Today I picked up a pen and began to work on the children’s books I said I never had time to finish 🖤 Doug taught me to love. Not just others but myself....he gave me a place to call home even when we didn’t have one and he gave me a reason to smile when things felt like they were falling apart. He taught me that no matter who brings you down - every day is new and worth living! Next season I won’t have my show buddy. I’ll always cherish how He would dig a hole and wait for me by the stall until we returned from the ring! Even the worst days would turn around with a simple tail wag from him when we turned the corner to the stall ❤️ He was my biggest fan and my best friend when I felt like mine fell short. There was a time I couldn’t afford to have a groom and if I had to clean my own stall I was told by the trainer I’d have to move my horse to a row of stalls far from theirs in result. Instead of feeling inadequate or excluded I didn’t care. I had doug and we were a team 🖤 Doug didn’t care about what ribbons we brought back. And, when I started my business - he was there! He traveled snow to show...He didn’t care if we stayed in a shitty hotel or slept in our car 🖤 he was with me through it all....he was always waiting and being my number one fan regardless of the outcome. Fans from his page would track us down to meet him! He’d play with every dog on the show grounds gently and everyone around us at every show adored him. He gave me the confidence to believe in myself without words....his presence was empowering and everyone in his path agrees they are a better person from an encounter with his true love for life and unconditional friendship to all 🖤 Finishing his stories and publishing them will be for him 🖤 my eyes took pictures his whole life and I’m so thankful I was that weird pet owner and made him his instagram page.
