If an OB can get a pregnant patient cared for in 10 minutes or less, what do we do with all the other 50 minutes in your midwifery appointments with us?? I might lay down on the ground with my pelvic model and point at my butt while explaining how your posture influences your baby’s position in pregnancy. (Normal midwife stuff 😂) We might spend 10 whole minutes palpating your baby’s position with you during your exam, really making sure you know what your own hands are feeling in there so you can connect with her again at home in between your visits with us. We may take up half the appointment counseling you on your options for gestation diabetes screening, including refusing the whole thing. (What? Options? Refusing?? #informedconsent ) We might designate an entire visit to postpartum planning and helping you get a course of action in place for much more help and support with your upcoming postpartum time than you had with your first baby. We may practice stretches to alleviate that pesky sciatic pain, massage your round ligaments for you, practice relaxation techniques or just turn the lights low while you lay down and listen to our suggestions for getting better sleep. It’s care that can not be replaced with a handout, with a zoom call, with your mother’s advice, or a google search. It’s care that catches the first onset of a complication and works immediately to bring your pregnancy back into normal. It’s care that listens, care that feels, care that checks up on you in between appointments to see if the remedy we suggested is working. It’s not above and beyond care, my friends. It’s the base and basics of what women who grow humans need and deserve. It’s the foundation for confident parenting and connection in a growing family. My 93-year old (very cool) dad left this earth a little over six months ago. In this photo, he’s 91. Dad always wanted to take me to a secluded graveyard where much of my family lay rest, in #Talona, Georgia. Here are two very special people, my sweet grandparents. They celebrated 55 years of marriage at the beginning of this month. I shot these photos in Westport, Washington where they met. My grandfather was driving truck for my grandmas brother-in-law. Her sister had my grandpa come down to the trailer park that my great-grandfather ran & owned and was also where my grandma lived... the rest is history! Story time! My cat saved me. 2 and a half years ago I was in the darkest place ever, I was so depressed and really hated myself. I didn’t value myself at all, all I did was cry myself to sleep every night thinking the world would be better off without me. I hit my all time low. I turned to God and started praying every night (which I never did). I prayed for a sign from god, anything to tell me that I was needed. A few days went by and one night I swore I heard a little meow coming from outside but I didn’t find anything and that night I actually prayed that I could have a cat because maybe having more responsibility would make me feel better. Call me weird but whatever. So the very next day there he was, this little white kitten laying underneath my moms car. That day my life changed. I’m so happy he showed up at my door, he’s literally a gift from god. I’m so thankful I’ve gotten out of that cloud. Our September staff spotlight features another longtime Lakewinds employee. Meet Craig, deli counter lead at our Minnetonka store. We are thrilled to report that in October, Craig will be celebrating his 24-year anniversary at Lakewinds! 🎉 As the deli counter lead in the evenings, Craig is often the go-to guy for the night shift. He makes pizza in the wood fire oven and burritos at the burrito bar, helps out at the cheese counter, makes smoothies, slices meat & cheese, serves deli salads and entrees, and works with the rest of the deli staff to determine which projects should be completed first during their shift. There are a lot of moving parts, and Craig is a great leader for the team. Hes had many memorable moments and wonderful connections from working with the public over the years. When asked to recount some of his favorites, Craig says, Thats a tough question. In 23+ years one builds a lot of great memories, but some of my favorites would include some of my regular smoothie customers, especially the parents with younger children. He says that the best part of the job is being able to serve the quality food that our kitchen and deli staff produce. So, what keeps a person in the same career for so many years (besides their love for AMAZING deli food?) Craig says its the great customers and coworkers! I still look forward to coming into work after all of these years. He wants you to know that were always happy to answer your questions in the deli. Swing by the deli counter some evening, and say hi to Craig if you see him. He adds and if you have any good bird sightings, dont forget to let me know! 24 years is a big deal, regardless of what industry youre in. Everyone, wed like you to take a moment and think about where you were in 1996 and reflect on Craigs 24 amazing years bringing delicious scratch-made deli foods, sliced local meat and cheeses for countless bag lunches and picnics, and serving it all up with a smile or a kind word for shoppers and coworkers alike. #mehrlinge Letztes Wochenende war hier richtig was los! Nachdem erst unsere Kuh Nummer 127, Supra, #zwillinge bekommen hat, folge Kuh Nummer 88, Tundra, mit #drillinge n 😳 Da haben wir alle nicht schlecht geschaut. Selbst der Senior hat in seinen 79 Jahren noch nie erlebt, dass sowohl alle Kälber als auch die Mütter fit und Munter waren! 