Have you been gluten free for a while now, but you still can’t seem to get rid of those digestive issues ❓ I was in that same boat so I know exactly how frustrating it is 🤦🏻♀️ The problem I had was that I wasn’t eating the right foods. I figured just because my cookies were gluten free or my bread was gluten free that I should feel great. But that’s not the case ❌ You have to pay more attention to 𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗬 gluten free foods like veggies, fruits, grass fed meats, eggs, nuts, etc. & pay less attention to gluten free “junk”. Don’t get me wrong I still love my cookies & bread & I don’t stop myself from eating them. Instead, I just choose brands that are made with better ingredients 🙌🏻 Switch out those gluten free cookies with 25 ingredients on the list & go for minimal ingredient brands like @simplemills or @soozysgrainfree 👍🏼 Switch out that gluten free bread that has tons of ingredients you can’t even pronounce for one that has recognizable ingredients like @baseculture 👍🏼 When eating anything from a package don’t worry about the calories, fat, carbs or protein, instead worry about the ingredients! Do you know what ingredients are in the product? Can you pronounce these ingredients? Is there more than 8-10 ingredients? Сегодня мы приехали навестить 1️⃣3️⃣-летнего футболиста из Мурманской Области с диагнозом «лимфобластный лейкоз», уже прошедшего курс интенсивной терапии. ЭДИК АВГУЛЬ. С детства занимался футболом, сначала как любитель, а позже — профессионально, показывал хорошие результаты и не раз участвовал в областных соревнованиях, занимая призовые командные места. В его копилке футбольных достижений красуются два кубка и множество медалей🏆🥇 Мальчик очень целеустремлённый с хорошим чувством юмора, что помогает ему в борьбе с болезнью. Сейчас Эдик уже проходит поддерживающую терапию 👩⚕️ Мы приехали в гости к мальчику на квартиру (наш фонд «СВЕТ» снимает её для детей приезжающих на лечение из других городов), где он временно проживает со своей мамой. Приехали не с пустыми руками. Игроки сборной России Джикия, Мирончук, Ахметов и другие оставили свои автографы на мяче, чтобы поддержать мальчика в борьбе с тяжелым заболеванием⚽️ Также игрок испанской «Валенсии» Денис Черышев, когда узнал, что мы поедем к Эдику, решил поддержать мальчика, записав для него видеообращение 📺 Эдик вначале сильно стеснялся. Но в процессе нашего общения освоился. Поделился с нами историей своей болезни, рассказал про своего папу футболиста, с которого он берет пример, про то, что любимый предмет в школе у него информатика, а также про своего пса Гуфика, которого он нашёл на улице🐶 Мы съездили с Эдиком на залив, а также на ближайшее футбольное поле, прихватив с собой футбольный мяч ⚽️. Нам удалось немного побаловаться с мячом, тем более, что врачи уже разрешают мальчику умеренные физические нагрузки. Уже на следующей неделе Эдик полетит домой ✈️. Мальчик очень этого ждёт, ведь он с декабря уже не был дома. Ну, а из ближайших планов, очередное обследование в Санкт-Петербурге через несколько месяцев. There’s a pervasive idea that skinnier equals being faster, which is not true! 😔I’ve worked with so many runners that have developed an unhealthy relationship to food due to coaches or others commenting that they would be faster if they lost a few pounds. ❤️If you are a runner that has experienced this, I’m so sorry. 💥If you’re a coach, other runner, or bystander that has commented on a runner’s weight, I’d encourage you to think about the implications of making such statements the next time you comment. 🏃♀️The truth is, you can be a runner at any size. Al di là del fiume Niagara, in territorio canadese, sorge unaltra piccola città chiamata anchessa Niagara Falls Le due città omonime sono collegate dal Ponte dellarcobaleno che scavalca il fiume Niagara proprio di fronte alle cascate. - Si può anche fare un giro in battello per circa 20 minuti, fino ad arrivare fin sotto le cascate. So, if you’re inviting them to think of happy thoughts, believe me, they already tried. It just doesn’t work that way. 3. “Don’t worry. Someone has it worse.” Please don’t dare compare their pain with others’. Just please don’t. 4. “You’re just overthinking. It’s all in the mind.” Never try to invalidate their thoughts. The mind can become your worst enemy or your best ally. But in times like this, it has decided to become the former. Telling them this doesn’t help. It’s like giving someone with a broken arm a band-aid. ————————————————— If you have not experienced having depression, you may find it hard to put yourself in their shoes, but all they really need is someone whom they can trust, someone they can share their daily struggles with, and someone who can understand and support them in their efforts to recover. Finding a “work-life balance” in my daily routine has always been tricky for me. I tend to live on a pendulum, either working 60 hour weeks to get a project done without any physical activity at all, or I get so burnt out I take off for a few extra days even though there’s important stuff left on the to-do list. Neither is a very healthy practice for my business or my body. Lately, I’ve been trying to get to the