Get ready to meet our Treasurer! 🍀 Hi everyone! My name is Mackenzie and I’m a senior from NJ studying Wildlife Ecology and Conservation. I’ll be your treasurer for this year and oversee merchandise and our budget. While at UF I’ve been focusing on management and am also pursuing a forestry minor. Being a member of TWS has given me so many opportunities to meet new people and learn from each other’s experiences. I have my S-130/S-190 certifications and starting my forestry minor has made me realize how much I love being out in the field and working on habitats. Last summer I worked at a camp run by FWC, the Ocala Outdoor Adventure Camp. Not only did I get to educate children, but I was able to meet several wildlife professionals from FWC. In the future I hope to eventually get into research on both habitat restoration and conservation genetics. My roles with TWS will primarily be working to make sure we have the funds for events such as Beast Feast and making the cost of Conclave as low as possible for our participating members. This is my third year as a TWS member and I’m excited to be coming back as an officer this time! This little Nile is a unique specimen, his name is Delta. To most guest he is just a Nile crocodile living with our alligators, but to us he is our little weirdo. Last night Cyler and I went out to try and see if we could catch and kill a 7-8 foot gator to fill our first tag. On the way there we agreed that we both wanted to be home no later than 10:30. We had no idea that we were going to be in a hour long fight with this 12 foot dinosaur that weighed 619 lbs. We had to drag him across the lake because we couldn’t get him in the boat. - Gator in Santee Canal Park, Moncks Corner, South Carolina. I broke my foot on Feb. 28 and am really missing the trails. This is from a short 3-mile trail in my hometown. Taken years ago.
