A backlit leaf of the blue water lily collected from the Okavango Delta. I’ve joined the @intotheokavango team for their 9th annual wetland bird survey to capture the smaller, subtler details of this incredible landscape. This lily, called Tswii by the Wayeyi people of the delta, is collected for its starchy rhizome. Pygmy geese and wattled crane feed on it as well. Scientific name: Nymphaea nouchali var. caerulea. // Happy First Day of Autumn! • While we may not have the variety of color-changing foliage of other cooler climes, there is a characteristic South Florida native that offers some amazing color changing displays over the course of the autumn and winter. • Throughout the spring and summer the large, almost circular, broad, leathery leaves of the seagrape are evergreen and have distinctive red veins. Beginning in the late summer though, the leaves begin to turn to a red-orange, evolving into a candy apple red or a deep red right before they fall in winter. Fall is here- Lets FALL in love❤️ Dear you, Fall is upon us and this beautiful season brings not only the awesome opportunity to enjoy numerous warming drinks, stews and hot baths- no, one of the true blessing it brings us is the power of LETTING GO. Of allowing ourself to soften, to retreat and to shed that which is no longer serving us. Whether Summer is all about action and heat, Autumn is naturally windy and cold and a perfect opportunity to start going inside (literally). If we embrace this wonderful season as a reason to slow down a little and FALL into the embrace of Mother Earth we will be guided by Nature- ie going to rest when it gets dark, eating more warming and grounding foods such as root veggies, ginger and cardemom etc. This is the season of VATA (according to Ayurveda) and its element is air which is all about change and transitions! And look around you: not only are the temperature dropping like crazy our entire planet is constantly going through daily shifts with new info from everywhere, so I cant emphasise enough how VITAL it is for your wellness of mind body and spirit: to make sure you ground yourself by slowing down, taking the time out to reflect, do some yoga and some meditation. catch up with lovely friends, read lovely books and above all keep WARM. Speaking of grounding... My Wednesday evening yoga class has a new home: UGLY DUCK studio on Tanner street in Bermondsey HURRAH!! Sessions will be in person, candle lit and costs £15 unless you bring a friend then its £10 each. Пыл и задор пропали, ну вы же меня понимаете?! — Люблю их не могу, и была бы моя воля, и много денежек, то штук 10 было бы точно.