office earlier, work on the really important tasks before I check my emails or get on any calls, and end my workday early enough to go on mini adventures in my backyard. This photo was taken at sunset on a Monday, and I swear playing hooky at 3pm a few days a week is adding years back to my life. If you’re fortunate enough to be your own boss, I know how hard you hustle. But hard work should be rewarded. Give yourself permission to enjoy some of that time you worked so hard to give yourself. I love water. Moving water especially. There something about it. My thought as I hiked by the tumultuous creek was “Can you kayak that?!? I bet someone has. You’d have a lot of spots you have to pull out and put back in. I wanna kayak rivers. How do I get trained to do that? Anxiety medications are very common these days, particularly for women. Nearly 25% of women ages 20-60 are prescribed with anxiolytics, and that was before the pandemic. Given the sky rocketing alcohol sales in 2020, it’s safe to say that we’ve seen an enormous increase in the number of people self medicating for stress and panic. Anxiety is a normal reaction to the extreme circumstances we’ve seen this year, but it makes sense to look at alternative ways to decrease anxiety before relying on medication. GABA is an important calming neurotransmitter, and it has an inverse relationship with estrogen. The higher your estrogen, the lower your GABA (and alcohol increases estrogen). Testosterone helps improve GABA levels (but alcohol lowers testosterone). Other ways to increase GABA include exercise, yoga, meditation, and these supplements: 1. Glutamine (I take 2-5 grams) 2. Valerian root (1000-1600mg at night) 3. Passion flower 4. Taurine (without caffeine) 5. L-Theanine 6. Kava 7. Chinese Skullcap 8. Lemon Balm 9. Chamomile (Apigenin) 10. Females-progesterone plays a part in GABA production, which is one reason we call progesterone “nature’s Valium.” Just remember that your GABA levels fluctuate based on your lifestyle and choices. What do you want your reputation to be 5 years from now? If it’s for the quality and consistency of your results, you won’t be able to achieve it with the same clients. Do you have a diary full of clients who are just ticking over? Sure you enjoy training them, but they don’t have a clear goal that they’re working towards. As a result, you don’t have anyone who is likely to achieve results that you can showcase further down the line. Now if you love training them and you’re helping them in many other ways, then that’s great. However, if you want to grow your reputation you do need results, and plenty of them. It’s very likely that you’re holding onto some of your clients just to keep the revenue coming in (and being safe), but thinking like that isn’t supporting the progression of your reputation. This is where I would always move an old client on, and replace them with someone new. I call it farming my clients. Out with old out, in with new. I was always marketing with the intention of taking on new clients. Clients come and go, you have to be ok with that. Your current clients are either supporting your progression or they’re slowing you down. I fully appreciate that your clients often become friends, but don’t forget that you’re also running a business. Ron has been a coach with SOM for over 17 years with the Team Edge Alpine Ski program. Ron ensures his athletes strive for their best on and off the ski hill, are engaged at practices, feel part of the team, and are enjoying their down hill training experiences. ⛷️ At the 2020 National Winter Games, he had three Manitoba athletes for the first time, and all received multiple medals. Ron was a mentor for two athletes in the Athlete Leadership Program in Fall 2019 and attended the Special Olympics Saskatchewan Coaches Symposium in October 2019. After talking with some close friends about a very powerful weekend I experienced, they encouraged me to share my story so here goes. This past weekend I attended a self-wellness retreat that helped me dive into my inner core, look at the man in the mirror and be completely honest, open and vulnerable. Looking at myself and being completely honest was hard because you cant lie to yourself. It was an amazing weekend of being present, meditating and many breakthroughs. Spending time with yourself in your own thoughts is not only eye opening, but you learn so much. When you have lived most of your life in the spotlight you tend to lose yourself, getting to know oneself again after so many years is liberating. I was hesitant about sharing because of the Fear of being Judged. I have always been a leader, and leaders lead by example, but I know there are people out there that need to hear this. The thought of not wanting to share this made me think about how many people out there are in my same shoes. How many people are afraid to speak up and be ridiculed. I want to be part of the change, I want to help normalize asking for help. Too many people are going by the motto of Living my best life but really dying inside. This is not living. We all have hard times in which we experience loneliness, anxiety and depression. The difference between success and