Under nästan åtta år hade han vandrat norrut från Göteborg och arbetat som gesäll på olika bagerier. 31 år gammal slog han sig nu ner i Norrbotten för att bygga sin familjs framtid – det var dags att öppna eget bageri! Johans son, Frans Gustav, tog sedan över bageriet när fadern dog. Det var tuffa tider. Inga pengar fanns sparade i företaget, bara skulder. Det gällde att snabbt komma igång med bakningen. Råvaror som mjöl och kryddor fanns på lager, men ingen jäst. Genom att byta till sig ett kilo jäst mot en sparkstötting kunde Frans Gustav sätta sin första deg som bagare i Älvsbyn. Dewey had successfully served with the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) as an operative in German occupied France in 1944. After the surrender of Japan he was sent to French Indochina to lead a seven member team in search of missing American airmen. While leaving Saigon with members of his team, Dewey was mistakenly identified as a member of the French military and killed by Viet Minh soldiers. We hope you find them interesting. • Fritz Spiess csc was dubbed by his colleagues as “the dean of Canadian cinematography.” He was a genius with light, and his work on over 3,000 commercials during his brilliant career earned him many awards and accolades. The TV Bureau of Canada named one of its major awards after him, and the CSC’s Fritz Spiess Award for Commercial Cinematography was announced in May 1999, a little over a year after his untimely death. He was also renowned for documentary work, such as the 360-degree film on Canada featured at Expo 67 in Montreal. As a founder, he actively supported the CSC from 1957 right up until his terminal illness. He taught us how to fly. He led dead poets. He was the therapist we didn’t know we needed. He clowned around when we were down and was always there to patch things up. He made genies and magic feel real and he was probably our generations first exposure to cross dressing and lord was he fabulous. Every movie he starred in and every character he played during that golden age showed us how to show up fully, love passionately, to give second chances, to put family first and to fight to get through to people even when it seems like a lost cause. He was an brilliant actor and a hilarious comedian, but he was more than that. All he ever did was use his gifts to make the world a better place. Then a day came when the world was too much for him, and alone one cold morning he took his own life. Just like Anthony Bourdain, Chester Bennington, Avicii, and Chris Cornell, too many of the men who inspire us and light the way lose the will to live and struggle to find that light within themselves. In a world where it seems the very worst of men make decisions for the rest of us, I find myself increasingly focused on looking at human issues from the perspective of mental, emotional, and spiritual health. If even millionaires who have accomplished all of their dreams want to die, I can only imagine how many countless souls in the world are struggling to survive. There’s a quote I like that says ‘be kind for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle that you know nothing about’ but I would take it one step further. Love fearlessly and courageously cause nothing in this life is promised. In a world that obsesses over looks and status and self protection, and from a generation that says “do less” I would challenge us to practice radical love, radical compassion, and radical patience for those around us. It’s been said that the smallest amount of love could change someone’s day, and perhaps now we can take that a step further and recognize that any act of love in this day and age could literally save a life. There’ll be plenty posted on his fantastic Cricket career, but a few years ago I was asked to photograph Dean and the Australian Golf Champ, the late Ian Stanley on a round of Golf for promotional photo’s for Pay TV. It was one of the funniest jobs I’d ever done, they continually joked around and made it hard for me to concentrate to set up decent pics. Deano would suddenly crouch down and use his club like a billiard cue or lean on his bag to pose then suddenly turn it over emptying all his clubs over the green.. This is my dad. A computer whiz, who’s entrepreneurial spirit lead him to start a successful computer business while instructing Navigators for C-130s in the Air Guard. He was smart, career driven, had an amazing laugh and loved his family the best he could. When I was 12 he was in a car accident that lead to a botched surgery, chronic pain, two failed suicide attempts and at 50 an accidental overdose from oxycontin (a drug that has ruined many lives and families). Today has been 13 years. His life was taken too soon, and this is the reminder I have to live mine to the fullest. So that’s what I’ll continue to do. ❤️ - @ellemajors on Instagram

Hey all, it’s been a long time since I’ve done one of these but I thought I’d give you a little updated #fridayintroduction I’m Justin, the less-beautiful half of Justin & Mary. A few things about me 1️⃣ So lately I’ve been working on some personal projects shooting #4x5film on my #gowlandflex twin lens. When we were in New Orleans last week I met another photographer named Valentine that was shooting some paper negatives in an 1800’s wet plate camera… and then he was developing them in a mini portable darkroom right there on the street! So he photographed me with my Gowlandflex, and I made a portrait of him. (more on that to come). 2️⃣ This past year I’ve also taken up Squash. It’s crazy! I played competitive racquetball in college but this is SO different! It’s been really fun and an amazing workout, but my record resembles that of the Cleveland Browns this year (as a Giants fan, I feel your pain!), but then again it’s only my first season and I’m playing against guys that have done this for years. 🏆3️⃣ I love our morning routine with @marymarantz and @attaboyatticus. Atti and I come downstairs and he does three consecutive jumps up on to the couch to say morning to M, then we go downstairs to make breakfast. 4️⃣ Speaking of breakfast, I’ve also started Gordan Ramsay’s Masterclass and I’m obsessed with his scrambled eggs.
