A free t-shirt does not pay the bills for anyone, so if that is not enough “compensation” for you to perform work and produce something on behalf of a brand...then you don’t have to feel bad about not doing it. A placement in a print magazine (nowadays with probably less eyeballs) still costs hundreds of thousands, a traditional photographer costs thousands, so if you feel your endorsement is valuable enough for a monetary exchange, then I cheer you on and agree with you. To make you more comfortable, I’m sharing my most frequently used REPLY I use for these requests. . NOTE: we also want to make it clear that you should never do something “just for the money,” but this is a resource for you to practice knowing your worth and being compensated for what you define as fair. . Treating your business like a business and making boundaries for yourself is important. SO, what about those exceptions to the “I don’t work for free” rule? . 📱 It’s a small brand or a special campaign that you are a huge fan of and you want to support anyway, knowing they have a small budget 📱 You know this will be a valuable biz relationship for you and want to show them what you’ve got 📱 You are new to working with brands and starting to build your portfolio or community 📱 The product or service value matches the monetary compensation you expect to receive, you’d “buy” that anyway 📱 You say “yes” to the gifting opportunity but make it clear that you cannot guarantee any coverage and will do your best to include when the brand is a fit (a journalist would do the same) . PCOS AWARENESS MONTH 💜 How do you know if you have PCOS? How were you diagnosed? Do you suffer from any of these symptoms? I can honestly say Ive probably been to over 50 different doctors in 4 different counties to do with my PCOS. I can confidently say I have had my fair share of disappointing appointments, frustrating conversations, lots of tears and feeling so lost and alone to why my body was in such a funk. I was determined to figure it out. I wasnt going to let the doctors defeat me so I dedicated my spare time to researching, learning and understanding PCOS. It is complicated and affects us all very differently, however it isnt the end of the world and there are many things we can do to help our symptoms. PCOS is not spoken about enough. There isnt enough awareness when its the LEADING cause of infertility. So many of us struggle to have children, and this is why. So why arent doctors trained on it more? Unfortunately there isnt enough funding. however we can all do our bit to try and change that. Its PCOS awareness month and we need to try and push for a change in the medical system. Its amazing to see such a PCOS community on instagram, with so many of you sharing your stories and posting about your journey. Keep doing it, keep spreading the love and awareness. We are all in this together and the more we talk about it, the more we will get acknowledged. If we keep supporting each other and having open discussions, the more likely we can identify symptoms at a much earlier stage and empower women to make more educated and informed decisions on how to control their PCOS. Before recycling, turn it into an on-the-go cup for water or cold brew, a food storage container, or even a planter. Odd silverware pieces? I recently read an article from author Nora Roberts and I instantly connected to the subject matter!👇🏽 🤹🏽♀️ Between working and being a mom, its safe to say youre probably juggling a lot right now. Im not talking about 3 balls in the air, but more like SIXTY-THREE balls that youre desperately trying to keep from falling on the ground. 🙃 More than just family and work. Its that deadline. That family supper. That soccer game. Crazy hair day at school. That client call. Even something as simple as remembering to make your childs lunch for school amongst the chaos of the morning shuffle. When it comes to doing it all, sometimes you have to drop a ball... If you drop a plastic ball, it bounces so no harm done. If you drop a glass ball, it shatters.👏🏼 You have to know which balls are glass and which are plastic and prioritize catching the glass ones. Women should not have to prioritize kids over work, but should also be able to if she pleases. Sometimes to catch a glass work ball, you have to drop a plastic family one, and thats okay! Vice versa as well. Ive been thinking about this SO MUCH lately! I feel like I am dropping a few balls a day. I definitely dropped a ball or two today. 🤷🏽♀️ It is hard to drop ANY ball, and I hate that feeling! A reminder to myself, and to you: remember that they were just plastic, and tomorrow is a new day.