failure is making sure every time you want to quit, you surround yourself with positive energy, people who believe in you and always remember, God did not bring you this far to just get this far... We all have a purpose in life. We need to learn how to be patient and trust the process, the growth happens in the process. When someone reaches out to you for help in anyway, do not turn your back on them. Mental Health is a serious issue in our community. Dont be afraid to reach out for help. When we had caregivers who we felt emotionally or physically responsible for as little ones, we’ll often try to avoid emotionally “burdening” others as adults—sometimes to the point where we’re closed off from sharing our true selves. We might get stuck in patterns of feeling like we have to care for, or perform for others in order to not burden them. Working with #nasa was a career highlight for me. To be invited to film the organisations scientists at work in #antarctica was an epic experience which exposed my inner science geek. The equipment onboard the flightlab can measure changes in ice movement of one centimetre. #operationicebridge collects data from both poles via a retro-fitted DC8 and in conjunction with data collected by two satellites called #icesat1 and #icesat2. This data is able to accurately tell us all about the ice, snow, and topography at the poles. What we learned in Antarctica was that ice the size of two Titanics is melting every 10 seconds. To my beloved go-getters: A quick word of advice before you start creating ALL the things. 👇🏿👇🏽👇🏻 Focus on 1️⃣ at a time. Start with ONE juicy offer, and get really good...no actually get GREAT... at selling and delivering that one thing. And then, and only then, do you add something else. Heads up: this may take you a while. (That’s how long it takes to become great at something.) And there are going to be lots of distractions along the way. 🐿 You’re going to want to give up when it gets hard. You’re going to see what other people are doing and think you should abandon your idea and try that. You’re going to want to lower your prices when your ego gets bruised. Don’t. ❌ If you need to, send me a message and say, “hey Julia, I’m thinking of giving up.” I’ll message you back and say, “oh HELLLLLL no!” Ok, so now that you know you’re going to build ONE thing, where should you start?! In making your decision, I would ask yourself this question: What is the transformation that you’re offering to your ideal client? 🌈 🦋 Remember, you’re in the business of getting results. Not selling a product just for the heck of it. So, given your skillset, what do you believe is the MOST EFFECTIVE way to get your clients results? 🎬 Start there. I’m personally a fan of the high ticket offer (1:1 or group coaching) because it allows me to focus all of my attention on only a few clients so that I can really guarantee results. If you’re like me, it can be challenging to stay with yourself and your own feelings and truths when surrounded by others. I learned at a young age to spend my energy tracking my external environment and attempting to control it by pleasing and appeasing others. This was a trauma response to a chaotic home environment that felt unsafe to my growing nervous system. This trauma response is called “fawning”* and is part of our central nervous system’s “social engagement system”—one of our higher order trauma response systems. When we don’t feel safe, we “fawn”, try to make others happy in any way possible in order to make it safe again. Even if that means erasing our own sense of self or ignoring our own needs. Often we learned this so young—and it’s become so automatic—that we don’t even know why we’re doing it (or that we’re doing it!). Your body is not a machine and you’re not an equation A calculator can be a good starting place for some, however it makes A LOT of assumptions that may not pertain to you, and doesn’t consider a lot of very important factors A calculator doesn’t know your dieting history, if you’ve been chronically dieting forever, your maintenance calories are probably lower than what a calculator may tell you A calculator doesn’t know your individual metabolism. It can give two different people the same set of numbers, but each of them may respond differently. A calculator doesn’t know your underlying health issues that can impact your progress Now a coach technically is also making assumptions, but they are EDCUATED assumptions based on individual factors A good coach will take your dieting history into account, your mindset and relationship with food into account, know what red flags to look for, ask the right questions to dig a little deeper to come up with the game plan that is going to work for you. A good coach is also more than just macro protocols. We can work on deeper goals like your relationship with food and improving daily habits. You get progressive adjustments that will keep you moving forward towards your goal, and the accountability to keep you going when you start to doubt yourself. They will push you to your true potential. Yes calculators are free and easily accessible, but the lifetime value you get with a good coach is truly priceless.