🥰 Die Zwillinge sind ohne Hilfe zur Welt gekommen 💪, bei den Drillingen hat eben jener Senior geholfen und die letzten beiden auf die Welt gebracht 👨🏻🦳. In nur 15 Minuten waren alle drei #kälber auf der Welt 🌏. Die fünf Kälber sind mit 35 Kilo jeweils natürlich um einiges kleiner und leichter ⚖️ als Einlinge, jedoch nicht so klein und schwach wie ich es erwartet hätte. Alle fünf Kälber werden den Betrieb in wenigen Wochen verlassen, denn auch wenn zwei weiblich Tiere dabei sind, sind diese nicht zur Zucht 🐄 geeignet. Denn weibliche Mehrlingskälber sind, wenn sie in Kombination mit männlichen Kälber geboren werden, in der Regel Zwitter und somit unfruchtbar ❌. Da die Kälber erst ab 50 Kilo verkauft werden, bleiben diese also einige Zeit länger bei uns als die schwereren Einlinge 🥳. I own the fact that I made the choice to get involved with COV|D-19, but I feel called to share that I have found 2020 really challenging at times. Like many of us, I simply can not rationalize how this has been managed by those in power, the political games, the manipulation, the lies, the deceit, the unnecessary deaths, people dying alone and from loneliness, families unable to say good bye to their loved ones with the respect and dignity they deserve, the sheer size of the collateral damage..... This pandem!c has been our mirror - highlighting the good, the bad and the ugly, in a world that we have all played a role in creating. More recently, I have reached the point where I have to believe that there is design, order and intelligence to this. I have to believe that the silver linings will prevail, and that transparency, health, wisdom and true change will be born out of this. This doesn’t mean that I don’t feel frightened at times, worried about what world my children will grow up in. This doesn’t mean that I have any less fire to create change and expose the truth. What this means is that my health and wellness is my priority, and I am choosing to come back to my power, every time I waiver. As my father would say, “don’t let the bastards get you down”. Inspired by Kelly Brogan, can you too consider that is may be a necessary phase of transition, a call to level up our strength, or a spiritual training camp, if you will? Remember, it is the judgement and the fighting with what is, that causes suffering. And as always, acknowledge your fear, your frustration, your anger, your rage. These feeling are all normal, and now, more than ever. “It is no measure of health to be well adapted to a profoundly sick society”. ~ J. Krishnamurti. But instead of just continually fighting, how can you be the change? How can you stand in your power, and lift the energy of the world with your thoughts, your words, and your daily actions? Es war ein schöner Spätsommertag mit einer großen Vielfalt an Wildkräutern auf nicht einmal 500 Metern und einer wundervollen Gruppe an Menschen. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ „Ein paar Meter weiter standen wir plötzlich an einer erstmal unscheinbaren Wiese, die sich bei genauerem Hinsehen aber als Paradies an wilden Pflanzen eröffnete: Hier wuchsen Nachtkerzen, deren Öl ein kostbarer Beauty-Wirkstoff ist, Feinstrahl, der schweißtreibend und schleimlösend wirkt und selbst in der Traditionellen Chinesischen Medizin eingesetzt wird, oder der giftige, gelbe Rainfarn, dessen Blüten aber ganz besonders riechen und sehr gut zum Räuchern verwendet werden können.“ ⠀⠀ Milena vom @amazedmag hat uns begleitet und ihre Eindrücke in einem Magazin Beitrag festgehalten. It is with both great sadness and great joy that I write to let you all know that my beautiful father, James Arthur Coley went to Heaven yesterday. The sadness is because we will miss him so very much but the joy which over shadows that is because we know exactly where he is. He is in the arms of his Heavenly Father. Taking a minute to say thank you for following here on Ig. I started this account with a a single desire to show people that they could have a beautiful home without spending a lot of money. I had no agenda, no branding, and no ambition other than to just provide a place that people could come and find inspiration that was attainable and relatable. Fast forward 7 months and I would have never dreamed I would have been able to start my own Interior Design business. I have absolutely found my passion in creativity but more so get to be with people helping them make their homes beautiful affordably. I just celebrated 24 years of marriage. I met my husband at 17, fell in love and choose to love Him everyday by the Grace of God we are happily married . He is my best friend 2. I am a mom of 4, ages 9, 15, 17, 19. They keep me busy with their sports and passions. 3. I was a former salon owner and gave up my career 17 years ago to be a stay at home mom. Never regret that for one single day❤️ 4. I have a passion for helping young women navigating motherhood, marriage, and life. 5. I am known to have the gift of encouragement and hospitality. I love people, and am pretty compassionate. 6. I don’t use this platform for my faith but it is a huge part of my life and instructs everything I do and every decision I make. 7. I never knew how creative I was until I began using these talents. When I decide to do something I jump in with fear & alot of drive. It has taken maturity to learn to pray and be patient, content and not bulldoze people in my drive in whatever I decide to do whether business or cleaning my house. - I want to thank some designers/friends that have helped me with either encouragement, information, software, and friendship.
