Estreia novo espetáculo do Tablado de Arruar, Abnegação 3 - Restos. A partir de cinco situações paralelas, que se passam em ambientes privados, em um mesmo momento histórico, é traçado um panorama de uma sociedade à beira do colapso. Em cada uma das cenas, personagens com antigas ligações ao PT se sentem perdidas em um mundo que parece não mais necessitar deles; por outro lado, as novas gerações veem-se defronte da necessidade de criar um lugar para si próprios, em um mundo onde os tempos históricos não se sucedem, mas, se sobrepõem. SWIPE, there’s 3 photos Aiight so boom, I’m gonna pick on myself a little bit to make a point and I truly hope my message reaches those who need to see this. Let me start by saying “you don’t know what you don’t know”. In these photos from 2016, 25 year old Tig was a brand new firearms instructor. I did a ton of photo shoots to convey the message that black women can and should carry and learn how to use firearms. The problem with these images is that I’m breaking safety rules (1st and 2nd photo) and I have an improper two handed grip (1st and 3rd photo). My thumbs should be forward (it’s better, just trust me), my fingers should never be on the trigger and I shouldn’t be pointing my firearm at the viewer. I’m also holding two firearms (2nd photo) which is HIGHLY impractical for real life. It doesn’t matter that I know none of these firearms were loaded. “Perception is reality” and if it looks like I’m being unsafe, then I am. To the untrained eye the photos look cool and are attention-catching HOWEVER my responsibility as a firearms professional is to present proper firearm safety and handling techniques. Every day I see cute photos of men and women using firearms as props (not really mad at this). The issue is the unsafe and improper handling of firearms in these photos could confuse those who don’t know better. I don’t want anyone to look at me breaking the safety rules or using a trash grip and think it’s ok. As an instructor, how can I use a photo of me breaking safety rules to advertise firearm safety classes. Crazy right? Anyone who posts photos holding or using firearms has the responsibility to make sure they’re doing so properly. So if you see something wrong, politely and respectfully say something because sometimes people just “don’t know what they don’t know”. Inteset is a personal exploration of my cultural background and the inner conflict I experience between identifying as both Australian and Chinese. Where I once was reluctant to embrace my Chinese background, through this collection I sought to reconciliate these opposing elements of my identity. Each garment references traditional Chinese silhouettes which are modified to look more western. To represent the juxtaposition between the conservatism of Chinese Culture and the liberalism of Western culture, the looks are adjustable to either cover or expose various sections of the body.
