Did you know I am embroidering a science alphabet? I want to know which of the first row is your fave so far! 🆎 I started this awesome project almost two weeks ago! Everyday we all get together on my stories and vote on the letter of the day and make suggestions for the next day! I get over 200 (?!?!) suggestions everyday for each letter! Its honestly the most amazing thing ever seeing us all come together and watch this alphabet form! 🆎 Looking at this project, I see my ultimate goal in starting an embroidery instagram: to be able to teach anyone and everyone about science using art. The fact that we come together as a community to create this alphabet is a humbling experience for me, I am just absolutely elated that everyone is having such a good time with it! 🆎 This picture is pre-rip (RIP alphabet) now I am working on alphabet beta 😂and have turned the letters I could salvage in to patches. We are working on the letter M right now and I am HYPED to show you which choice won for the letter L! 🆎 Ive also seen others working on their own alphabets too! If youre putting together a science-y alphabet use the hashtag #SciAlphabet so I can find it and share! #StitchingWithHew #StitchableScience #ScienceEmbroidery #ScienceArt #SciArt #Embroidery #Handmade #Neuroscience #neurology #psychology #mindfulness #science #microscopy #doctor #research #premed #mentalhealth #anatomy #children #development #education #microbiology #labtech #medschool #biology #medlabscience #scientist #scicomm #biologia - @stitching_hew on Instagram

- @manumaurino on Instagram

Every now and then I come across an author, musician, artist or thinker who re-shapes and adjusts the lenses I see Life through. Recently, the poet-philosopher-doctor Bayo Akomolafe has been one such teacher. I first came across his work through the @for.the.wild podcast (another world-view changing curriculum that I can’t recommend highly enough) which led me to ingesting as much of his work as I could find and eventually reaching out to him for a project I was undertaking. Bayo, true to form, wrote me essentially an essay back that straightened my spine, upended my presumptions and turned the project I was working on inside out. From there, a philosophical and artistic allyship has ensued and these images are some of the fruits of our creative alliance. If you’re interested in learning more about Bayo and his unique and timely perspectives, I’d recommend reading his essays “What Climate Change Asks Of Us” and “I, Coronavirus, Mother, Monster, Activist” (which I illustrated and some of these works appear in). You can also watch his recent interview on “Cancel Culture.” And finally, if you are like me, a creative and inquisitive soul who is looking how to sense-make these wild and disorienting times and loves a good deep dive - I invite you to join me in participating in Bayo’s upcoming writing course and research assemblage called We Will Dance with Mountains: Let us Make Sanctuary. The journey begins on October 18th and will continue through the end of January 2021. Bayo and his team are now accepting applications. - @oceanarioislasdlrosario on Instagram

¿Recuerdan a Kai y a Chely? #manatipr #conservation #education #seaturtles - @manati_pr on Instagram

Is immune testing necessary before #IVF? I frequently get this question. Sometimes more is not better and tests that are not proven to be useful may do more harm than good. Today is the #transferversary of this embryo that now is a healthy baby. After struggling at another fertility center, this couple had all kinds of expensive tests that are not necessary before IVF. My new patient was terrified that she had an immune problem that would prevent her from carrying a term pregnancy and that would affect her health. All kinds of interventions were recommended including blood thinners, steroids, intralipids. Take a step back. We knew why this couple had infertility and it had nothing to do with her immune system. She was otherwise normal and healthy. I suggested she see a medical immunologist who agreed these tests were not necessary or predictive of any underlying immune problem. I literally wrote in her chart that we are ignoring all the prior results. It would have been easy to accept them and let another doctor prescribe unnecessary medications. She might have even gotten pregnant in spite of them and thought they helped and were necessary for her future pregnancies too. Any way, on her first transfer at #columbiafertility she conceived with a natural cycle frozen embryo transfer and delivered a healthy baby. This was good lesson why we should only order tests or recommend treatments that have solid evidence to support them unless it’s part of a research trial. #ttc #ttccommunity #ivfjourney #miscarriagesucks - @ericformanmd on Instagram

Ever heard of #RedTide? Red tide is the common name for a type of harmful algae bloom (HAB). HAB’s are caused by a combination of factors relating to temperature, nutrient availability, salinity and other factors. Human activity and nutrient pollution has been proven to increase the chances of a HAB. Red tide HABs can be detrimental to all sorts of marine organisms, and can even cause human health problems. In recent years, Florida has been especially hard hit by red tide blooms, closing beaches in 2018 and causing local economies to suffer. Research is ongoing to study the effects of red tide on marine ecosystems. BIOFERTILIZERS:👇🏻 Biofertilizers are bacterial manures. The beneficial micro - organisms present in the atmosphere provide the already existing nitrogen crop and render insoluble phosphorus present in the soil soluble in water to the plants. Scientific research has shown that organic manure yields 30 to 40 kg of nitrogen per hectare and increases yield by 10 to 20 per cent. Similarly, the use of phospho bacteria and mycoraiza fertilizers increases the availability of phosphorus in a field by 20 to 30 per cent. Instead of using chemical fertilizers, organic manure is used to increase productivity and increase soil fertility. Biofertiliser useful for these crops Biofertilizers are useful for all leguminous crops. Azotobacter is useful for all crops other than legume crops. Azospririllam fertilizer is especially useful for sugarcane along with all other crops other than leguminous crops. Phophobectiria fertilizer is useful for all crops. जय जवान जय किसान🌾🌾 Like : Share : Comment #fertilizer #organicfruit #organicfarm #organicgardening #organicfarming #organiccare #organicfertilizer #organicvegetables #organicfood #organic #goodfood #healthylifestyle #eatorganic #eatftesh #eathealthy #healthy #healthyfood #india - @kheti.kisan on Instagram
