#worldsuicidepreventionday #suicidepreventionmonth It’s hard to talk about how often ideas, plans, even actions have crossed my mind and happened ever since I was 7 years old. It’s an impulse I don’t often control. A mental illness that consumes me in its darkness and very rarely let’s me light or reason to fight it. I’ve been told I’m evil my whole life. And I have a hard time combating the ingrained and reinforced belief that it would make the world better if I wasn’t there. I feel, and am, isolated almost 24/7. I can’t breathe. I’m shackled in body and voice. I find connections in music. I always have. Stories in my family say I started making up my own songs when I was 2 years old. I started playing piano at that age too and moved on to so many instruments as I got older. Drums started at 4 and became my mainstay however, the instrument I found my soul would empty itself into along with writing. Concerts have been the place I’ve seen glimmers of light. And the messages the artist I’m drawn to convey, the connection I feel to their work, their words, have let me meet so many people who have truly touched my life and made it better (even when camping outside 24h in the dead of winter for @iamhalsey lol). I fight to hang on to live this summer’s plans that have been delayed. To hug @anniebanannie704 and @al_martin5 and so many others. To see @sadgirlsloan again when she can tour her new album and have her basically expose all my demons to the world. I hold on because I need to see @fletcherxfinding @thatgirlbishop and @itsnicolina live since I’ve never gotten the chance to yet! .... But I guess I fight because somewhere somehow I hope that one day I’ll see what living feels like and not simply surviving from one trauma to another since the earliest childhood. To find my place where I can be myself and feel whole...and unafraid another attempt on my life at the hands of someone else. I hope one day I’ll know what I try to give the kids I care for; to always feel loved and safe. I hope one day I feel it too. Somewhere. Somehow. - @starlesswaves on Instagram

- First time posting, just went for a basic Taylor Swift look:)
ANGeL-GO BLEu. 901 study of the master Abbott Thayer. This painting has always stopped me dead in my tracks. I got to see it up close in DC last year. Woah!!! Something about this painting that makes me want to be like Abbott. So the best way to be like Abbott is to draw near, do a study in Bleu and see if I can’t catch a little of his sensitivity and “other worldliness” and fricken awesomeness. One thing I’m fully aware of as I do these studies of the masters is...that they already solved all the problems and my drawing might “just soar” because his painting already soared. Or to put it more succinctly... my drawing resonates because his FIRST resonated. So here’s to more studies and here’s to more resonating and heres to more “drawing near” to greatness.
