De weg. Het doel is de weg - je kent die Facebook-tegeltjes - en dat geldt helemaal op voor zon rijvaardigheidstraining voor gevorderden. De auto op de weg houden. Geheim: dat doet die Porsche eigenlijk helemaal zelf. Jij hoeft alleen maar rustig in die stoel te zitten, rustig dat stuur je draaien en gas geven, heul veel gas geven echt soms veel meer dan je denkt dat kan of goed is... nou ja, schrijf je in.
