I am the first woman in my bloodline to have the freedom of choice. So after the passing of my Grandmother Ruth, I was inspired to make Safer Here; to unpack the harsh exterior of displaced working class women like her and celebrate their resilience. They speak in little and tongue twisted words. They walk with a lowered gaze. They need you to finish your plate and go study. Tough, intense. Foreign. • I feel a responsibility to bring to life the woman that is behind the armour of survival; the steel heart, the apron. The woman that also needs to be held, loved, cared for; to feel safe. The woman that needs to stand up and speak up. That needs to simply be. She fled so we could fly. What has @sabrinabonatesta been up to since graduating in 2019? “Since graduating I have been up to lots of goods. Life turned into a sort of constant rollercoaster ride in which moments of complete tranquility alternated to “healthy madness”. I worked at both Paris and Milan fashion week and I also joined the preparation of an upcoming Walt Disney movie. How would a Dior Men’s haute couture collection look like? Silhouette 47 from the #DiorWinter20 collection might respond to this question. When searching for inspiration at house’s atelier, @MrKimJones found a beautiful dress from Marc Bohan’s Autumn/Winter 1969-1970 haute couture collection, which he found incredibly glamorous. The process of making the coat has similarities with the work of Judy Blame, in the delicacy used to make the details of the piece and Blame’s DIY accessories. The original dress is made in flat ribbons of silver with a rain-like shimmer. For his latest collection, Kim Jones reinterpreted the dress and devised a long opera coat made in embroidered cashmere. The style of the sleeve is raglan, and the shape of the collar was adapted, based on the moment given to the whole coat. Kim wanted to achieve the movement of water, of rain falling, that felt almost like rain shooting down. The piece is truly an artwork, it’s really men’s couture, using the incredible skills of the ‘petites mains’, as @EdwardCrutchley explained. It is notably remarkable the fact that it took a total of 900 hours to produce the creation, which is made up of three types of sequin and light-reflecting silver thread, that was also used to produce the pair of gloves from look 45 and the shirt from look 44. DAY FIVE :: Because the Night...Has been very, quiet of late 💃🏼🌃 So what better way to kick down the weekends door that with a power pant and the insane but entirely wonderful *alleged* @Nike Stiletto. This was a @mitchellroadantiques purchase from back when it was the Auction House and actually on Mitchell road. They cost $30, and were originally going to be my wedding shoes; it was one of those decisions proudly supported (or rather egged-on) by my excellent husband. Ive worn them quite a few times, and they do feel like you might expect - like a high pair of sneakers👠👟 *TIP* Marry someone who indulges your love of shoes, and agrees that the brighter, the bolder and crazier - the better. These shoes are like the enigma phantom child of @Nike. Im not on the dark web, but figure that all of the literature about these shoes must be there somewhere, because theres bugger all on the Googles, and what is there is confusing. My full 15 minutes of research on the origin of these shoes has revealed mostly questions - like what were they thinking? Was it a whim or market research? Did the Nike Air Max version come before the Stiletto Air Jordans (which exist!) - are they even REAL? So down the rabbit hole I went 🕴🏻🕴🏻🕴🏻only to discover that these coveted elevated sneakers (which are actually VERY comfortable) appear to be fake, at least according to reputable news source High Heels Daily (which also exists). But then you go a bit deeper only to discover that on 2018 @commedesgarcons DID do a real collaboration with Nike for their 2018 runway show. Deeper still, and the confusion grows as you try to ascertain the online jungle of counterfeit/real sneakers and wonder how on earth do you actually get the Nike Air Jordan Heels on? BUT THEN my little intertraipse takes a sharp turn from stiletto to kitten and leads me to @ancutasarca Sarca a Romanian Designer who has been upcycling Nike trainers into kitten heels. Of course reigning supreme @noahthethomas will have one too when we can get back to theatre land. A moment to celebrate! 🎉 I know I use this print a lot, but it’s because I’m so proud of the joint work of each and EVERY person who has been apart of this incredible journey. As someone who expresses themselves through clothing, it’s my way of honouring that. Lockdown has really put a lot in perspective for me. ОБ ОТНОШЕНИЯХ С ЖЕНЩИНАМИ ⠀ Мне пришлось непросто в отношениях с женщинами. Много раз на своём пути я сталкивалась с завистью и непониманием, злые языки согревали мне уши и с юных лет жизнь как будто мне толдычила «будь с ними осторожна, не доверяй им все свои секреты», но я по натуре очень открытый человек и да, обжигалась. ⠀ Мне всегда было проще общаться с мужчинами, дружба с ними мне казалась более надежной и эффективной чтоли... Они не заморачиваются на ерунде и постоянно стремятся к завоеванию (что мы будем делать сегодня? Конечно же захватывать мир!) ⠀ Я абсолютно беззаветно дружила с ребятами и считала себя полноценным членом их команды. Но я никогда не была пацанкой одевающей худи оверсайз и засаленные штаны. Я всегда была девочкой 😇 Надевала каблуки и училась ходить быстро. ⠀ Поэтому неудивительно, что со временем я всё же поняла, что настоящей дружбы между гетеросексуальными мужчиной и женщиной либо не может быть либо это очень редкий случай. Но поняла я это до конца только тогда, когда вышла замуж. 😄 Всех моих «друзей и приятелей» как ветром сдуло. Конечно у меня были подруги, но время и огромный поток информации делают своё дело, иногда ваши пути расходятся и вы незаметно отдаляетесь. Я очень дорожу каждым человеком которых так или иначе выступил в роли учителя в моей жизни и всем безмерно благодарна. Ведь с этими людьми я прошла важный путь, из него состоит моя жизнь. ⠀ За последние 4 года я прошла огромный трансформационный путь к себе и своей женственности. Только сейчас я начинаю понимать женскую природу и осознавать всю красоту этой невиданной мощи что таится в женщине. Раньше я была просто не готова к таким энергиям. Чтобы научиться дружить женщинам нужно созреть для этого. ⠀ Все эти прекрасные создания на фотографии прошли свой уникальный, красивый, но тернистый путь для того чтобы переродиться в женщину и я благодарю их всей душой за наши «женские круги», разговоры по душам и атмосферу тепла и уюта. Ведь женщина - это поцелованная Господом Богиня, мудрейшая, дающая жизнь и дарующая будущее нам всем. This semester, students were given donated tablecloths as basis to create something new. Each work shows the individual examination of the history of the material, despite of isolation and the limited means available in their private space - resulting in a creative force that stands above fear and restriction. The results can be seen at Berlin Decks during Berlin Art Week from September 10 to 13. At the students initiative, donations will be collected during the exhibition for the Amadeu Antonio Foundation which is committed to a democratic civil society. In addition, the exhibited pieces will be raffled off at the end of the exhibition. Visitors will receive free tickets during their tour of the exhibition which entitle them to participate. On the last day of the exhibition the winners will be drawn at random. This closes a cycle of old and new, of taking and giving - from past and future perspectives. Best week of training yet: 120 miles run this past week🏃🏼♀️ ✅ Just about 50 miles run this weekend 🔥 520+ miles run over the last 5 weeks📈 Minimal to no soreness 🙏🏼 3 weeks out from my 110+ mi 24 hour attempt 💪🏼 🏆 🏃🏼♀️ ⭕️ I posted the following picture, because this was me just about 5 years ago, 19 years old, at the starting line of my very first marathon (post 2 knee surgeries within the past year) with @teamforkids for the 2015 @nycmarathon. This was before I even knew 24 hour races amongst other hardcore ultra distances existed....and my weekly mileage maxed out at about half of what it is now.
