testing 🎙 testing 🎙 Does this thing work?? Thank you all so much for your kind words + support in today’s Instagram live. It was so fun!! If you missed out, here’s the 411: We’ve been radio silent on here these past few weeks, because I, (Fiona, director of our socials) had to take a mental health break. By break, I mean I had to step away COLD TURKEY from the biz to heal my anxiety. Not being anxious because my full time job, in the words of my friend Heather. The pandemic pushed the generalized anxiety disorder I’d been ignoring for years into THE DANGER ZONE 🚨 I only gave myself notice because I was in so much pain— physical pain! First, I thought it was a UTI, then kidney stones then anemia then thyroid problems then lupus + on + on... but all tests kept coming back normal. Turns out I was having panic attacks every single day.... I felt like I was dying. Fear paralyzes me. And I lost the joy in my life + didn’t know how to go forward. Thankfully my PCP (dear friend) recognized my severe anxiety + took me to a mental hospital for treatment. Today, I graduated from my Partial Hospitalization Program! Though I’ve still got a long way to grow, I feel a world of difference from the woman I was sobbing in the car on the way to the hospital 4 weeks ago 🌷 I’m not back at work yet + probs won’t be active on here much in the next 2 weeks. Social media can be a terrible thing when you have imposter syndrome, perfectionism, self esteem issues, depression, negative automatic thoughts, intense worry, neglect your own self-care, etc. I spent the vast majority of my life lifting up others while never filling my own tank. BUT! I’m learning + using tools to positively cope and build myself up ❤️ Whew! VULNERABILITY 🥴 I’m sharing my story because it might help one of you know you aren’t alone when you think life is too much to bear. You aren’t alone in any of this, I promise. It’s okay to ask for help. It’s okay to take a break. It’s okay to say no. This is the truth. Your needs are real, valid, honorable.
