Crónicas de la Carcasa. Parte 3 El Bajo Es bien borroso este momento, no me acuerdo bien de como llegué a la peninsula, pero Recuerdo que en un momento me vi parado solo al lado de la caleta, pensando en que esta era mi primera metida en este lugar, teniendo en la cabeza un montón de historias de terror que había escuchado de esta ola y viendo la nadada que me esperaba para llegar a la rompiente…. Tentador… Cuando estaba apunto de saltar al agua, llegó una moto de agua a recogerme. Por fin estaba viendo en vivo esta ola casi mitológica de Iquique la recuerdo desde mis primeros viajes a esta ciudad, por ahí por la segunda mitad de los 90 y que siempre se veía desde la punta o urracas, levantarse, ahí casi cerca del horizonte, tirando tubos y sifones, reventando totalmente sola. En esa época solo se especulaba la posibilidad de surfearla, los mitos decían que era demasiado grande, que habían rocas que se asomaban en medio dela ola, que era el medio del mar, que había un monstruo submarino con tentáculos y cosas así. Hoy en día no hay marejada (sin cuarentena) que pase sola por aquí. @jc_lombardi @gabriel_brantes1 @camilohernandez , @androcrvik y @happyvil_ no se pierden una en este lugar. Se conocen la ola de memoria y obviamente fueron ellos los que me apañaron en esta sesión. Una vez en el agua, todo tranqui, me costó un poco entender la ola, ya que viene de agua muy profunda y la rompiente se mueve un poco, pero al tener un fondo de roca, la verdad es una delicia poder estar nadando en el canal sin miedo de que te caiga una bomba encima de la nada. Al poco rato llegó mi compadre @cristobal_sciaraffia y los cabros me demostraron lo bien que conocen el lugar. New blog post (link in bio) For the past 10 years, like other filmmakers, environmentalists and NGOs, I have been doing the “wrong things” for the “right reason”: adding strain to the Earth’s resources to help protect them, with intangible results. But that was before the crisis. Now we’re all living like hermits. We’re all doing the “right thing” of consuming minimal resources, for the “wrong reason”: an emergency situation that is costing the lives and livelihoods of hundreds of thousands of people around the world. Suddenly we are reminded that there is a “we”, not just an “I”, in that our decisions can mean life or death for others around us. There is a silver lining: air pollution, which claims over 6 million lives in a business-as-usual year, is plummeting. Carbon emissions are drastically reduced as cars, ships, flights and industry grind to a halt. What is left of Nature recovers partially from our constant abuses. These meager consolations for the tragic human suffering are likely to be short-lived: it would take unprecedented political will to reshape our societies to be both fair and sustainable. Natural disasters will become more frequent in a future where ecosystems are destroyed. We must protect nature, even if our intentions are only as narrow as to protect ourselves. Even if we fail to recognize nature’s inherent value and right to exist. Even if all we look at is the economic bottom line. We must not hope to return to normal, because normal was the enslavement of present and future generations, the discarding of nature as an externality, the consecration of individual greed. We are capable, as a species, of putting our irrational urge for perpetual growth on hold, even if only for a short while. When we defeat the Covid-19, it will be thanks to individual awareness and personal decisions as well as to governments for imposing temporary confinement. We could solve climate change, plastic pollution and over-fishing with the same instrument: the stroke of a pen. We could do the right thing for the right reason. Easy Pineapple Chicken 🍍 Time for Sweet Juicy Summer Pineapple 😋 Ingredients: • Chicken Breast • Pineapple 100 g • Bell Pepper 100 g • Onion 1/2 • Soy Sauce or Ponzu 30 g • Ketchup 30 g • Garlic 1 clove Slice Chicken, Cut Pineapple, Onion and Bell Pepper ( I used frozen, but Fresh is better). Fry using non-stick pan on high heat until chicken is cooked ( about 3-4 min). Mix soy sauce, chopped garlic, ketchup and add 50 ml water ( I also added some tiny pineapple chunks and juice that I get from making pineapple bowl). Add sauce to a pan and cook on medium heat until chicken absorb most of the sauce. Finish with sesame seeds and scallion to taste. Serve with rice. I have thought a lot lately about what makes me happy, what I should do to achieve my dreams and how to engage with other people. Being myself was very hard when I was younger, since I am a handful, weird and really immature, people tended to back off, especially girls. Then when I got older I realized I dont need to behave or pretend to be something I am not. I dont need people in my life who doesnt love me for who I am. I believe in myself, self love is super important, which is why I totally dig myself ! Haha and if you dont, thats totally fine :) achieving my goals is another thing, you wont probably achieve anything if you dont love yourself or no believe in yourself. Once you accept all your flaws and stop thinking about perfection, you will achieve anything. Two years ago @torrenmartyn and I spent three months traveling around both islands of New Zealand on motorbikes. We camped and searched for waves among unfamiliar and stunning landscapes. We had a lot of cold wet and windy days too, spending countless hours sitting freezing cold beneath a makeshift shelter that we strung up between our two bikes. But when we werent wet and shivering we got to share some of the most memorable days of our lives.(the wet, cold ones are probably the ones I remember most clearly though). Its been a huge learning curve putting this hour long film together but we cant wait to share it with everyone soon! Many, many thanks to @needessentials for supporting us through the whole process. 3 things you definitely need and definitely don’t need to start your business 🤍⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Need: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ - Content - create and post at least a month’s worth of content on your business insta before you really lean into launching it to your ideal clients. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ - Budget - know which things you need to invest in at minimum to run your business. Start off on the right foot by saving up and paying off those investments before you go full-time into your business. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ - Contracts - make sure all of your backend, administrative work is done before you launch your business. Most importantly, make sure your contracts are perfect and lawyer-reviewed! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Don’t need: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ - A perfectly designed website - this is something that can be done later. Although it can help establish trust with your clients, there are so many businesses that sell solely off of Instagram. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ - A complete business plan - although it helps to have your business goals mapped out, if you’re not asking for a ton of investment capital from banks or investors, you don’t need to focus on a business plan right away. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ - A ton of Instagram followers - followers don’t equal dollars!! I know so many companies that have 100 or so followers and are making tons of money.
