To be quite honest, I dont have a witty, thoughtful, clever caption for a post like this. Ive never been good at that, but I am good at sharing. . . Up until now, have never thought graduation has been that big of a deal. Ive already put in the work, and the idea of people gathering to applaud for me standing up and walking seemed rather foreign. But now I realize that however silly the idea of a graduation ceremony may be, I cannot deny that I was left with an uneasy feeling after yesterdays commencement (they really did try their hardest). . . I realized that these ceremonies provide seniors with closure. Or in other words, they allow us to close the yearbook, and conclude a chapter of our life. . . Yesterday, I also had the opportunity to walk around campus with Mal and Cooper. Streets and sidewalks that would traditionally be crawling with families and their grads were now empty. Walking from Camp Randall, up to Ag hall, over to Bascom, and down University Ave, we were able to reminice over our careers at UW (Cooper didnt participate). . . During this walk, I realized that during the last five years I have studied with some of the smartest scholars, competed with and against the nations best athletes, met brothers I am going to have for an eternity, and I have found a community of believers that invest in my walk with the Lord. While there are countless things I wish I would of done differently while at UW, I was left with a feeling of contentment after yesterdays walk. . . Although my time in Madison is not done, as I will be interning for Athletes in Action, running my moving company and applying to graduate programs, my time as a student has come to an end. This post may be one more attempt to grasp a piece of closure or to say goodbye... I honestly have no idea. What I do know is that I feel so thankful for my time at UW, the friendships I have made, and the experiences that have shaped me to the man I am. - @benjaminstone2 on Instagram
