Obetalbar guldgruva att söka fakta i, innan internet. Jan var betydligt yngre till sinnet än många 20-åringar jag mött. Alltid full av entusiasm och ideer. Depuis le début de l’été, le toit du Centre PHI est devenu un épicentre musical dans le Vieux-Montréal, avec la série de concerts Sonication. La fin de semaine dernière, lors du 4e opus des concerts sur le toit, PHI et l’équipe de MURAL festival ( @muralfestival ) en collaboration avec Hennessy Canada ( @hennessycanada ) donnaient le coup d’envoi de #MURALEstival 2020. Avec les performances éclatantes de Random Recipe ( @randomrecipe ) et Les Louanges ( @lil_louanges ) was les visiteurs du Centre ont été transporté dans l’ambiance des spectacles de musiques tout en admirant les oeuvres numériques des artistes visuels Yumar (@yumar11 ), La Charbonne (@lacharbonne ) et Loopkin (@loopkin_514 ) lors de la retransmission sur les écrans à travers le bâtiment. Hello! Just wanted to quickly recap 2019 before we get too far into the new year: One year ago tonight, I couldn’t sleep, so I got up and made A Beat Called Love. Then I went on tour to SXSW with @cumulus.songs. Then @sebastienderamat and I shot a music video in my house. Then Cumulus played Doe Bay Fest and I got engaged!!! This year I collaborated with some mega-talented people (what’s up @like_lions206, @robin_schorr, @neonbloomsynth, @trgmusic, @fineprincemusic, the aforementioned @cumulus.songs), played in Canada for the first time, released my first remix, made tons of progress on a long-running secret project with @magic_miles, and capped it all off by playing the first Environment show since 2017, followed by a sold out New Year’s Eve at the Tractor (pictured here). There’s so much more it wouldn’t fit in a caption, but those are some highlights for me. I’m grateful for everyone that I get to work with and everyone in my life that supports what I’m doing here. I was just reading yesterday that from 2010-2017 the suicide rate in ages 14-25 years old has increased 56%. Pretty scary. This was one of my favourite nights of tour last year. From the sweatbox meet and greet to the final confetti blast, it was just an incredibly special one and this was a very special moment for me. I think Its wild that she thinks this world she lives in is perfectly normal because to me it’s anything but. A world where as a 2 year old Taylor swift would come on the radio and she’d ask ‘which Aunty is this?’ and then look confused as we try to explain she doesn’t actually know everyone who sings the songs in our car (I think Jess eventually took the credit for ‘shake it off’ to clear things up). This picture from today last year at the Roundhouse show in London, which was my first hometown show in 15 years, is bringing back proper memories. It was one of those days in life that was an unforgettable high so thankyou. Im sorry I’ve not been in touch for a while. Ive been hunkered down here with the family, trying to deal with the craziness of this whole situation, and also watching as all the summer shows have been cancelled. We were so looking forward to getting out on tour across Europe this summer. The shows around Still On My Mind have been such a joyful, life-affirming experience, and I was so excited about doing more. But sadly all of those have now been cancelled, because of the coronavirus restrictions. So I just wanted to send a heartfelt apology to all of you who’d bought tickets for any of the shows which have now been pulled. Jag ville ha hans milda nöjda blick. Jag stillade mig och köpte samma marinblåa och beiga kläder som hans familj hade. Blev aldrig riktigt godkänd. Jag ville så gärna... Då han blev kär i mig var jag en fjäril i granna vilda färger och inom några år hade jag g(l)ömt mina kulörer och tyglat mina rörelser men på natten drömde jag att jag frenetiskt jagade runt i stad, i skog och myrar, på tak och grottor och försökte hitta platser att gömma en skimrande guldväska och ett litet litet barn, nästan ett embryo. Åh var fanns den perfekta platsen där de kunde vara säkra tills jag skulle hämta dem? 🤲🏽 Lång tid efter skilsmässan förstod jag drömmen. Och jag hämtade barnet och guldväskan då jag tillfrisknat och hittat tillbaka till mig. När någon idag kallar mig ”för mycket” och ”barnslig”- sträcker jag på mig i mina kläder i sju olika mönster, pratiga händer, min feta röst, sprattliga lekfulla kropp och säger: ”Jaha- och?”. Att leva med någon som inte rycker till som om jag var farlig när jag plötsligt rör mig eller hojtar till, att ha en vardag där de enda spökena och motkrafterna till min personlighet och utseende kommer från skeva människofientliga normer och internaliserat tvivel -inte från den som jag lever med. Han är istället på MIN sida i kampen. Och jag på hans. Ja, det skulle jag fan ha. För då har jag inte ens nämnt han som slog mig på käften om jag pratade med en dörrvakt för länge el dansade för innerligt på dansgolvet så att folk tittade. Eller han som började uppvakta mig då jag var tolv. Han var 31. I spoke to a Polish group who described themselves as libertarians and then told me they advocate making homosexuality illegal and that women should look after the home. All this was mixed with fairly average people with a grudge for various things from sex trafficking to an end to a cash free existence. In other words I’m not sure what the f*ck it was about. However, to be fair it was friendly and peaceful until the police waded in for what appeared to be, in my opinion, absolutely nothing. I could have told the police chief that if you start off where there are Millwall Footie fans standing it’s not going to end well. So here’s a few picks of what happened. Kudos to the fella in the last frame who just carried on playing his guitar and smoking his spliff and went largely untouched throughout the entire debacle. Heute vor 10 Jahren startete in Astana, Kasachstan unsere „Schall und Rauch“-Tour, die uns zunächst quer durch Zentralasien und anschließend in den Nahen Osten führte. Auf dieser Tour konnten wir diverse Länderpunkte sammeln - nicht nur in Kasachstan, sondern auch in Tadschikistan, Usbekistan, Jordanien, Türkei und Israel. Speziell in Zentralasien werden einige dieser Staaten autoritär geführt, dort kann ein Rockkonzert noch echten Aufruhr hervorrufen, aber auch großes Glück für die Bevölkerung bedeuten. A year - WOW. When did I blink? On the 25th September 2019 I got the INCREDIBLE opportunity to help coordinate the BIGGEST climate moblisation Greater Manchester has ever seen along with the incredible @youthstrikemcr (which has grown by over 30 since last September!). I still cant put into words the incredible atmosphere and whirlwind of emotions I felt that day. To stand united with millions around the world and thousands within Manchester gives you a sense of unity that blocks out even the strongest pieces of doubt. For that day it honestly felt like we could solve the climate crisis ourselves as one united entity ✊🏼🌍 This time last year I also thought more would have happened - that the praise we got from organising the strikes would have turned into action. That the world would have seen the power and momentum of peoples demands that day and decide to change. But we are pretty much in the exact same place. And so we are still here - Covid and all - we are still here demanding better of those in power. Thank you to everyone who has continued to fight even when it felt (and feels) like it is doing nothing. There is power in persistence, unity and determination 💓✊🏼 So have a sit back and look at some of the best bits of the strike.
