I did something today super out of the norm. I scheduled time with a personal stylist at a gorgeous boutique to S H O P for myself. 🛍 This might seem weird to some as it seems many love to shop. That’s not me. I don’t hate shopping in general but I’d prefer shopping for my home or the kids or skincare or my business over clothes shopping any day of the week. Last month unpacking I realized most of my clothes are at least 5 years old, probably half of them I’d say 10 years old. Good for the environment and our budget but when I decided to work on my personal website and brand, whoa, what do I wear that isn’t leggings and a flowy top? 😂🤷🏼‍♀️ But today I talked about clothes and shoes for 2 hours and had a great time doing it. The will to believe that tomorrow might be a better day. The will to keep pushing even when you don’t want to. The will to keep pushing when you’re not even sure you will succeed but you try anyway. I’ve broken bones in every limb of my body - both tibia plateaus, elbow, hand, leg. I’ve had three plates, 32 screws, and two rods (one I still have) hammered and drilled into my body to put me back together in my career since 2011. 12 surgeries in all. 10 major incisions plus numerous scope holes. I haven’t always wanted to continue on. Or felt like I had the will to keep trying. Through all the ups and downs, the times I have wanted to quit or retire, deep down I have always believed that if I keep pushing and have the will to continue on I can still succeed. The last couple weeks have been intense, to say the least. I’m thankful to be in remission but one thing that has always been a constant for me is my fatigue. Most days I sleep 8+ hours a night and still feel like I could sleep more. It’s a chore to get myself out of bed and “power through” everything I have to do in a day. But somehow I do it all while looking completely fine on the outside.⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And this is the reality for most people with IBD or other chronic illnesses. We’re expected to be fine because we look fine. We’re expected not to run out energy. To just keep going and “power through” like everyone else. But the reality is we actually physically feel much worse than most.⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I think this just really goes to show how powerful validating facts can be even when you have lived something first hand. I’ve known this feeling all along but to see it written out and validated by a doctor is a whole other feeling.⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I hope this can be validation for you to. Signing up for a DSW VIP account qualifies you for free shipping on your orders. The DSW VIP account also allows you to accumulate points towards rewards and get a $5 off for your birthday. Finally, they send out regular VIP member perks, such as a $10 reward. ✅ Once you are signed up for a DSW VIP account and have available rewards to use, you then want to go to the clearance section of the website to find an item for $10 or less.
