DAKSHINA KALI The term KALI sounds so little but carries a huge meaning in it. Kali comes from kala which means time as well as black. She is the one who controls and destroys time. This painting depicts the form of Dakshina kali which we get in her Dhyana mantra(spritual chantings). Later the form in which we worship her today was developed by Sri Krishna-nanda Aagambagish (he first brought the Tantra Sastras in single book named Brihat Tantra sar, he was also the Guru of very famous poet saint Sadhak Ramprasad). Here Kali seats on Mahakala(time, popularly known as the other form of shiva) and as we can see she is engaged in sexual activites. As I told in my earlier posts that like this Kali creates and sustains the world. She carries the universe in her womb(shown in my painting) many texts also says that she is only the universe. Under Mahakala there is Sada Shiva the one who resides on Kailash mountain. He is situated here as a Corpse or dead body, it is the touch of Kali which makes him superior and she is the goddess who makes him God. Even when we worship Shiva Linga(the sex organ of shiva) we find the it emerges from a yoni(vagina) this represents that the strength of Shiva comes from Kali or Devi. Now its time to describe Kali : Kali is black or midnight blue. The colour where all colours blend together. All manifestations desolves in her. Sri Ramkrishna once said u all r far away from kali thats why kali appears black to u Like the water in a lake looks black or dark from far away, get closer and take the water in your hand and its colourless, Kali is just like that she dont have a shape, gender, colour or anything i.e Nirakara(one who is shapeless). If we see Kali in a philosophical way, her red tongue points at us or the society which makes sex or nudity as a taboo or dirty thing where as this is a very natural process and most important for creation. In recent past the feminists found kali as Sexually liberating as instead of massaging her husbands feet she danced upon him(according to the folk stories). . . आदिलशाही राज्यात लपविलेली करवीरनिवासिनी अंबाबाईची मूर्ती छत्रपतींनी पुन्हा मूळ मंदिरात स्थापन केली. पातशाह्यांच्या काळात कोल्हापूर प्रांतावर आदिलशहाचा ताबा होता. या काळात सर्वत्र धामधूम माजलेली असायची. राज्यव्यवस्था स्थिर नव्हती. युद्धप्रसंगी मंदिरांची नासधूस केली जायची. अशावेळी देवीच्या मूर्तीस काही अपाय पोहोचू नये या हेतूने करवीरनिवासिनी अंबाबाईच्या पुजाऱ्यांनी देवीची मूळ मूर्ती मंदिरातून काढून नेऊन कपीलतीर्थाजवळ गुप्त ठेवली होती. पुढील काळात कोल्हापूर प्रांत स्वराज्यात आला. छत्रपतींचे स्थिरस्थावर राज्य स्थापन झाले, तेव्हा वेदशास्त्रसंपन्न नरहरभट सावगावकर यांनी करवीर राज्याचे अधिपती श्रीमंत छत्रपती संभाजीराजे (दुसरे) यांची पन्हाळगडावर भेट घेऊन महाराजांस हा सर्व वृत्तांत सांगितला व आपणांस साक्षात्कार होऊन आई अंबाबाईने आपली मूर्ती मूळ ठिकाणी स्थापन करावी, असा दृष्टांत दिल्याचे महाराजांस सांगितले. यावेळी छत्रपती संभाजीराजेंनी आपले सेनापती सिदोजी घोरपडे - हिंदूराव गजेंद्रगडकर यांना अंबाबाईच्या मूर्तीची मूळ मंदिरात विधीवत प्रतिष्ठापना करण्याची आज्ञा दिली. महाराजांच्या आज्ञेनुसार सेनापती घोरपडेंनी सन १७१५ साली विजयादशमीच्या शुभमुहूर्तावर करवीरनिवासिनीच्या मूर्तीची मूळ मंदिरात विधीवत प्रतिष्ठापना केली. ती तारीख होती दिनांक २६ सप्टेंबर १७१५. तोच हा आजचा ऐतिहासिक दिवस, जेव्हा एक शतकाहून अधिक काळ गुप्तपणे लपवून ठेवलेल्या अंबाबाईच्या मूर्तीची तिच्या मूळ मंदिरात पुनर्स्थापना झाली. छत्रपतींच्या स्थिर व सुरक्षित राजसत्तेचे ते प्रतीक होते. मूर्तीबद्दलची माहिती देऊन आपल्याकडून हे शुभकार्य घडवून घेतल्याबद्दल छत्रपती संभाजीराजांनी नरहरभट यांना काही पेठा व वतने इनाम दिली व देवीच्या नित्य पूजाअर्चेसाठी सावगाव हे गाव इनाम दिले. . छत्रपती संभाजीराजे (दुसरे) म्हणजे छत्रपती शिवरायांचे नातू व छत्रपती राजाराम महाराजांचे सुपुत्र होत. संदर्भ : करवीर रियासत, पान २६४ सेनापती घोरपडे घराण्याची कैफियत. छायाचित्र - करवीरनिवासिनी अंबाबाईच्या मूर्तीचे शंभर वर्षांपूर्वी टिपलेले ऐतिहासिक छायाचित्र. - @kolhapur_darshan on Instagram

