Kekerasan seksual terhadap perempuan asli Papua untuk melancarkan perampasan lahan demi kepentingan pemodal adalah salah satu contoh bagaimana patriarki, kapitalisme, rasisme, imperialisme, dan kolonialisme bekerja sama untuk memperparah penindasan terhadap perempuan. Maka dari itu, penting untuk diingat bahwa feminisme bukan gerakan yang menuntut reformasi sosial (kesetaraan laki-laki dan perempuan) belaka, melainkan penghapusan dominasi secara menyeluruh. Bersamaan dengan patriarki- kapitalisme, rasisme, imperialisme, dan kolonialisme juga perlu dihancurkan agar tidak ada lagi penindasan. Hi friends. I want to talk about transgenerational trauma in black peoples. TGT(transgenerational trauma) is the idea that trauma can be passed down from trauma survivors to second and further generations due to PTSD. With slavery came oppression of black people. Lands were taken, families and cultures were disrupted, sense of self....every part of their life destroyed. But we know this. The end of slavery did NOT end this trauma. What came after slavery? Jim Crow laws which led to segregation, lynching, removal of social and economic resources, etc. slavery might have ended but the idea that black ppl were were inferior and less than human STILL carried through those generations. Convicts worked in cotton fields and were shot of they tried to escape and was pretty much referred to a “knockoff” of slavery in the 1900s. Which is funny(not) that convicts were shot and killed by enforcement and those who were the “enforcers” were pardoned from murder! Wow this sounds very familiar. Let’s roll on over to WW1. SURELY black soldiers fighting would give them SOMETHING positive to come back to? Nope. Still getting lynched. Segregation is still happening. The Civil Rights Movement chopped away @ legal issues, but racial barriers still existed. Slavery ended, and Incarceration happened. Why? Because black ppl were STILL being subjected to economic issues due to past events bleeding over. At some points 50% of prisoners were black, EVEN THOUGH 76% of drug users were white??? But only black ppl got arrested which eventually led to the “War on Drugs”. Aka a very well disguised form of racial control. This is why you see such a large amount of black convicts. Even after the March on Washington, black individuals STILL accounted for most of the poverty and were more likely to be part of the homeless population - @rumitto on Instagram

When dreams come true! This weekend I attended my first freediving competition - the Azul Freediving Challenge respectively its replacement event the Yum Kin Mini Comp. Ive never had any intentions to participate in a competition as competing with others is just not in my nature. But reflecting this weekend I am extremely glad that I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and gave it a try anyway. Performance-wise I did: ✔️ a very comfortable & succesful 41 meter dive in training (white card). ✔️ a comfortable & succesful 45 meter dive on the first day of competition (white card). ✖️ On the second day I intended to reconfirm my PB (personal best) of 51m, but sadly without success (yellow card); from the first warm-up dive various things just felt off or different than the day before - the wetsuit felt more constricting, the water temperature difference felt greater, my neck felt tenser, my throat felt dry, my stomach felt weird, my mind just not at ease and not able to reset & focus. The cause? Maybe the bad nights sleep, maybe the breakfast I had about 3 1/2 hours before, maybe the flavored electrolyte drink I had about 2 hours before or maybe the combination of it all. The effect? I could not make proper use of my mouth-fill, as a consequence was not able to equalize anymore at a depth of 48 meters and hence was forced to turn around (early turn). 😒 It would be a lie to say that I wasnt disappointed - even a bit frustrated as I am pretty sure I would have nailed the same dive the day before. 🤩 From the start the event was bursting with good vibes, positive energy, kindness and great sympathy - a balm for the soul after all this pandemic measures. Over the course of the weekend Ive had the chance & joy to meet and talk to so many lovely & interesting fellow freedivers, for which I am truly grateful of. 🙌🏼 Did the spark for competing ignite? No! Do I want to meet these and more awesome freedivers again? Getting into the Ayurvedic retreat! I slept during every single massage so I can’t tell you how that was apart from relaxing, but I had a face pack that I felt like eating! The ingredients were rosewater, turmeric, red and white sandal paste all mixed in fresh banana. On the photo you can see me still covered in triphala mud-like body pack. . - International Youth Day - . Does education and strict regulations kill creativity and dreams? Well, that might be a bit harsh but I do think that the global system scares children from thinking free and creating their own ideas and concepts. For example, if you educate children that there is a God, a heaven and a hell...I doubt that the kids will start to speculate regarding evolution and philosophy. Wouldn’t it be more fair to say that “many people believe in a God, but some don’t and it’s up to you to decide what you believe?”. People often asks me if my parents were supporting or even pushing me to become an explorer. My parents never taught me how to fly but they never cut my wings. When I was telling them that I would, totally inexperienced, kayak for six months from Stockholm to Africa, they didn’t tell me not to do it. They just told me to be careful and bring a life jacket?! Never have they tried to stop me from climbing Mt Everest, crossing Antarctica or hike across Serengeti. I believe that we are underestimating children. They are much stronger and creative than we think. I have been Ambassador for an organization called Mentor for many years and at a charity dinner, children had written small notes on our plates about what they want to be in life? I had a response on my plate from an 8 year old boy who wrote; “I don’t understand the question; am I not something now? I am child?!” Let the children stay creative and be open to different philosophies, jobs, sexuality, religions, dreams and ideas - no matter how crazy they may seem. The most successful characters in history were once seen as crazy.
