At some point, the rotation turns into a collection, I guess. A few years back, my buddy @marcymarcgess posted a sneaker wheel right as I was starting to really get into them, like reeeeallly into them. I posted mine, felt lame for not having anything “hype” or “classic,” then felt lame for trying to justify posting something I enjoy, then felt lame for over analyzing, so then I just deleted it. Literally the only thing I’ve ever deleted from my IG is of shoes. Shoes. Imposter syndrome coupled with a desire to have something no one else has (shoes, knowledge, experiences, acknowledgement, etc.) is a really annoying combo. It robs you of enjoying what’s in front of you and the community in which it exists. It feels kinda silly to see that even in something as seemingly trivial as sneakers, that rings true for me. Since then, I’ve sold some, bought some, sold some more, and bought some more. Ridiculous though it may seem, I’m learning to enjoy something without making it into a huge thing. Here’s to liking sneakers for what they are — a cool colorway, a classic silhouette, a story told through a sneaker, or anything else makes me want to grab another pair.
