Pada 28 September 1945, sekitar sebulan setelah proklamasi, saat itulah para pegawai kereta api Indonesia dapat mengambil alih Balai Besar Kereta Api Bandung dari kuasa kolonial Jepang. Dari momen itu, maka 28 September ditetapkan sebagai Hari Kereta Api Nasional di Indonesia. Hal ini sekaligus menandai berdirinya Djawatan Kereta Api Indonesia Republik Indonesia (DKARI). . Sejarah kereta api Indonesia berawal ketika pencangkulan pertama jalur kereta api Semarang-Vorstenlanden (Solo-Yogyakarta) di Desa Kemijen oleh Gubernur Jenderal Hindia Belanda Mr LAJ Baron Sloet van de Beele pada 17 Juli 1864.Kemudian pada 1876, jalur pertama kereta api Indonesia di Desa Kamijen, Semarang, yang saat ini menjadi Stasiun Gudang Semarang dioperasikan. Pada masa itu, kereta api yang digunakan masih menggunakan mesin uap pada lokomotif kereta, di mana petugasnya bekerja dengan membakar kayu dan menjaga api tetap menyala. Ini nih pergantian nama-nama Perkeretaapian Indonesia sampai Menjadi KAI Pergantian nama mengacu pada perjanjian damai Konfrensi Meja Bundar (KMB) Desember 1949, bahwa harus dilakukan pengambilalihan aset-aset milik pemerintah Hindia Belanda. Pengalihan dalam bentuk penggabungan antara DKARI dan SS/VS menjadi Djawatan Kereta Api (DKA) tahun 1950. Lalu pada tanggal 25 Mei DKA berganti menjadi Perusahaan Negara Kereta Api (PNKA). Pada tahun tersebut mulai diperkenalkan juga lambang Wahana Daya Pertiwi yang mencerminkan transformasi Perkeretaapian Indonesia sebagai sarana transportasi andalan guna mewujudkan kesejahteraan bangsa tanah air. Selanjutnya pemerintah mengubah struktur PNKA menjadi Perusahaan Jawatan Kereta Api (PJKA) tahun 1971. Dalam rangka meningkatkan pelayanan jasa angkutan, PJKA berubah bentuk menjadi Perusahaan Umum Kereta Api (Perumka) tahun 1991. Tahap terakhir, perumka berubah menjadi Perseroan Terbatas, PT. Kereta Api (Persero) tahun 1998. Pada tahun 2011 nama perusahaan PT. Kereta Api (Persero) berubah menjadi PT. As we continue to celebrate #CraneCovePark opening this week, lets dive into the parks fascinating history! During WWI and WWII, iron workers fabricated ships from the bottom up on one of Crane Cove’s sloping ramps that extend into the water. Workers fabricated the BART Transbay Tube at Crane Cove in the 1960s. From there, the tube was floated out into the Bay and submerged. Today, Crane Cove Park features a lawn, plaza spaces, a beach for non-motorized water recreation, pedestrian pathways, bicycle access, and garden areas that treat stormwater. #TBT #SanFranciscoHistory #BeforeAndAfter - @sf_port on Instagram

L’Ile d’Aix, un petit bout de terre pour une grande histoire... Loin du tumulte citadin, l’Ile d’Aix, petit croissant de terre classé sur la liste des sites remarquables, est une île exceptionnelle où l’on oubli le temps, et pourtant le temps passé, à laisser son empreinte gravée sur elle. Fragile et isolée, Napoléon 1er ordonne en 1806 de mettre l’île en état de défense. Quelques années plus tard, s’invitant à constater lui-même les travaux de fortification, il y fît construire, entres autres, la maison du gouverneur (l’actuel Musée Napoléon). C’est ainsi qu’en 1815, au lendemain de la bataille de Waterloo, Napoléon 1er décida de passer ses 3 derniers jours en terre de France à l’Ile d’Aix, dans la maison du gouverneur, avant de se rendre aux autorités anglaises puis d’être exilé à Sainte Hélène. Presque 1 siècle plus tard, l’arrière-arrière petit fils de l’aide de camp de Napoléon, le baron Gourgaud, féru d’histoires impériales, et sa compagne américaine la baronne Eva Gebhard, ont accostés sur ce petit joyau de l’océan atlantique, puis vite s’en sont épris et constatant nombres de bâtiments en ruine, ont ainsi créé l’Association Des Amis De l’Ile d’Aix. C’est de cette union que L’Hotel Napoleon fut créée. Last week we shared the interior of 383 George Street, here is what it would have looked like from the street around that time. The lion featured on the receipts also hung above the entrance to the store! . This section of the street was built for Thomas Bradburn around 1860 and was likely designed by John H. Selkirk from Buffalo, New York. . Next door to Fair’s was the H. LeBrun and Co. menswear store at 381 George Street. LeBrun’s was established in 1873 and later occupied the spaces beside the Bank of Toronto on both George Street and Hunter Street from the early 1900s until the late 1920s. As we watch fellow small-business owners close up their shops, restaurants, and other establishments, we’re seeing a look of terror about what the future holds for them, their businesses, and their employees. Our city, nation, and world are in crisis. Going out to restaurants, buying a new pair of shoes, or attending a concert is not only impossible, it’s the last thing on all our minds. But the problem is this: many of your favorite small businesses – the ones you patronize and support daily, won’t be able to survive this complete stoppage for long. She paints and sculpts with encaustic, paint made with beeswax, tree resin, and pigment. Encaustic art dates back to ancient Egypt when Kara found herself going through so much beeswax she decided to take up beekeeping. She liked the idea of a sustainable art form, one that came from the earth into her hands.
