{September 27th, 1948 -- First TV station in Texas goes on the air} On this day in 1948, WBAP-Fort Worth became the first television station in Texas--and indeed in the whole South--to go on the air, carrying a speech by President Harry Truman. The station grew out of Fort Worths first radio station, also called WBAP, established in 1922 by Amon Carter, owner of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. By 1950 six TV stations were operating in Texas, including three in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. In the early 1950s stations in San Antonio and Fort Worth began broadcasting live programs by use of coaxial cable. In 1953 four major television networks served Texas: the American Broadcasting Company (ABC), Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS), National Broadcasting Company (NBC), and Dumont. october 27th, 2017 our executive team, made up of 8 determined, ambitious, relentless, 20-year olds decided to create shake smart’s ultimate BHAG…20 stores by 2020. a BHAG is a “big hairy audacious goal”, &ours was just that. with only 8 stores at the time, we gave ourselves a 3-year timeline to not just double what had taken us almost 7 years to create, but grow by 250%. at that time we were in two states…california & texas. we put our heads down, & we ran. we added systems, exceptional like-minded individuals to our team, & one by one the numbers started to grow. we added florida, arizona, oregon, virginia, utah, oklahoma, & pennsylvania. we sacrificed sleep, time with our family & friends, experienced trials & tribulations, & overcame the ultimate test in 2020 when we were still 4 stores away, & a pandemic derailed our traction. today marks a milestone that no words or photos can describe. today we’ve achieved that BHAG of 20by2020. thank you to all of the individuals & partners who have made this possible. #20by2020 #fuelyourlifestyle #onwardsandupwards - @shakesmart on Instagram

This arch truss building was moved over to the site next door and became the Palais de Danse and a new similar structure was built on the site as a picture theatre. As Miss Toronto, one of my goals was to help the people in my community that were really in need. I was able to collect food donations during the worst part of CoVid 19 and deliver the much needed items to 3 separate shelters in Toronto on multiple occasions. I supported 1 women’s and children’s shelter- Nellie’s Place (pictured above), 1 youth shelter for ages 16-24yrs - Horizons for Youth, and 1 men’s shelter - the Good Sheperd. All three are in the District of Toronto where I live and reign. . These shelters provides meals every day to dozens of people in need and they rely heavily on donations. Unfortunately at the start of CoVid 19, donations stopped as people began hoarding food. I made it my mission to support these shelters in helping some of Toronto’s most vulnerable people. Thank you to everyone who donated and participated in my beauty with a purpose and to my partners, @loblaws and @metro. I was able to make 7 food deliveries to these shelters. We are very sad to announce that Old West Cinnamon Rolls in Pismo Beach is no longer offering vegan cinnamon rolls. They’ve recently changed over from plant based oil to a margarine ingredient containing cows milk. As many of you know, milk in any form is not considered vegan because of the torture dairy cows face from birth in the dairy industry and ultimately death in the slaughter house. What is the best cereal?🥣 It was once estimated that the average American eats approximately 160 bowls of cereal each year. To say cereal is popular in the United States would be a massive understatement. When headed to the table for breakfast, many of us reflexively reach for a box of cereal. For me, that box is Frosted Flakes. As in the saying “They’re Great,” Tony the Tiger really wasnt lying. The magic of this cereal is partly its simplicity. All it is is milled corn that has been frosted with sugar. Thats it. But while there arent any granola clusters, raisins, or fruit flavors to grab your attention, Frosted Flakes is still able to hang with any other cereal on the market. The sweetness is present in every bite but the flakes are hearty enough to successfully balance out the flavors. And much like Cinnamon Toast Crunch, the milk thats left in the bowl after youve finished eating it is a treat in itself.
