I’m intrigued by the idea of gene 🧬 tailored skincare and have been investigating a service at @tempus_belgravia called @nomige_skincare which aims to eliminate the trial and error in finding skincare that’s right for you by custom-making your skincare based on a cheek swab gene test. It tests for 3 types of genetic mutation related to skin issues - collagen production (ie firmness) skin barrier and hydration (how well it keeps water in and nasties out) and antioxidant capacity (defence against internal and environmental stress). Genes account for 60% of skin ageing and lifestyle for the other 40% and the skincare (2 serums, 2 moisturisers for day and night) that was custom made for me took both into account. The thing with genes tests is that they can only tell you whether you are at increased risk - not whether something with definitely happen, but you can mitigate it with tailored healthy lifestyle tweaks - i got a diet report as well. I was super impressed with the science behind Nomige - founder Dr Barbara Geusens is a mine of skincare knowledge and she responds to you personally so it doesn’t feel like a faceless company - the testing lab is GDPR secure. It’s pricey £700 for the test and the cream and about £390 every 3 months for top ups, which can be reformulated according to season, but if you just can’t find skincare that works for you - you are still getting issues such as acne or redness, or just want to know once and for all what’s best for your skin it could be worth a try. For me it got rid of my annoying dryness which no amount of rich or hydrating creams have managed to fix. Thank you too @drsophieshotter for your independent advice - yes DNA testing for skin is the way forward but lifestyle must always be taken into account. Gently exfoliate and help reduce the appearance of pores and blackheads. They’re liposoluble so soak into the skin to unclog pores and calm inflammation for clearer and smoother skin⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ↪ What SVR products are they in?