Kurma (Sanskrit: कूर्म; Kūrma, lit. turtle) is the second Avatar of Vishnu, succeeding Matsya and preceding Varaha. Like Matsya, this incarnation also occurred in Satya Yuga. The temples dedicated to Kurma are located in Kurmai, Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh, and Srikurmam, Srikakulam District , Andhra Pradesh. [Purana] scripture indicates that the sage Durvasa had given a garland to Indra, the king of Gods. Indra placed the garland around his elephant, but the animal trampled it, insulting the sage. Durvasa then cursed the gods to lose their immortality, strength, and divine powers. After losing the kingdom of heaven, they approached Vishnu for help. He advised that they had to drink the nectar of immortality to regain their glory. To obtain it, they needed to churn the ocean of milk, a body of water so large they needed Mount Mandara as the churning staff, and the serpent Vasuki as the churning rope. The Devas were not strong enough to churn on their own, and declared peace with their foes, the Asuras, to enlist their help. Finally, Mount Mandara churned, but the force was so great the mountain began to sink into the ocean of milk. Taking the form of the turtle Kurma, Vishnu bore the mountain on his back as they churned the waters.[1][2] Fourteen precious things arose from the turbulent ocean, culminating with Dhanvantari, the physician of the gods, who brought with him the nectar of immortality. The Asuras immediately took the nectar, and quarreled amongst themselves. Vishnu then manifested himself as the beautiful Mohini and tricked the Asuras to retrieve the potion, which he then distributed to the Devas. Though the Asuras realized the trick, it was too late—the Devas had regained their powers, and were then able to defeat their foes. There are three temples dedicated to this incarnation of Vishnu in India: Kurmai of Chittoor District of Andhra Pradesh, Sri Kurmam in Srikakulam District of Andhra Pradesh, and Gavirangapur in the Chitradurg District of Karnataka. - @indianmythology on Instagram

Raavana praising lord shiva- The form we dont always see or spoken about this great shiva devotee . This was before Ravanan become known as the great devotee of Shiva. Infact it was believed that Ravanan got his name, Ravana (the crying one), during this incident. Ravanan was trying to pass through Kailash while on his chariot, to which Nandi had advised not to. Ravanan was stubborn and started lifting the entire Kailash with Shiva and Parvathi still seated on it. Furious with Ravanans action, Shiva pressed his toe downwards to trap Ravanan under Kailash. With the advise of his followers and advisors, Ravanan then ripped of one of his 20 arms and one of his 10 heads, tendons and nerves to form a veena out of it. He then started singing Shiva praises for 1000 years, before finally being freed from the trap. During this 1000 years is when he slowly became the greatest devotee of Shiva. Not only was he awarded the freedom, his head and hand was restored. He had received an invicible sword as well, which he uses to combat Ram in the Battle of Lanka.
