Sydney customers especially seem to be loving our beautiful jute throws as they’re oversized at 240cm x 140cm, which is hard to come by + perfect for a big king size bed or a giant family size sofa... Most of our other throws are much smaller, so we wanted something to cater for both customers + this is our answer... 「月に30ー40件いっているけど、毎年布オムツは1人くらいよ」 と先日、検診をするためにうちに来た保健師さんが言っていました。 The other day, a nurse from our ward came by, and said that she sees around 30-40 households each month, but only meets 1 family a year that uses cloth diapers. 今の時代、そんなにレアなことであるとは😵 正直いうと、初めは新生児用のサイズでも大きすぎて横から漏れちゃったり、諦めたい気持ちもありました。でも2ー3週間で👶🏻も少しムチムチしてきて、そういうトラブルももうなくなって、子育て自体に慣れるのと同じように、だんだんと気持ちが楽に。 I had no idea how rare it is in this day and age! To be honest, there were times I definitely did feel like giving up and using disposables. But as she grew a little chubbier, we’ve been getting used to cloth diapers the same way we are getting used to childcare altogether! 24時間で少なくとも15回はオムツを替えると、一気にゴミ箱がいっぱいになるはず。 市販の紙オムツは自然界で分解するのに200年かかるそう。もっと多い年数というデータも見たことがあります。 いくら日本はゴミを焼却するとしても、自然環境に良いわけない。(ちなみに「紙オムツ」をいう名前ですが素材は全然紙ではないですよ🤫) Consider changing around 15 nappies in 24 hours. Your trash bin must fill up am quickly... It takes 200 years for regular single-use nappies to biodegrade. Some research says even longer. Although Japan incinerates it’s trash anyway, the bottom line is that this stuff can’t be good for the environment. Btw, in Japanese we say “kami-omutsu” for the disposable diapers, which translates to “paper diapers” but in no way is it made of paper 🙃 子供を産むことは、自然環境に膨大な悪影響を及ぼすものという数値がいくつかあります… 2017年の調査によると、子供を産まないことで年間58トン以上のCO2が節約できるそう。それに続く減らせる方法は車を使わないこと。そうすると2.4トン節約できます。 Giving birth has tremendous bad impact on the environment. According to a 2017 study, a family can save over 58 tons of CO2 a year by having one less child. This is followed by going car-free, which would save 2.4 tons annually. それを知っていても産んだからには、何か他でオフセットしないといけない気がします。 Knowing this kind of stuff and still having chosen to have a child, I feel that I need to offset somehow. 1日1回だけ布オムツにするとかでもいいんですよ。そうすると1年で365個捨てなくてすむ。そんな感じで、プレッシャーなしで、すべての人が移行したらすんごーい量が捨てられないですみますよね！ No pressure – but changing to cloth nappies for even just once a day would save 365 from going into the trash each year. Imagine every family doing that. This baby blanket is direct outcome of teaching winter session @risd1877 with @provi_kate two years ago. We were preparing stitching ideas for repairing Vintage Kaya. Now.... several of women embroiders in Kolkata take creative freedom to stitch their ideas onto these organic cotton blankets. I have been keeping cozy with these baby blankets past few months.
