信報 - 2013年9月6日星期五 【節錄】媒體藝術家蔡世豪 混亂中找出一個人的精采 香港有不少地下樂隊，然而能登上國際舞台的並不多。1983年出生的電子音樂創作人蔡世豪，以一人之力創作一整場聲音匯演，配以交替閃動的影像，形成自己的獨特風格。他更因此參與了多個大型藝術節的音樂匯演，屢次登上歐美的國際舞台。最近他獲香港藝術發展局頒發2012年藝術新秀獎（媒體藝術），成績獲肯定。 「其實說得白一點，我是在砌各種wave form。就算和其他歌手合作，人聲也只屬於在我的工作平台上的一個data。因此在現場演出的時候，未必真的有歌手在唱歌，可能只是播放人聲的track。演出時，我多會先預備一些聲音和短片，到現場才即場組合轉換。這種在台上的創作，是另一種形式的互動。」 作品具香港氣息 蔡世豪笑指，可能開始創作時還是學生，沒有太大生活壓力，所以縱然演出機會不多，也一直堅持下來。後來演出一個接一個，做過不同band show、音樂節和藝術節，慢慢做出口碑。最難忘的一次演出，要數在2011年的Clockenflap音樂節。一群觀眾在音樂的催化下，隨強勁的節拍搖擺身體，「看到台下的觀眾跟音樂喪跳，自己也不自覺玩得更落力」。後來他更得到主辦者賞識，介紹到瑞士電子音樂節去。「我做的音樂性質獨特，與地下音樂相近，卻非流行音樂，與嚴肅音樂的風格也有點類近。能得到2012年藝術發展局的媒體藝術新秀獎，可能也是我做的音樂難以歸類之故（笑）。」 他認為，投身電子音樂創作，也與自己的性格有關。「可能我是一個比較自主獨立的人，覺得每個人都是獨立的個體，有自己的想法和創作的空間。電子音樂很適合我的生活方式，可能它也是適合很多人的，只靠電腦，就能造出多種音樂。」他形容，自己的音樂風格很多元化，創作過IDM 、Minimal Techno 、Click Noise 、Break n Beat 、Downtempo 等電子音樂風格的樂曲。「就以Click Noise 為例，我把它與鋼琴聲放在一起，鋼琴聲很暖，Click Noise 的節奏則很冷，好像陰陽互相配合，這是我經常用的創作手法。我想電子音樂的精神正在於此，不斷嘗試和以不同元素配合和碰撞，創造一些新的聲音出來。這種創造性也是我做音樂的動力。」 而他創作的靈感常常來自四周的環境，因而作品也帶有濃重的香港氣息。「有時候是有影像才有音樂，有些則是相反，有時候甚至是兩者一起發生。例如我會先想到六合彩的主題和畫面，再思考有些什麼音樂可以配搭，後來發現用Game-Boy的聲音，與它更為配搭，因為彩票其實也有其遊戲成分在，最後製作成Mark 6 Players VS Game-Boy People 。身邊的聲音，很多時也會啟發我創作。例如香港人走路節奏非常急速，IDM、Drum and Bass 的急速節奏與它也是非常配合。至於影像的靈感，有時候也會來自香港的文化，但也有純顏色和幾何等偏向藝術性的創作。」 尋找大眾接合點 雖然一直以來，非主流的音樂都被看成是小眾的玩意，但蔡世豪認為近年情況開始改善，一些地下樂隊或獨立音樂人也開始吸引了不少聽眾的注意。而今年3月他也獲得康文署的邀請，合作完成了一個名為《星．音．演》的媒體音樂表演。在更多的支援下，成果自是大有不同，更吸引了一些對電子音樂沒太大認識的人來觀賞。「獨立音樂show中，看的人和玩的人都是同一班人。有了更多資源，就可加強宣傳，讓一些對音樂陌生的人加深認識。無論互聯網有多方便，也比不上傳統媒介和主流媒體的宣傳。這個表演起初的宣傳並沒有像一般商業演出般，放大表演者的面貌，只有一些key image，就如外國電子音樂的宣傳一樣，與康文署合作才有這種空間。」 近年他也多了與不同的獨立歌手合作做音樂，例如搖滾樂隊觸執毛主音歌手阿水、音樂人黃靖、獨立流行樂隊Modern Children主音歌手曾皿堅等，自己先創作一段音樂，由對方加上歌詞和旋律後，再設計相應的動畫配合，在互動之中合奏。例如與黃靖合作的The Light Of Babylon 中，因為對方創作的歌詞引發了光的想像，進而製作了許多城市燈光交替出現的畫面，雖然是各自創作，但卻能互相配合，製造出更佳的效果。而在對上一次演出中，與其他人合作的部分更多。有此轉變，除了是追求創作上的火花，也是市場需要使然。「在香港，始終聽眾接觸有人唱的音樂比較多，歌手也被放得很大，就算是電台播歌，也多是有人唱的，不能只為純音樂。其實我一直想找與大眾的一個接合點。」 走上這條路，他剛開始的時候也沒有想過太多，只是想把興趣變成生活。「以藝術來表達自己的渴望是與生俱來的，要盡量發揮自己的才能。人生是很短的，只是宇宙中的一瞬，當然盡量做自己想做的事情，活得更開心。」 然而他相信，未來將會有愈來愈多人喜歡電子音樂，對前景感到樂觀。「觀眾也開始覺得現時的狀況太悶，想有更多變化。比起從前，聽主流音樂的人數已經跌了很多，以前沒有互聯網，很多人都受主流媒體影響，因此觀眾群非常集中。但如今互聯網把觀眾群都打散了，他們不再是單一的一個群體，因此獨立樂隊也多了人注意，但這種變化仍是緩慢的。如今不少地下音樂人也會尋求合作機會，以期不斷進步。」他自己則會繼續抱沉應戰的心態：「我追求的是下一個作品比上一個作品更好。」 撰文︰張綺霞 - @choisaiho on Instagram
